The Estate Sale Company with a heart, (they save animals!) and (very, very) FAIR~ FUN~ and FRIENDLY! 1/27/2009

JUST FOR THE RECORD... I AM A REAL PERSON AND WROTE THIS REVIEW. DID MY REVIEW SHOW UP AS A PLAGURIZED ONE? I'D LOVE TO KNOW! THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I WROTE. A LOT OF REVIEWS APPEARED AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE (AT A SALE) THE OTHER CUSTOMERS AND I GOT TO TALKING ABOUT THE SKETCHY REVIEWS THAT HAD SHOWN UP ABOUT BEEGLE SALES AND WE WANTED TO SHARE OUR EXPERIENCES TO SHOW THAT THERE IS ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW ABOUT THEM.THANK YOU~ SHAUN COHN Hi fellow estate sale shoppers~ Margie Beegle's sales are clean, well organized, the traffic pattern flows readily, and the policeman makes me feel safe among the occasional riff-raff that haunt estate sales. All of the aforementioned is very nice and all but I don't really care about all that. What I love is that I can collect a box full of random stuff and it is SO WELL PRICED. I am not one of her big spenders, I leave with purchases totaling less than 20 dollars, but she still greets me warmly and I know she's not just doing it to keep a big spender happy! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the digger sales. It is like treasure hunting! Now I never bother going to any of the other estate sales but I am still on their emailing lists. I am amused by how often I get amended emails from them with ""OOPS! WRONG LOCATION listed, so sorry!"" or ""Attention, this sales been cancelled."" I saw that she looked tired one day and it turned out she and a friend were up until 4 am (and mind you, she had an estate sale to run the next day) trying to catch some feral kittens in a part of town she was unfamiliar with because these cats ran the risk of starving. It turns out that this was no isolated incident. She spends a lot of time and money saving pets, feeding animals, keeping them out of shelters, and finding them homes. I will sometimes give her a dollar or two towards her animal saving efforts. If you go, you may want to consider it. One last thing. I have been to a few of her sales when people were given the boot (deservedly so, remember the riff-raff I mentioned earlier?) Anyway, guess what I thought the first time I saw someone getting the old heave-ho? I thought ""I bet they go home and slam Ms. Beegle's business on the web"". And I bet some of them have! One of the other things I like about her sales is the large cadre of Beegle shopper's, hard to imagine so many people would follow her around town unless her prices and services were worth it, and they are. See you there! Pros: Realistic, fair prices. Unlike the other's, who price ""optimistically"". ANIMAL SAVER!!!!!!!! Cons: Now I can't bring myself to go to other estate sales! more

Great Estate Sale Company 1/19/2009

It has been my experience over the years that Margie Beegle Sales have been perfessional in their handling of their company. I find their items for sale to be good for the consumer and good for the seller. Their prices are usually very competitve and reasonable. I enjoy doing business with them, and attending their sales is always a fun, exciting time. more

The best estate sale business in Texas! 1/18/2009

For the last 23 years I have decorated my home with items from estate sales. I have been both a buyer and seller. I believe that I am familiar with all of the estate sale companies in the Houston area and rank Margie Beegle Estate Sales as first class, actually in a class all of their own. The reason for this is the hard work , professionalism and compassion of Jennifer Beegle and her entire team. As a client Jennifer was compassionate, knowledgeable and accommodating getting me top dollar with less than 3 days notice that I needed to have a sale. The members of her Team are knowledgeable about antiques, collectibles, linen, crystal, toys, rugs, records, books and just about anything else you can think of. If they do not know they research the item. Jennifer made one of the hardest times of my life fun. From the point of view of a buyer I never miss a sale if I can help it. The sales are beautifully arranged from the time the door opens to the time the last buyer leaves. Through out the sale her team is ensuring that items are well displayed and neat. Prices are fair. If I am just looking for fun then I know to go the last day. If I see something I can not live without I stand in line at the opening of the sale. The rules are clear; all buyers are treated with respect. I feel safe at the sale since security is always on site. Over the years I have learned not to bother with other sales and just go to Margie Beegle Sales. Jennifer is a companionate professional expert in her field. I recommend her to all of my friends. Pros: The quality of the goods sold, knowledgeable staff, and fun environment Cons: I travel and cannot make all of the sales more

