I went here about a month after I got my cheeks pierced in Texas. I had these really annoying barbells in there...it sucked..I went here..they took them out and put tygon in and I'm pretty down with that. At fist I mostly went because it was close to my bus stop and I work downtown so it was a pretty sweet location in my situation but now I go there because I all ready invested. Well thats not the only reason, this place satisfies my piercing needs at a price I'm willing to pay so I guess I'd just be a pointlessly adventurous person if I went somewhere else. Plus I'm down with the piercers. Oh and this one I caused the backing to break off on the right side and made a late night trip to this establishment and got it switch outed. Raaad. I kinda didn't bother to get the other one shortened. I should probably do that but you know I'm pretty lazy whatevv. Anyway I plan on getting my ears gauged here in the future. Niiice. Pros: bomb food Cons: there isn't really food here more

WOW, A BODY MOD PLACE WHERE NO ONE SEEMS TO BE BETTER THAN YOU!! 2/10/2009

When I first started getting tattoos, I went to two or three different places before finding someone I didn't want to karate chop. Luckily, getting my first piercing was way easier. All i did was go online and it was clear I needed to check out straight to the point, and they did not dissapoint. The place is definitely clean and everyone is cool. I have many tattoos, but only wanted one piercing, labret. The guys working were really cool and there was no hint of looking down on first timers (like with a lot of my tattoo experiences) They were also very knowledgeable and explained everything in good detail. I have had problems piercing my ears in the past three times due to infections ( at crappy piercing places), but this one has had no issues including very little swelling and not even any real irritation. It's no mystery why they have three shops and are so popular, they understand a novel concept: customer service. Pros: Great service, clean, knowledgeable staff, friendly staff Cons: None. I hate driving downtown, but in that case I could have went to any of their other locations. more

One Perfect Piercing 1/13/2009

Yesterday I got my tongue pierced. Had read good things about STTP and decided it was the place for me. It truly was straight to the point. Asked what I was looking for, if I had any questions, and I was in. Only one person in before me. Then again, I went at about 3 PM on a Monday. Nick was super cool and made me feel at ease. This is my first not-in-the-ear piercing and it turned out wonderfully.\r \r Only issues I've had so far is with how long the barbell is because my tongue didn't swell up! All my friends said it would, and are now angry at me because mine didn't. Don't know if it was from the piercing being perfect, following the straightforward advice they gave me, or just something natural. Today is a friend's birthday and we ate chinese for lunch, sushi for dinner. No problem.\r \r If I decide to get more piercings, I will be returning. Thank you so much! Pros: Price (better than I expected), kind employees, great work on piercing, answered all my questions. Cons: Can't think of any, except maybe the barbell being difficult since I'm not swollen. :) more

Appointments means nothing here!!! 1/3/2009

I decided to have my piercing done at strait to the point because of all the great reviews and the wonderful things my friends have the say about them. I understood they charged on the higher end, but I am willing to pay for quality and good service. I called the day I needed the piercing done, and made an appointment for 5pm because I was in a time crunch and needed to be in and out, and on my way by 5:30pm. I got there 10 minutes early 4:50pm. Was greeted, everything great. I was sad to see they only had a small selection of jewelry options for the piercing I was having done. I selected my jewelry, filled out my paper work and was told it would be 15 minutes (someone else was ahead of me), that would be 5:05ish. A young man came over and fitted my jewelry. \r \r Then I sat, and sat, and waited, and waited. No one said a thing to me. I looked at all the pretty jewelry for other piercings I wasnt having done. I waited, and waited, and waited. At 5:20pm I walked out of there. \r \r Wow, way to win a customer, act like they are not even there. I am sure they are great piercers, but I never got the chance to find that out. Strait to the point, you lost business to this wonderful little shop on Hawthorne that has a great jewelry selection, piercers are friendly, and prices are cheaper. My piercing looks great and I had money left over for dinner! Pros: The place looks great Cons: Appointments mean nothing more

fun, empathetic, amazing piercists. 12/29/2008

so far i've been to STTP twice, and i'd never choose anywhere else. the piercists (mine being nick both times) are funny, pleasant, and patient with even the wussiest piercing victim.\r \r it's in a nice part of town and easy to get to, and one feels as though she's just hanging out with friends.\r \r wonderful place, plan on going there for the rest of my piercings. Pros: service, ambience, location Cons: price more

