I have bought wonderful little treasures at many of her sales....but.....the people who work the sales are sooo unfriendly that it's exasperating.\r The woman who takes the money...

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/11/2014

I went to an estate sale this weekend and while the contents of the home were absolutely amazing this ""lady"" and her crew were anything but. She is so rude and vile I will never return to another sale she performs for anyone. It is extremely sad when people have to liquidate and use a vulture like Margie Beegle as she definately treats the customer; who is ultimately paying for her less than professional service, like scum. Please beware that you will be treated like dirt on her shoes, if you are lucky. Oh, and let's not forget her minion, Jennifer, who could stand a few years at Emily Post's boot camp. Hey piggie close your mouth when your eating and talking and taking my money! Real class act, not! All of the postive remarks on her are most certainly from Margie or one of her low life minions as there isn't anyone that has actually been to one of her sales that feels as glowing about her as the reviews! Also, if you didn't allow such a slob of a bully, Jennifer, to berate customers you wouldn't need an off duty HPD officer. Sad! more

My Sister and I went to a Margie Beegle Sale this past Saturday, AND WILL NEVER RETURN TO ONE OF HER SALES EVER AGAIN. Jennifer, the cashier, is the most VILE, RUDE, IGNORANT ""person"" I have ever met. She shrieked at several customers (we should have walked out then) before berating my sister and I. Not only have I posted here, but also on several other review sites, KHOU, and Reddit. I hope everyone in the Houston area hears about this horrible woman.... Im pretty sure all the glowing reviews were posted by Jennifer...they all sound pretty similar, and I cant picture anyone ever calling this ""person"" Lovely...what a joke!\r \r After waiting about forty minutes to get into the house, we browsed for about two hours. There was a very friendly cop who mentioned a sold table at the front near the register. Since we had quite a bit of possible purchases and large bags are not allowed in, we misunderstood that we could hold them at the front until we wanted to purchase them. There was not a sign that said ""No take backs.""\r \r There are also many signs throughout the house that state items can not enter other rooms...they have to be put on the sold table. Never having been to any estate sales, we assumed that meant we could put stuff down and move on.\r \r So we had a fine time browsing for two hours...then the last thirty minutes, we decided to keep ourselves in check and put back items that we didn't particularly want after all. The woman at the register (apparently named Jennifer and the company owner's daughter) asked what we were doing, and so we replied that we check on the items to see if they are collectible before purchasing. She then proceeded to raise her voice at us that ""the sold table was that, sold, not thinking about. And many other people had wanted to purchase those items."" We had misunderstood the cop and said as much. She then yelled for him to come over and asked him if he had ""told these girls that they were special and could hold items at the front."" He calmly said no, and we apologized for the misunderstanding. She then shouted that she would not allows us to purchase any items and ask us to leave and have a nice day, dripping with sarcasm.\r \r There were many people in the room and all conversations stopped as she loudly berated us. When asked to leave we did so, but it was a humiliating experience that I do not wish on anyone. I understand that we misunderstood her rules, but shouting at us in front of others is not the way to go. She could have spoken to us as adults and gotten the same message across. I've never been so degraded!\r \r I'm sorry about the wall of text, but I've never received this type of behavior at any business...I work retail and at any respectable company that I know of this would have been termination if a manager/associate talked to someone this way.\r \r Yelp has a ton of one-star reviews on them and I wish we would have researched before attending the sale. \r \r TL;DR: Margie Beegle Estate sales has the worst customer service. Prepared to be shouted at if you change your mind about an item.\r more

My family went to an Estate Sale that this company was putting on over the weekend. While standing in line someone had called into ask a question about this sale. The person running this business answered the phone and told the person that they needed to come to the sale as she could not help them. The person I think asked again and the lady said ""Sir, Are you on medication to where you can't undertand English"" and again told the person that they needed to come in to see their sale and hung up on them. Lady!!! If you want to run a business you need to RESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS! Every person in your line heard you be rude! I put my items down and left the Estate Sale as if you treat people this rude on the phone you don't need my business and I will NEVER come to any of your Estate Sales ever again. Your a VERY RUDE PERSON! more

Every time I go to Margie Beegle sales, I end up walking away with some great stuff. The search through the house for something that interests me is what keeps me going to estate sales and Margie has some good stuff. I come with cash but if I didn't bring enough, they take credit cards too. I highly recommend their sales. more

I used Margie Beegle Sales for an estate sale for a member of my family. The family really couldn't have been more satisfied with the results. They gave us an estimate on what they could get on the collection from their buyers and they exceeded they their highest quote. Truly a great company for estate liquidation. more