Margie Beegle Sales - Professional and Honest 1/15/2009

Margie Beegle sales are always very professional and well run. I love the fact that small children are not allowed - it's heaven not have to dodge giant strollers or duck running toddlers.. The merchandise is always well displayed and well organized . The only excepection are the ""digger sales"" and with those the staff makes it clear that the buyers will be treasure hunting and looking for wheat among the chaff. \r The e-mail notifications are always honest and give an excellent description of what to expect. The staff includes many, many pictures on their website so I don't waste my time going to sale that doesn't have anything in my area of interest. The prices are fair - she takes good care of her clients and knows that her first duty is to them, not the buyers. Security is always on site, the rules regarding sign in sheets and pricing are clearly stated and fairly enforced. The staff circulates and makes sure that things stay tidy and misplaced items are returned to the proper area. The price reductions are always announced in advance and I know just when to return should I want a cheaper price. I know she'd be the only company I""d call if I ever needed to hold an estate sale. Pros: Great merchandise, excellent e-mail notifications Cons: Cause of my day job I can't get to all their sales more

Best Estate Sales in Texas... 1/15/2009

I attend estate sales almost every weekend & can tell you Margie Beegle sales are without a doubt the most well organized & attractive of all the sales I attend. The items are grouped with like items & attractively displayed..(well, sometimes 'items' get tossed here & there in the excitement of shoppers...). Layout is consistent from sale to sale which makes it easy to go straight to items of particular interest to me. \r \r As far as rude behavior (which I read in some of the comments), I will say I've seen plenty of rude behavior from customers who perhaps think they're at a garage sale. Estate sales are a business & the families who hire Beegle Sales expect expect Jennifer to get the best price possible for them. While I'm sure some items slip through at far less than their value, I know Jennifer has a large contingency of experts who come in specifically to price items within their expertise. While this may mean the customer pays $50 for a book selling at a used/rare book store for $100-$150... the book is still a bargain for the collector. Would I rather find it for $2 at a garage sale? Of course. Do I? Not often.\r \r Most of the items I purchase are for resale & I've been able to make a nice profit... enough to keep me coming back for several years.I am a very considerate & polite person & have never had an issue with anyone at the sales. They're there to protect the merchandise & to help clients. I've witnessed theft & price changing (or tag removal) & don't have a problem with employees keeping a close eye on both the merchandise & the customers. Signs clearly state rules for 'Digger' sales. There is never an issue if you don't like the quoted price. Standing at the check-out arguing w/Jennifer only slows down the line. Don't do it.\r \r It is likely many customers would have a far different outlook if the contents of the sale happened to be the belongings of their mother or father.... all in the eye of the beholder. Pros: great variety; name brands; well organized; FUN! Cons: I can't afford everything I want... more

Rude Staff 12/25/2008

I found that the staff was rude. Many of the items were not priced. This made it difficult to know how much I was spending Cons: unmarked items, rude staff, more

Super Estate Sales in Houston 11/20/2008

I love Margie Beegle estate sales. I have been going for several years and have found lots of interesting treasures for my home. I am always impressed with how clean and organized the sales are each time! more