STTP is in a class all their own 12/16/2008

I've been an avid downtown Straight to the Point client for four years now, mostly working with nick. he is not only an incredibly professional person, but a heartwarming, giving and charismatic person as well. Straight to the Point is a reputable business with some of the most incredibly down to earth, dedicated and creative professionals in the industry. thank you for everything. more

Mixed experience 11/30/2008

This reviewer gives Straight to the Point 3/5 stars. I had a very mixed experience.\r \r I came to Straight to the Point because I have a lot of friends who recommended it to me. On the possitive side, the shop was clean. Everything looked really sterile. A guy in white scrubs with ""apprentice"" across the back greeted me and was very nice and friendly while I waited. Next I met Nick my piercer. He seemed a little agitated and kind of upset, which made me a little uncomfortable, especially because he was about to pierce me. In the piercing room, he seemed to get more and more impatient with my many questions, but soon caught himself and began calling me pet names such as ""sweety"" to calm me down. Unfortunately, I do not take very kindly to complete strangers calling me pet names, so this only made me more nervous about getting pierced. I was glad when the piercing was finally over, and then I went to the counter to pay. The piercing was a lot more expensive then other shops I called told me it would be and I remember feeling like Nick had been unclear about pricing before I got my piercing done on purpose. \r \r To be fair Nick could have been having an offday, which I think is true, considering all the other rave reviews on this site. I'm a possitive person and I like to focus on the possitive, so things I like about STTP include how clean the place was, the spray after care I was given, and the visual appeal of the shop. Despite my experience with the actual piercing process, my new piercing is healing really well and was clearly done by a professional. \r \r Thanks to all at Straight to the Point. I'll come back for my next piercing to give the shop and its employees one more shot.\r \r more

amazing place 11/16/2008

One of the most important things about piercing besides of course the cleanliness and technical ability of a shop is the experience i have while i am there. i have been to many shops and have on the west coast and have never had such a positive and fun experience. Straight to the Point not only gets my seal af approval on knowlegde, ability and cleanliness but also my biggest thank yous for giving me such a positive experience every time i come in. THANK YOU! more

Best place to get pierced!!!!!!! Professional Clean and Fun 11/11/2008

I LOVE STTP!!!!! Had I known about them early on all of my piercings would have been done by them. They are ALWAYS clean always friendly always professional. Whilst still maintaining humor to help you get through a nervous situation. I have a very dry sense of humor and every piercer I've had there has rolled with it. I would suggest them to EVERYBODY!!!!! I love all my piercings and every one has healed beautifully!!! When I call to ask a question about my piercings they are quick to answer. I have had my nose, my nipples, a VHP, and recently a microdermal. They also guarantee all their work when I lost a gemstone in one of my nipple piercings they replaced it immediately free of charge. Wasn't expecting that. Plus a couple months ago I accidentally ripped my nose ring out. They got me in early before they even opened and got it fixed for me. I have nothing but great things to say about them and ALL their employees. I and my friends that I have bought in have been pierced by Nick George and Emily all of them are FANTASTIC!!!!! Happy Piercing!!!!!! Pros: EVERYTHING!!!! PLUS AND MOST IMPORTANT FREE AFTERCARE Cons: None that I can think of more

