My daughter became engaged several months ago, and as she is my only daughter, just wanted everything perfect. Checked with my friends and her friends and started the search for wedding photos and portraits. When we saw their pictures, we were just loving the quality, saw pictures of weddings of my daughter friends, and I was looking at her knowing I would definitely let her pick Wendell Powell, but ready for the sticker shock- however the shock was they ended up being less than other photographers we talked to, and hands down the most gorgeous pictures you have ever seen. They also could not have been more accomodating.\r They picked up our wedding gown for our bridal portraits which we did not ask them to do, but they offered as I was making the appointment- a lovely surprise- as we could just come straight from the hair appointment. My daughter has never looked so beautiful and the pictures we had to take home and choose from were just stunning. I really appreciated being able to look at large pictures, and not a computer screen. They were totally aware of all our deadlines for newspapers, framed our portraits while we went over wedding day details- even loaded our portraits in the car for us. As for our experience the day of the wedding, Norman was our photographer, and he remembered the names of the wedding party- they all loved him. It's tough to get a good picture of everyone having fun, and we have no idea how he managed- in a way that was so unobtrusive- and he worked so hard to be everywhere he needed to be. We have the most beautiful pictures, and we also have a printable dvd of all the wedding pictures.\r All I can say to any mother planning a wedding in Richmond, I made our decision to use Wendell Powell Studio, and everytime I was asked by friends, the club, bridal shop, cake person, florist, Richmond Newspaper, etc, who our photographer was, they just raved over their own experiences with Wendell Powell, and confirmed I had made the best choice. I usually do not write opinions, but they deserve a huge hug from us for giving us wonderful memories and doing their part to have our day be perfect!! Wendell Powell Studio takes arguably the best formal bridal portraits in the Richmond area. Their photographs stand out head and shoulders above other studios in wedding announcements in the local paper. They use very natural lighting, and take plenty of photos for the bride-to-be to choose from. The final product is absolutely gorgeous!\r \r One downside is that they do not have a great selection of silk flower bouquets to choose from for your portrait- bringing your own bouquet, whether real or fake, may be a better option. The most significant downside is that they do not give you a CD of all your bridal portrait images to take home with you and keep. You literally only get the portraits you pay for, and they are very expensive. Every other portrait photographer I had heard of in Richmond provides the bride-to-be with a CD of images. Perhaps this is the price you pay for getting the ""best"" in Richmond.\r \r I would recommend Wendell Powell to others, with the caveat that it is pricey and you get no take home CD with a standard package.