Professionalism with Treasures Galore (plus an occasional bargain) 11/20/2008

I'm a frequent estate sale shopper, and I try hard not to miss Margie Beegle's events. She and her staff set fair and reasonable prices, stage the homes in ways that are appealing and organized, and control the in-flow of customers so that I can move around without running into others. I know that the prices she asks are consistent with the Houston market, and if I'm lucky I even find something special on the second day of her sales when prices sometimes are reduced. \r \r She employs the same helpers consistently, which means I often run into familiar faces and feel quite comfortable. Ironically, she even has a consistent set of shoppers so we often encounter familiar faces while standing in line visiting about our estate sales experiences. As other reviewers have mentioned, she does have very clearly defined rules for how she transacts business, and customers are well-advised to heed those parameters. \r \r I have never had the need to employ Margie Beegle as an estate sale service, but from a shopper's point of view, I mark her as #1 in my book. Pros: Variety of and professionalism add to quirky shopping experience Cons: Not really a con, but I wish she could host a sale every day of the week! more

furnished entire home at Margie Beegle Sales!!! 11/15/2008

We've shopped Margie Beegle Sales for more years than I can remember... but the last few weeks have been unbelievable. Had new friends moving to Houston and they decided to leave most of their furniture instead of paying to have it moved cross country.... based on my stories of great stuff I'd found at Margie Beegle Sales! They decided the money they'd pay to a moving company would be better spent shopping the estate sales... so... for the past 4 weeks we were among the first in line @ 5 different sales. \r \r This past weekend was the lalapaluzza (i KNOW that must be spelled wrong??) of estate sales. Needless to say my friends are very happily moving furniture today. They said this experience has been so much more fun than dragging all their old stuff... imagine just starting off buying everything one needs vs hassling with movers. \r \r Shopping the weekend super sale was great fun for me... always a lot more fun spending money belonging to someone else!\r \r I recommend everyone visit Margie Beegle Sales if looking for a professional organization where the rules are clearly posted and the sales staff is well informed and helpful... and, the biggie, there is more STUFF than anyone can imagine. My friends literally bought everything from custom made sofas to potholders to appliances. Have fun! Pros: researched items & found best market; frequent communication; written contracts & information; accepts credit cards at sale; huge mailing list to attract most customers Cons: won't allow clients to attend own sale :-( more

I alway enjoy her sales---The best 11/15/2008

I have been going to their estate sales since 2003. I have always had a good experience. I have shopped with alot of different estate sale companies over the years. Beegle has their act together. They are priced fairly, well organized and professional. This company must have the largest mailing list because they have the busiest sales and the longest lines.\r I like the staff alot. They are friendly and always remember what I am interested in. Pros: Well organized and priced fairly. Cons: I spend too much money at her sales. more

Unfriendly Srevice/Usually Great Items 11/4/2008

I have bought wonderful little treasures at many of her sales....but.....the people who work the sales are sooo unfriendly that it's exasperating.\r The woman who takes the money never smiles or has a kind word as far as I've seen. This entire staff seems rude & indifferent. Many items are overpriced.......but......I keep going back because she has many great items in her sales and I LOVE the hunt. more

lack luster sales at best. 9/8/2008

I frequent estate sales quite often as they are great places to find interesting items at good prices. I would say this company lacks both, not only is the quality of their merchandise suspect the prices are greatly inflated. The staff is rude and disinterested when asked questions, also one staff member slapped at my hand when I went to pick up an item. My best advice would be to avoid any of their estate sales unless you enjoy poor quality over-priced goods sold by rude pretentious people. more

Great Estate Sales 6/24/2008

I went to an Estate Sale and they had a lot of stuff. Most of it was reasonably priced so I would definitely go back to another one of their sales.\r \r Pros: Lots of items to pick from\r \r Cons: The lady that collects the money is a bit intimidating and is easily agitated if you look at the stuff on the table that other customers put there to hold. Oh maybe she was just having a bad day or something. Pros: Always love a great Estate Sale Cons: The lady collecting the money was not very pleasant. more

Fun Estate Sales 5/25/2008

For the most part, I had a lot of fun at Margie's estate sales with my friend Chris, who goes often. Items are reasonably priced, and prices are sometimes negotiable. I would go back. Pros: Items reasonably priced and well-displayed Cons: One staff member sems a bit snobby and followed me like a hawk, perhaps because I'm brown. She should not be so quick to jump to conclusions based on appearances. more
