Over the past 30 years, I've been to several area vets. Most are good, but Balcones is exceptional. Both Drs. Wood (senior and junior) are able to quickly and efficiently evaluate health issues, explain thoroughly what needs to be done to rectify situations and give me clear instructions. Their "bedside manner" is firm, but gentle, and my pups feel safe in their care. Two weeks ago, my golden had a burr stuck between the two lower eyelids. I had an appointment within two hours, and In less than ten minutes, her eye was numbed and examined, the burr extracted and I had a bottle of antibiotic in my hand. I highly recommend this place! more

i ready the reviews about the rude receptionist, she must have moved on. I have been in 5 times in the past 30 days and no rudeness. My 3 dogs have gotten great care from caring people. The techs and vets are also kind to the pet owners. the prices were affordable and reasonable. My favorite dog is going back next week for a hernia surgery. I will let you know how it goes! So far I highly recommend this vet clinic. Do be aware they are very busy and stay booked solid 1-2 wks in advance, so plan ahead for annuals and standard care. They do make time for emergencies so please be patient when you go for your scheduled appt. Sometimes the vets are trying to save a life and your rabies shot will need to wait a bit. A small kindness would be for the patient not in urgent need to be a bit patient. The great care they need will follow. more

We've been taking our English Bulldogs to Dr. Wood for 2 years now and are extremely happy with the care they receive. Dr. Jason Wood and his staff listen attentively and provide great care! Our dogs actually look forward to going to the vet!! Prices are extremely reasonable and they work hard to accomodate a sick pet on their schedule. Having been to a "bulldog specialist" who charged me upwards of 5 times what BAH does for the same service and prescriptions, I truly appreciate the level of care - and love- they give my babies. more

I recently moved to Austin from Houston. My cat was ill and I needed to see a vet right away. My boss referred me to Balcones Animal Hospital. The staff from the technicians up to the veterinarians are amazing. They make you feel right at home and you can tell they really care about animals. Dr. Jason Wood even has his home number on his business cards and, at a later time, gave me his cell phone number. Now that is something unusual! The costs are ridiculously competetive (read: low), particularly when you consider the kind of personal service you get. They also do a lot of pro bono work for animals: low cost neutering for ferals, free work on some strays that they then adopt out, etc. This is one of the best clinics I have ever visited; I would recommend them to any of my family and friends. more

This is one of the first places I took my animals when I moved to this area and has been among the best I've come across. The Vet's and Tech's are so great with animals that you know you're getting the best care available, when they care. The office is nice and pet friendly and the prices are more reasonable than I would have expected for the area of town. Overall, it's a great place to go for all of your pets medical needs. more

After being dissatisfied with my old veterinarian clinic, I decided to call around and ask for prices. I was very shocked to hear how much the prices differed from clinic to clinic. Balcones Animal clinic is very close to my house and was one of the least expenive, so I decided to give it a try. My dog has been going there for over a year now and I have been very satisfied. The offices are very clean and airy. more
