Cheap Chinese & American Food Downtown 2/9/2007

A long line of downtown workers on their lunch breaks snaked out the entrance of this lunch counter that serves both Chinese and American food. The restaurant is long and narrow, those that opt to eat in experience communal dining as there are only stools at the counter and no individual tables at this diner. Service here is speedy and you can watch your food being prepared as you wait. The main attraction of Uncle John's is its daily lunch specials, that feature heaping plates of rice and faux Chinese options like cashew chicken or bbq pork for under $6. The breakfast specials are even cheaper, try a short stack of pancakes, bacon or sausage, and eggs for a little under $4. Be sure to bring cash as Uncle John's doesn't accept credit or debit card. The advantage of this is that tax is included on the stated menu price! Pros: Quick service, Large Portions, Inexpensive Cons: No Parking, Counter only seating more
