Today I experienced a horrific experience at a Margie Beegle estate sale in Seabrook, TX. My older sister has a daughter that has been in a coma for 10 days in septic shock not left the hospital and needed to take a break. I talked her into leaving the hospital for a short fun time of going to an estate sale. It was 15 minutes before closing time when we arrived not knowing that the sale ended at 4 pm. After being there about 5 minutes several people started shouting loudly they were closing in 5 minutes. I started to go down stairs but stopped briefly to look around when my sister was told to hurry up and get down stairs that they doors were closing. This 65 year old woman has Rheumatoid Arthritis and told the person that it takes her a few minutes to go back down the steep stairs. But before going down those steep stairs she had asked a worker if she would hold a table for her while she went to go find out if there was room in the car. After finding out that the small end table would not fit she inquired if she could have her husband come and pick it up because she was on her way to St.John Hospital in Nassau Bay. The woman at the cash register believed to be named Jennifer said she would leave it out side to be picked up. My sister declined to purchase the table at that point but did have a few other items in her hand, 3 pieces of corning ware, a metal serving dish, doiles and one set of table linens. At closing time everything had been reduced to 50% off. The cashier at the register was not only rude she advised my sister that she owed $ 66.00 and at that point my sister requested that her small purchase be retallied the cashier rufused, and in a very ugly tone of voice started calling my sister a thief and yelling she was unethical, not once not twice but over and over. My sister stole nothing only changing her mind about the $ 66.00 purchase. I quickly paid for the few things I had not wanting to escalate the ugly situation. As I walked out the door I noticed the paid off duty HPD officer enjoyed the show as much as the cashier enjoyed putting on the show of humilating, degrating, being disrespectful and devasting a crippled 65 year old woman. Jennifer the cashier should be ashamed of her unethical, unprofessional, and disgraceful behavior. I threw away my purchases and will not go to any estate sale given by this group. What a disgrace to the elderly and furthermore the cashier and the HPD officer owes my sister an apology. I am more appaled that the police officer allowed the ugliness to happen. My observation of this event is that it takes small people to bully others and are cowards. This group disgust me and found joy in being evil to others. How sad for them. more
