al Vento is one of my favorite local restuarants. The mother sauce is to die for, the meatballs delicious, and the eggplant parmesean pizza outstanding. The pastas are fresh and perfectly prepared. The patio is lovely and often crowded on a nice summer evening. On one occasion, we were there with a small child and the host was more than happy to accommodate, even offering to make a special mac and cheese or cheese pizza for her. The servers can be a bit spotty, but the food more than makes up for it.
Pros: excellent homeade pasta, great atmosphere, patio

We recently moved to Edina and were told to try Fat Lorenzo's for a great pizza. They were totally right. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, but it was so worth it. The ingredients tasted like they just picked them and the crust was cooked to a soft slightly chewy bit of perfection. We also tried the Gelato Itialian Ice Cream, don't leave there without trying it, you won't be sorry!!

This place is the most authentic Italian restaurant in the entire Twin Cities, not the mention that it?s also quite romantic and has the best wine list around. If you looking for the real deal, try Arezzo.

Davanni’s has the best hoagies ever and great pizza. I would eat there every day if I could. They have a wide variety of hoagies, they also sell salads, calzones , lasagna, pizza, deserts and cakes. I have tried some of everything there but the cake and a few types of hoagies and it was all awesome. My favorite hoagy is the oven roasted chicken breast or the Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar w/Chipotle sauce. I would recommend everyone eat there, I have never had a bad experience there.

I love Pizza Luce because they have many interesting vegetarian options for pizza that is not the run of the mill veggie pizza. Barbeque sauce and mock dock, fakin bacon, pineapple. I love it! However their beer selections are not that good. The only real thing that is worth getting is their signature pizzas, their sandwiches and other entrees can be found anywhere else. The artichoke dip is super good as well-better than most. They have many locations that are convenient Lyndale S, Downtown, and Franklin Ave. in Mpls. Selby Ave. in St.Paul and they have one in Duluth as well. If you like Galactic Pizza you will also love Pizza Luce. Service is fine.

It not only has excellent homemade pizza in a ton of different varieties, it has great pastas, salads, appetizers, and huge sub/hoagies! They have great garlic bread too. You will not go hungry at Broadway Pizza..the servings are enormous. Each serving makes 2 meals for me. Broadway Pizza also has a great daily lunch buffet, which includes select pizzas, salads, and pastas. This is a great place for comfort food! This place is great for dining and drinks, they have rocking pizza, but if you want something else just look their menu over. a wide variety ranging from pastas to fried chicken. Friendly staff too :) Full bar is open till 2 am every day! Great out door dining too - right on lyndale so its close to the action!

On my birthday of last year my wife and I visited Vescio's in St. Louis Park, MN. It is located not far west of Lake Calhoun on Rt. 7. I have to tell you that this is an outstanding italian restaurant and I highly recommend taking a visit to this place. The menu is fairly large offering many options on appetizers and entrees. The restaurant atmosphere is relaxing perfect for any special occasion. But you do not require any special occasion to go - have dinner or lunch there anytime. It reminds me of the old italian restaurants in Rhode Island established by the old italians. Also available is a great selection of wine for those. The portions are quite big so be ready to eat with the menu prices being very fair for such a nice place.
Vescio's also has another location in Dinkytown (University of Minnesota) that I have not visited but should you live nearer to there, go.

If you are looking for a great place to grab a quick, authentic Italian lunch, the this is your place. Fabulous pastas, pasta salads, and lasagna. Can also purchase fresh pasta to go and homemade breads. Great service and great flavor.