I go to estate sales every week looking for resale. Some of the best products I have ever found have been from Margie's sales. I follow her rules and have happily been going back for years without incident. The first time I attended one of her sales, I put all of my stuff on the sold table in the front room without reading the signs above, on, and under the tables that said ""all items sold"" and then debated a item. It was very expensive but I read the sign and was told that I pulled it off the floor for over a hour at the beginning of the sale and had to buy it because everyone else who came for it lost the opportunity to buy it. I bought my whole pile without arguing and made a killing reselling it. I have been going back ever since. more

I love going to estate sales in Houston and Margie's are some of the best. I have filled my house with estate sale decor and get compliments on the unique items on display all the time. more

I go to Margie Beegle sales on weekends to look for interesting accents for my interior decorating company. Over the years, I have bought everything from stained glass windows to doors to sets of books to wood floors to tiles to bookends, needless to say, if it can be put in a house, I've bought it. I really enjoy going to the different houses every week and seeing how they have arranged all of the items to be both ascetically pleasing and convenient for shoppers. I highly recommend their sales. more

I have been shopping at Margie Beegle Sales since I went to a estate sale near Port Arthur they had put on. There was loads of stuff at really good prices. I go into Houston from Port Arthur a couple times a month and when I do, I always stop off to see what kind of furniture or tools I can find that week. I enjoy the older solid wood furniture that actually took a craftsman to build and I can usually find something at one of their sales that interests me, if not in the house then in the garage with the tools. I follow all of their rules and have yet to have a problem with the staff. I have seen some people steal or break stuff and get kicked out, but that is life. If you read all the signs and handle yourself like a mature human being, you'll do fine and you will find a bargain. more

I have been going to Margie Beegle sales every week since I was 17 years old. At 22, I still go to their sales on a weekly basis. As a customer of other estate sale companies in the Houston area as well, I can say that Margie Beegle is by far one of the best in Houston. Their prices are low and the merchandise is quality. I will keep going back as long as they are around. more

Margie Beegle Sales are a fantastic bargain. I went to a sale last December where every item in the house was still in the package and was far better quality than what I would ever buy from the store. I went back every day of the sale and left with a full car every time. It was the best estate sale that I have ever been to and, since then, I have been and will continue to go to every sale that they have. more

DO NOT GO. THEY ARE RUDE and will treat you like scum. All of the positive reviews on here look the same, they are certainly all written by the same person and someone from her camp. There isn't a person out there that would write a positive review. Most of her customer know that she is rude and while they do get good sales, the people in line talk about how horrible she treats people but they keep coming back and taking her abuse. She doesn't have a clear process, it changes from week to week. You have to make sure you read 8000 signs posted in the house all over the house to follow the rules or else you will be kicked out. \r I'm an pharmacist, not a second grader, but she doesn't even treat you like a second grader, you would expect to be reminded/redirected if you mistakenly broke one of her 8000 rules, not kicked out. She has been in business for a long time, and she will always be the same, she is a bitter person who is so ugly on the inside, if you attend you can be the judge for everything else. Consider your self warned. more

MY WHOLE FAMILY HAS BEEN BANNED from Margie Beegle estate sales all because I changed my mind about purchasing a $25 glass bowl. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!\r \r Jennifer banned us from all of her future estate sales after I changed my mind about purchasing an item I had put on the ""sold"" table 20-30 minutes before we left. As a customer, you are not allowed to walk around the house with items in hand, even if you plan to purchase them. So if you decide you want to purchase something but also want to keep shopping, you have to put the items next to her at the check-out table. \r \r As my family was ready to leave, I told my mother I changed my mind about buying the bowl. At that moment, my mother told me Jennifer was going to throw a fit about me changing my mind. I laughed and said outloud that Jennifer was not going to make me pay for an item I did not break or steal. Jennifer overheard our conversation and in a failed attempt to intimidate me said to me in a threatening tone, ""Young lady, you cannot leave without buying the bowl"" (P.S. I am a 30 year old woman). Making fun of Jennifer and this sudden ""rule"" she is trying to force upon me, I said to my father (as I am laughing out loud) ""I can't leave until I buy the bowl."" Also recognizing the humor in this situation, my father laughed and told me what I already knew, that she could not make me buy something I did not want.\r \r Jennifer yelled at me as I was leaving the sale and told me my family is no longer allowed at her sales. (She continued yelling more insults at me in front of the other costumers but I don't know what she said because I tuned her out and just kept laughing to myself.) What a joke!!! And what a classy lady!!!! Where in the world are shoppers not allowed to change their minds? This all took place with the police officer sitting right next to her by the way. He didn't say a word. What could he have done anyway, put me in handcuffs for refusing to buy?? HA HA HA. \r \r Also, Jennifer has ""rules"" posted all over the walls of the house and nowhere is the ""no changing your mind"" rule posted. My mother knew the rule only because Jennifer did not let my mother ""change her mind"" about buying items at a previous sale. more

