Great Museum District Restaurant! In the past year I have been to Zeus on several occasions. Whether it is for Easter brunch with the family, dinner out with friends or hosting vendors from work, the food and service have been outstanding.\r \r The atmosphere is great with two dining rooms and the chalkboard menus. The wine list is excellent and the food superb. I recommend the fried oysters, arugula salad, meatloaf and veal meatballs. Sunday brunch is also fantastic.\r \r Zeus is my favorite fan area restaurant. If you are in town for a day or a long-time resident, this is a great restaurant. more

Best meal in recent memory! 12/9/2011

I recieved a gift certificate last christmas to Zeus Gallery Cafe and almost forgot about it.It was about to expire, so I thought I had better use it & Boy o Boy am I ever glad I did. I had heard little about the place, other than it is a little pricey, but a very cool place.\r The friendly service was Excellent, & the food was soooooooo good. Starting with the fried oysters {the Best I ever had} to the crab cakes {lump meat, not too much filling} to the N.Y. strip steak{almost melt in your mouth, cooked just right & so tender} to the out of this world dessert, it was the best meal I have had in a long time. I can't wait to go back again, hope I get another gift certificate this year! more

Worst dining experience ever 11/4/2011

I ordered scallops and they were terribly overcooked to being scallop jerky. I sent them back. When paying my bill I was verbally assaulted by the owner as "" the only person to have complained that night"". The owner then proceeded to verbally assault me to the door AFTER paying my bill. He was looking for a fight and I was ""it"". All in all a very unusual and unfortunate anniversary dinner. I wont be back. Ever. more

Excellent Experience Everyone 7/1/2011

I was a guest for Mother's Day at Zeus Gallery Cafe in Richmond, VA, my daughter and son-in-law took me, the food was not the usual but very good. We were very pleased with the experience and would recommend others to dine there. The food is not what you would find in any other restaurant and the taste was very good. more

Horrible Experience 1/26/2008

We were really looking forward to this dining experience, but it turned out to be over a three hour meal with thirty minute waits between courses. The filet was undercooked, the servers were confused and uninterested, and even though we made reservations, we still had to wait over half an hour for a table. It was very frustrating, we will not return, and we want to warn people not to go there. Pros: There might be potential Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE = horrible experience more

good food, great wine, 6/29/2007

I highly recomend this quaint little bistro. I just moved into the fan disrict from the d.c. area and was told by neighbors that this was the place to go. they did mention that they had'nt been for awhile due to the ""nasty service"" but assured me that rumours said that the waitstaff was new, and the old servers had vacated the premise to open up a place called carsons. I was pleasantly surprised by the food as well as the knowledgable and attentive service. The thing I did not understand was the wine list, ( it was on a large chalkboard ) Luckily my server explained not to worry about it, she would guide me through the list based on my likes, and what I was having for dinner, and price range. (she also said that if I didn't like a bottle we chose, not to worry.) My husband and I had a lovely dinner, definately up to par with the D.C restaurants of which we are accustomed. They even had our favorite dessert, a molten lava cake. The cake and the night was done to perfection. more

Bad Brunch Experience 8/20/2006

Our particular waitress on this particular afternoon was very unattentive to her section. At each of the key points of server / customer interaction, there was a distinct, prolonged wait. This was seemed true for every other table. From being greeted, getting refills, checking on how things were, getting the check and paying for it, all contained prolonged, eventually irritating stretches of waiting.\r \r This is somewhat acceptable if the place were just a madhouse of people (customers and other wait staff), but it wasn't.\r \r Poor service ruined a so-so brunch. Maybe dinners are better here but at Zeus Gallery our brunch made this writer feel more like Sisyphus, having to wrangle the wait staff and work for our meal than enjoy it.\r Pros: Quaint little dining get away, typical of Richmond Cons: poor service on this day more

Big things in little packages 8/13/2002

Tiny little dark restaurant in the near West End side of the Fan. Still think it is the best restaurant in Richmond. Menu changes daily and I have never had a bad meal. Bring your wallet if you are going. Hard to keep bill under $100 for 2. However, you won't go home hungry or disappointed. Great wine selection (except need more Oregons and Washington States). Pros: food Cons: price more