only the BEST at STTP 11/3/2008

the first time i stepped foot into Straight to the Point i knew i would never go anywhere else. when i walked in, i had two piercings,, now almost a year later, i have 21. I had Nick do all of my piercings, and i vow to never let anyone else ever touch me with a needle. I am completely faithful to lending my body as a canvas of art for his impressive work. He, and everyone one else who works for the shop are EXTREMELY professional, and knowledgeable. The shop is immaculately clean and sanitary, and everyone wears medical scrubs as well. Every time i've been in for a piercing i get nervous, even though i feel i've done it a million times, but my nerves are always calmed, and its always quick and nearly painless. Every piercing has always come out perfect and healed BEAUTIFULLY. Over the last year of being a devoted STTP customer i can say, i've met some of the the most tremendously amazing people, that i am very grateful to have in my life. I will always recommend Straight to the Point and nowhere else. They are the best in what they do and you will have an awesome experience. ONLY THE BEST AT STTP!! love you guys and thanks for the beautiful art! Pros: QUALITY, CUSTOMER SERVICE, KNOWLEDGABLE , PROFESSIONAL Cons: ABSOLUTELY NONE!!!!! more

Best place to get poked with a needle 11/3/2008

I went in last week to STTP to get 3 one-points done. Nick was fantastic! He was so kind and helpful. I was really nervous about having it done but he calmed my fears and made sure I was doing well during the whole process. I have never been to such a professional place. STTP is the only place I recommend. Thank you! Pros: Friendly, caring and helpful Cons: None! more

STTP is the best. 11/2/2008

I have multiple piercings, which have ALL been done by Nick at Straight To The Point. He is the only person I will let pierce me. Nick is very talented at what he does & is also very passionate about it. He is very kind and very knowledgeable about the industry. Nick is great at setting the pace for someone who may be nervous about getting pierced. He works at a speed that is most comfortable for the customer and explains each & every step. I have received excellent service every time I have been in the shop. I recommend everyone who is considering getting pierced to check out STTP & ask for Nick!! You will be pleased with the service :) Pros: Great service, nice shop, talented piercers. Cons: None. more

By far the BEST piercing experience I have ever had! 11/2/2008

I've been meaning to write this review for about two months now, and was compelled to after reading the last review. My experience at STTP was quite the opposite.\r \r I?d been considering getting my nipples pierced for quite some time and a friend of mine wanted to get his eyebrow pierced, so we decided to go together. We chose Straight to the Point for two reasons, 1) I had been pierced at other shops in the Portland area and was unimpressed with the quality of my piercing and the overall customer service, and 2) STTP?s reputation spoke for itself. During the ride over, I changed my mind about whether or not to get pierced about 30 times so by the time we finally got there, I was really nervous and really unsure. We were met by Nick, who was friendly and welcoming. The shop was beautiful and everything was really clean, which made me feel more comfortable about getting pierced there. While our jewelry was being sterilized, Nick answered all my questions and corrected many of my misconceptions about nipple piercings. He had everyone in the room laughing and put me completely at ease. He decided to pierce me first, because I was so nervous. He explained every step, and was really really patient with me. He did things at the pace of my comfort level, rather than hurrying things along so he could get on to his next piercing, which I really appreciated. \r \r I was very impressed with Nick?s professionalism and knowledge of his trade. When you get pierced, you want to be sure your piercer knows exactly what they?re doing, and Nick definitely gave me that reassurance. \r \r My friend and I are both really pleased with our new piercings, and the cleaning solution Nick gave us makes caring for our new piercings easy. This was by far the best piercing experience I have ever had, and I tell everyone I know who is considering getting pierced to come to STTP. I plan on coming back to STTP and nowhere else for all my future piercings. Pros: Nick is knowledgeable and professional, the shop is beautiful, everything is clean, amazing customer service, good aftercare provided Cons: ABSOLUTELY NONE!! more

