Great food, nowhere to sit 7/29/2002

I love their hamburgers, fries, pies, I have been eating there for years. Unfortunately, you can only sit at counter or get take-out. It is always crowded. more

Great burgers, pie, & service 7/29/2002

The burgers are fresh and delicious. The service is quick and attentive. The waiters are quick to refill your coffee and ketchup. The pies, especially apple or banana cream, are well worth the trip. And sitting at the counter, watching the crew work during the busy periods, is entertaining. Pros: inexpensive, delicious Cons: must stand and wait more

okay, the burgers are great and the waiters have been there since I was a kid, but the coolest things about the Apple Pan are: 1. those paper cone cups 2. the fact that every square inch of Pico has been developed to within an inch of its life--except for those hallowed 2000 square feet of Apple Pan-ny heaven. Quality Forever! 7/15/2002

Screw the service, the food is tasty! I personally like having my ketchup poured and the burger tossed at me. It's an old school burger joint, not the Ivy ya little prisses. ;) You can't get a burger and a piece of pie this good anywhere else in California. Quality Forever refers to the food which is all that matters at the Apple Pan. It ain't cute or kitsch it's just the best Burger in California! The food here probably was good, when the restaurant was new. However, time passes and frankly the food by today's standards is marginal at best. I believe Citysearch readers can get better hamburgers at a number of LA spots, AP is no longer one of them. I Don't Understand All the Fuss 5/30/2002

I get that the Apple Pan is a bit of an L.A. landmark, but the food is simply not that good. The burgers and fries were average. The man taking our order barked at us to hurry and the place is cramped and dark. And while it's nice that they've kept the menu basic with no extras for the burgers, etc., I like a little more variety. Ive had much better burgers and service and enjoyed the atmosphere at so many other places that I dont feel the need to ever go back. I got my fill of old L.A. on my first and only visit.