By far the WORST experience I have ever had in public!!! Jennifer is the nastiest and most sadistic human I have ever crossed paths with, and I have several other friends who are quick to agree. From what I hear, you can always count on one thing at a Margie Beegle sale----Jennifer and her ""arm of the law"" will be harassing and humiliating at least one person while you are browsing through the house. He is quick to threaten you with his handcuffs. Kinky little duo, if you ask me. more

I have been attending Margie Beegle Sales for 3 years, ever since I was in high school and found one of their sales. I go to several sales every weekend put on by several different companies. I attend Margie's weekly sales with great regularity. Not every sale is for me and not every item is priced to my liking. That said, when I feel an item I really like it too high, I go home and go back the next day and get it at 30 or even 50 percent off, hoping its still there. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They do a better job setting up the houses than many companies I attend as well, with stuff grouped together such as sewing, records, movies, books, clothes, sometimes going by decade, etc. \r Some stuff I like is not priced, they have signs up EVERYWHERE saying that things not priced will be priced at checkout and it's truly not a big deal. What I do is go through the house and find stuff I like and pile it up. When I'm ready, I go through the pile. The stuff with prices on it has to be bought if brought up to the checkout but the other stuff I can take or leave I have no problem with that system, every once in a while someone in line does.... Just a head's up though, when they have signs up saying all of one item are a certain price unless marked otherwise, that counts as the item being priced and something you can't back out of at checkout.\r They don't allow kids under 15, I started going to sales when I was 16 so it wasn't a big deal for me but I'm just letting y'all know that. more

I go to Margie Beegle estate sales on a weekly basis and have done so since I found their sales as a freshman a few years ago. As a new college student, I decided to take my limited spending money and increase it. I did this first by buying stuff from garage sells and selling them on amazon and ebay. Finding out that my unusual buys were desirable to collectors, I expanded my shopping to estate sales and found Margie Beegle sales which I use to stock my little etsy store. \r \r To begin, unlike most estate sales in the area, all of Margie's sales actually have an HPD officer working security as opposed to most others who just say they have security because they have guys working there. Then, the house is set up in a manner where its not hard to find stuff. Some companies just open up the house and have people dig to find anything and the company didn't know it was there (has happened to me a few times around town). Some people freak out when they hear that the employees cannot help people move furniture; personally, I have not had a problem with this because they explained to me that employees are not covered under the company's liability and it is not hard to get people to help move stuff with you, other customers help too. \r \r They use experts to price things with the intention of the price starting at half of retail, on the second day of a sale, things are discounted so if something was a good deal on the first day, its a great deal on the second... IF IT IS STILL THERE. Several times, I have gone on the morning of the 1st day and found a really interesting item but wasn't sure about the price vs. resale. I get home, look it up, and find out I can triple or quadruple my money with ease. I go back the morning of the second day and it is gone. You have to buy interesting when you see it.\r \r In conclusion, I will keep coming back to Margie Beegle Sales at least until I graduate next year, hopefully for years to come. I hope to see you there, too! more

