I have used Roto-Rooter once in the past without issues, but recently when I went to get something from the basement, I noticed about an inch of standing water in my basement. I called Roto Rooter, told them that I had standing water in the basement and made an appointment for 9-11 that night. After several calls that they were running late, I was called after midnight to say that they would have to put me first thing the next morning and would call at 7:30 for an 8:00 arrival time. The next morning, exhausted from lack of sleep, I got ready by 7:30 to await the call. At a little before 8:00, they had not called, so I called them and they said that someone would be out. The lady on the phone asked if I had standing water in my basement and I told her that it was about an inch. A little before 9:00, the guy came. The first thing thing that he asked me was if I had standing water. I told him, "yes." He went downstairs, looked at the basement, told me that there was nothing that he could do because there was water and started to leave. I asked him what he was talking about and he told me that they need a pump truck to get the water out. The place where they dump the pump truck is closed on weekends, so "you will need to call back Monday." He told me that the water would continue to rise, but I needed to wait until Monday or call someone else. I wish that they had told me that before. I would have called someone else. They had the information, but wasted my time and probably made my problem worse. So, fair warning, they won't bring in the equipment to unclog a drain in standing water (understandable), but if you have standing water, don't call them on a weekend.