Good job with the piercing, but pretty unprofessional. 11/1/2008

I went into STTP to get my labret pierced and a good friend of mine came with me to hold my hand because needles kinda freak me out. I read one of the reviews on here when I got home and sat down to write my own review. It said that Nick did a bad job with the piercing but was pretty professional and I kinda think the oposite is true atleast in my case. The piercing went great and is healing up very nicely thankfully but I thought Nick was very unprofessional in a lot of ways. Lets just say that my friend was considering geting her nipels pierced while we were there but changed her mind quickly because she didnt feel like the enviorment was professional and didnt feel comfortalbe taking her top off. As a piercer, Nick is excellent, but he was to flirtatious for my and my friends comfort. When u decide to get a piercing of that nature you want to be sure that ur piercer is nothing but professional because getting pierced is painful and doing something that personal can be uncomfortable with someone u don't know, so for this reason, if I every decide I want something below the neck, I wont be comming back to sttp. I mean, he was super flirtatious and made me feel uncomfortable the whole time, but thats something u can deal with when ur shirt is still on atleast. i want to be sure my piercers mind is on his work, not on ""other things"" so for this reason, i think i will be visiting other shops for now on with piercers who are just as qualified, the price is much much cheaper, and i know i will be working with someone much more profesional. Pros: good piercing, free aftercare, clean shop Cons: unprofesional and very very expensive more

Despite the recommendation, I was really disappointed. 10/31/2008

I'm new to Portland, and I've been looking for a good place to get pierced. A friend of mine recommended Straight to the Point, so I thought I'd try it out. The shop was very clean and the staff were friendly, so I decided to go ahead with the piercing. Just a side note, I have 23 piercings, so I am fairly familiar with the pain and healing process associated with getting pierced, and I also know how to care for a new piercing. My piercer was Nick, and he seemed knowledgeable. He did an industrial piercing on me. Everything went well up until the needle went in. He seemed to hesitate with it and as a result, the piercing was not done properly. The jewelry puts a lot of stress on the piercing, and 2 and a half years later, the piercing still was not healed. I recently went back to New York and visited the piercing shop I used to go to and had them look at the piercing. They said that the piercing was very poorly done and that the piercer should give me my money back. Thankfully, they fixed me up in about 15 minutes and my industrial is now doing much better. I thought I'd give STTP another try and visited George, who pierced my eyebrow for me, and did an outstanding job. So I guess the one star is just for Nick, not for STTP in general. My second visit gets 5 stars. I talked to another friend of mine who was pierced by Nick and had similar complaints. So keep going to STTP, folks, just make sure your piercer isn't Nick. There are other experienced piercers who work there. Pros: George, cleanliness, the shop was very nice Cons: Nick and his lack of skill as a piercer more

Amazing experience! 10/30/2008

I went to Straight To the Point to get my cartilage pierced for the first time, and it was my first professional piercing in 6 years. The guys who were working there were REALLY helpful and had great suggestions- i was going to get both ears done at the same time, but they said it would be easier to do one at a time so I could sleep on the opposite side. I wouldn't have thought of this on my own, and I'm glad they were so forthcoming with good information. The piercing experience itself was great, the healing process has gone really well so far and I am really happy with what they did for me. I would totally recommend STTP!! more

A+++ 10/28/2008

So I went in to STTP today to get my nose pierced, and everyone was very friendly and helped me fill out all the necessary paperwork and pick out my jewelry. I was a little nervous to say the least, this being my first piercing other than my earlobes, and Nick - my piercer- couldn't have been more reassuring. He explained to me how everything would work, and it was over in a minutes, just like he explained. Afterwards, I was given thorough instructions, and reassurance that I could stop by or call if I had any questions or concerns at all.\r All in all an excellent experience, and I wouldn't have gone to anyone else! Pros: very sterile environment, patient and friendly staff, great jewelry selection. Cons: NONE! more

GREAT PLACE 10/19/2008

i went to straight to the point to get my cartilage pierced and honestly, i was amazed by how good that went. what made me want to get it pierced there was first the great customer service: they are ready to answer all of your questions and concerns. then, the sanitation is great, they clean and sanitize all of their equipment which made me feel very comfortable. finally, they really know what they're doing ! it was not painful at all just like they said and it the experience was very smooth. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this place if you wanna pierce anything! it really is great !!!! more