I go to at least 3-4 estate sales every weekend and Margie Beegle sales are always my favorites. I just read some of the remarks here and frankly I think someone is 'stuffing the ballot box' because I see the same HAPPY people at every sale and I can guarantee you the folks who follow the clearly posted rules do not have any of the issues mentioned in some of these complaints which appear to be works of fiction. \r NO, estate sale workers do NOT tote your purchases to your car... clearly posted & on the website notice. \r \r NO, children 15 & under are NOT allowed on the grounds. Signs are posted all over the website & wkly sale notices. \r \r YES, clients change price tags (that's the LEAST of it, they also break pieces, steal pieces, empty contents of boxes, toss merchandise abt w/no concern for the next customer, tear or otherwise damage paper goods, etc etc). \r \r Bottom line: If you are looking for top quality merchandise @ 50% (& more!) off retail the first day of the sale... and another 50% off the final afternoon of the sale... then get yourself right over to Margie Beegle Sales. Act right and you'll be treated with respect. Behave badly and you may be chastised. Respect deadlines. Several staff have other jobs they're rushing to immediately after the sales. Some staff frequently have other appointments immediately after the sales... so... just because you walked in at 3:45 p.m. for a sale announced to close AT 4 p.m. doesn't mean anyone at the sale will be able to accommodate your request for 'just five more minutes'. \r \r Margie Beegle Sales is responsible for looking after the best interests of the owner of the estate. The success of each sale depends on having rules and insisting those rules be followed. \r \r Now... off my soapbox... I do appreciate the tons of photos posted before each sale so I have at least an idea of what is available. I love the way we're encouraged/allowed to 'make a pile' and have noticed prices are frequently better when I purchase a whole bunch of something. Otherwise, I guess the best thing I like about Beegle sales is the huge variety of merchandise. I often walk in thinking there's not much of interest there for me, but walk out with several huge bags of great stuff. Enjoy estate sales!!!\r more

My friend and I stopped by one of their sales and everything was either way over-priced or not priced at all. The lady at the register was really rude to the customers and overreacted in anger to anything said to her. When my friend asked her how much something cost, she snapped at her, then accused her of taking off the tag. \r \r I've been to many estate sales in the past and I have never come across anything like this. There are other estate companies in Houston so there is no reason to use this one. I will be double-checking in the future not to return to one of her sales. more

easily the nastiest, most unprofessional company i've come across in a long time. it is run by jennifer. she is disgustingly crass to her customers and sneers at anyone who asks her a question or tries to haggle. NOWHERE did it say you can't haggle. don't want to? just politely say so. but no, she tries to humiliate anyone and everyone she can. if you want someone to treat you badly, by all means, go to her sales. you will not leave feeling like you got something special, you will leave feeling like you've been ripped off AND insulted.\r \r i made the mistake of trying to make a complaint, in which jennifer just lies about being a lawyer and tell me that i'll be forcibly removed from the sale. REALLY?? no wonder they hire a cop at their sales. my guess is jennifer regularly picks fights with customers, and some of them probably don't take very well. good job hiding behind your cop and lies, jen.\r \r terrible people don't deserve your money. i'm sure she lost several customers that day because of her behavior, and now reading the reviews here, i can see that this has been going on for a while now, and mine wasn't the only incident. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/25/2012

Today I experienced a horrific experience at a Margie Beegle estate sale in Seabrook, TX. My older sister has a daughter that has been in a coma for 10 days in septic shock not left the hospital and needed to take a break. I talked her into leaving the hospital for a short fun time of going to an estate sale. It was 15 minutes before closing time when we arrived not knowing that the sale ended at 4 pm. After being there about 5 minutes several people started shouting loudly they were closing in 5 minutes. I started to go down stairs but stopped briefly to look around when my sister was told to hurry up and get down stairs that they doors were closing. This 65 year old woman has Rheumatoid Arthritis and told the person that it takes her a few minutes to go back down the steep stairs. But before going down those steep stairs she had asked a worker if she would hold a table for her while she went to go find out if there was room in the car. After finding out that the small end table would not fit she inquired if she could have her husband come and pick it up because she was on her way to St.John Hospital in Nassau Bay. The woman at the cash register believed to be named Jennifer said she would leave it out side to be picked up. My sister declined to purchase the table at that point but did have a few other items in her hand, 3 pieces of corning ware, a metal serving dish, doiles and one set of table linens. At closing time everything had been reduced to 50% off. The cashier at the register was not only rude she advised my sister that she owed $ 66.00 and at that point my sister requested that her small purchase be retallied the cashier rufused, and in a very ugly tone of voice started calling my sister a thief and yelling she was unethical, not once not twice but over and over. My sister stole nothing only changing her mind about the $ 66.00 purchase. I quickly paid for the few things I had not wanting to escalate the ugly situation. As I walked out the door I noticed the paid off duty HPD officer enjoyed the show as much as the cashier enjoyed putting on the show of humilating, degrating, being disrespectful and devasting a crippled 65 year old woman. Jennifer the cashier should be ashamed of her unethical, unprofessional, and disgraceful behavior. I threw away my purchases and will not go to any estate sale given by this group. What a disgrace to the elderly and furthermore the cashier and the HPD officer owes my sister an apology. I am more appaled that the police officer allowed the ugliness to happen. My observation of this event is that it takes small people to bully others and are cowards. This group disgust me and found joy in being evil to others. How sad for them. more
