For my sisters birthday this last weekend, she chose to go to Solera's to celebrate. At the beginning I had been very reluctant to go since I have never been there before, but once we arrived we all had a great time! It was a little crowded but overall the enviornment was upbeat and fun! The drinks were great and I will be returning again soon!
Pros: young, hip and fun!
Cons: crowded

al Vento is one of my favorite local restuarants. The mother sauce is to die for, the meatballs delicious, and the eggplant parmesean pizza outstanding. The pastas are fresh and perfectly prepared. The patio is lovely and often crowded on a nice summer evening. On one occasion, we were there with a small child and the host was more than happy to accommodate, even offering to make a special mac and cheese or cheese pizza for her. The servers can be a bit spotty, but the food more than makes up for it.
Pros: excellent homeade pasta, great atmosphere, patio

After many visits to Buca de Beppo in Minneapolis and suffering through the long, sometimes miscalcutated, wait times we decided to try eating at the bar. This is the way to go at this place. We have had two different bartenders and we can't decide who we enjoy having serve us more, both are fantastic! More personality in these two than the rest of the staff combined. Food is always what we expect, red sauce done well. Try the Quatro al Forno for the best variety. We will be back often.

I would just like preface by saying that I am reviewing as a longtime server and someone who has worked in the service industry for almost a decade now. I am a fan of this restaurant, and am irritated by other customers' bad reviews. When I dine here I know that being in the heart of downtown, it is a restaurant that you should plan on spending more money than somewhere in the suburbs, that sales and alcohol tax is higher, and that it will be harder to get reservations than it is at your local Olive Garden. Knowing this, I make reservations at least a two weeks in advance, and I would NEVER expect to just walk-in. The nature of the restaurant is not one in which you just sit and order your food and then leave. Fondue is a dining experience, and you should expect to spend the time and money it takes to have that experience created for you. The food may be overpriced, but the price is definitely worth the amount of work and attention that the staff provides to you. This is not a restaurant where your server just drops off your entree and brings you your drinks. My servers have actually been the ones making the food at the table, not to mention spending 10 plus minutes explaining how fondue works for guests that I've brought along who have never done fondue before. Not to mention an excellent wine list at great, great prices. I will admit that it is dissappointing to have to wait for a reservation when I show up on time, but knowing how the industry works, and the fact that fondue is a long meal, I know that people sit for 3 plus hours, which must cut into other reservation times. I in no way would blame the restaurant for a long wait, but I instead blame inexperienced diners who have no common courtesy for other guests at the restaurant. I have been a guest here since it opened in 2003 and will continue to dine here. However, I do reserve it for special occasions and I never just drop in for a quick bite to eat.
Pros: Good service, great experience
Cons: Hard to get reservations

I plan all of the corporate dinners and events for an international restaurant chain. So I am privy to the ins and outs of the industry and have had comprehensive experience with other establishments and this restaurant is at the top of my list.
On numerous occasions I have utilized Bellanotte's private dining program and every time my expectations have been exceeded.
The staff is impeccable. Well trained, knowledgeable and always anticipating my guests needs.
The food is top-notch, and the servers will always make the best suggestions based on your palate. Their signature filet rivals those from any steakhouse in town and the sea-food is always jet-fresh.
I have hosted group events in both of their back private dining rooms as well as the "atrium" area.
The event space is breathtaking no matter where you dine.
To add to the ambiance they even have a live 3-piece jazz band in the restaurant!
Parking for my guests is always a concern and it's breeze here as there is always valet service available.
I have a demanding group that expects nothing but the best and that is what Bellanotte consistently delivers.
Pros: Exceptional staff, beautiful restaurant, great Wine list and remarkable menu
Cons: Some of the drinks are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I have been "following" Fugaise since it first opened, reading all of the reviews and knowing that I needed to visit. Why did I wait so long? I visited Fugaise for dinner last week, and had more than just great food and great service - I had an experience. I have to start with the food. Every bite was exquisite. Everyone at our table started with a spring pea risotto that was beautiful and delicious, with a strong, nutty, parmesan taste. We had three different appetizers and all were good, but the scallops were exceptional. Perfectly done. We had two different entrees (2 of us had the Halibut dish) and all three plates went away totally clean - the Halibut was perfect and the Pork Tenderloin the most flavorful I have ever tasted. Finally, we had a wonderful Chocolate Truffle dessert. We shared, but I got most of it. Lucky me! The service was friendly and present, but not overbearing, and the chef even came out to check on us and our meals. As I mentioned above, I had read a great deal about Fugaise, so I was prepared for a window-less space. What I was not prepared for was how this space made me feel like I left the world behind and entered a perfect little respite of a space where I felt totally welcome and at-home. Fugaise is a lovely place, with lovely service, and some of the best food in the Twin Cities. Don't hesitate to go. And don't wait as long as I did. I will be back!!
