My son and I have made a habit of visiting new places on Tuesday nights when my wife and daughter are otherwise occupied. Since we both enjoy BBQ, we've made trips to many of the Q joints in the area, some that we've found good and others not so good. This was a trip I'd put off for a long time, but I had the taste for brisket tonight, so I thought the time was perfect.\r
No, it's not much to look at from the outside, but being housed in an old Frisch's pretty much guarantees a mediocre decorating scheme from the start. Who cares? Inside the menu is fairly simple, which is a point in its favor. I chose a brisket sandwich with baked beans and mac & cheese. My son went with a pulled pork sandwich with mac & cheese. I watched as they sliced the brisket for my sandwich. From a distance it looked great, with the meat piled high and pieces slipping off of the bun as I carried it to the table. I grabbed a piece to munch on while I was getting my drink, and couldn't wait to get back to the table.\r
The verdict was just what I'd hoped for; a new favorite BBQ destination. The brisket was tremendous, the mac & cheese likewise. The beans were also very good. I forced my son, normally a pulled pork steadfast, to try a piece of the brisket. He agreed that it was great and said that he'd have a brisket sandwich the next time we chose BBQ Revue, which will likely be soon now that the weather is turning colder.\r
One other thing to mention is the iced tea. In BBQ joints this is a crucial part of the meal. It has to be sweet, but not tooth-rottingly so. The tea here was fresh and came in three flavors, sweet, unsweet and raspberry. I tried all three because I've found that this is an area that a lot of places stumble. BBQ Revue didn't disappoint and we'll definitely visit again.
