I'm new to Portland, and I've been looking for a good place to get pierced. A friend of mine recommended Straight to the Point, so I thought I'd try it out. The shop was very clean and the staff were friendly, so I decided to go ahead with the piercing. Just a side note, I have 23 piercings, so I am fairly familiar with the pain and healing process associated with getting pierced, and I also know how to care for a new piercing. My piercer was Nick, and he seemed knowledgeable. He did an industrial piercing on me. Everything went well up until the needle went in. He seemed to hesitate with it and as a result, the piercing was not done properly. The jewelry puts a lot of stress on the piercing, and 2 and a half years later, the piercing still was not healed. I recently went back to New York and visited the piercing shop I used to go to and had them look at the piercing. They said that the piercing was very poorly done and that the piercer should give me my money back. Thankfully, they fixed me up in about 15 minutes and my industrial is now doing much better. I thought I'd give STTP another try and visited George, who pierced my eyebrow for me, and did an outstanding job. So I guess the one star is just for Nick, not for STTP in general. My second visit gets 5 stars. I talked to another friend of mine who was pierced by Nick and had similar complaints. So keep going to STTP, folks, just make sure your piercer isn't Nick. There are other experienced piercers who work there.
Pros: George, cleanliness, the shop was very nice
Cons: Nick and his lack of skill as a piercer
