Bon Appetit is a quaint french cafe on Franklin Turnpike in Mahway, NJ. I have visited the cafe many times and have enjoyed their pastries, quiches and coffee. Open for breakfast and lunch, this cafe is a find along a very busy stretch of commercial and residential road.
Entering the cafe, you immediately smell the goodies which are awaiting you straight ahead in glass display cases. Sit at a small table and enjoy your breakfast or lunch, or have it to to go. I have tasted all the croissants (plain, chocolate, raspberry and cheese) and am hard pressed to decide which I like best. In addition to croissants, there are a number of savory pastries to tempt your palate. These include, mushroom and cheese, ham and cheese and broccoli. Take some home to heat up for lunch or a light supper. These pastries are not for the diet conscious--flaky, buttery and simply delicious. Come on, splurge a little.
The cafe also serves lunch and you can enjoy a quiche, sandwich or salad. What I especially enjoy about eating here is that the food is served on ceramic dishes--not styrofoam or paper. This adds an elegant touch to the meal and for some reason makes the food taste a little better.
Service is polite and no one rushes. So sit, relax a little and enjoy something wonderful.
