Editorial review from Citysearch 1/24/2014

I literally just had an experience with these folks. 2 men came out to repair a roof that was only a few years old... while the younger man was pleasant and attempting to explain what had been repaired to ensure that no further leaking occurred, the older man was short, snippy, and actually said to me ""It's fixed"" and then to the younger man in the middle of his sentence ""Let's go."". Really?? Customer service fail much? It's a shame that the trade off has to be solid workmanship for a poor attitude and demeanor. more

I called ""roofing gurus"" and THESE GUYS: ""Union Roofing"", show up. They originally came by and told me it would cost $350 and would do the work the next day at 11am; 4 days later they show up at 6 in the morning, start banging on my door, wake up my whole family, with 3 trucks, engines running, guys screaming, they knocked on all my neighbors doors till they found the guy parked in front of my house and told him to move. All this for a $350 job?\r \r He knocks on my door a little later and tells me to hurry up because I'm going up there with him, I climb 3 stories at 6:30am and look at what he could have showed me in pictures; the roof has leaks. Then he said ""now lets go inside and talk numbers"". We go in and he quotes me $7,400 for a repair. I already had 4 quotes for *a brand new roof* including new skylight all in TPO, and the *highest* was $6,500, Union was talking about just putting repair board over everything, even rotting wood, and putting in 2 vents so ""the rot could breathe"" so I told him we had to think about it.\r \r He said if I do it right now, he will offer one time, great deal of $6,400. After insisting for about 15 minutes I'm not going to decide today, he told me he would wait in his truck while we talked it over and went out the door, but it turned out he was standing right by the door listening the whole time. After bragging about his company for a while we said we aren't going to make a decision today he turned around, threw his right hand over his head and said ""Alright see ya! I'm busy!"" and left abruptly.\r \r He called the next day and offered $4,600. I said I would let my wife know, and he said ""Alright but do it now and call me right back."". I said sure and hung up.\r \r The next day he called at 6 something in the morning to tell me ""good luck, I'll wait for you to call me when the guy you hire f@%ks up your roof"". This guy woke me up to swear at me for not hiring him. The biggest jerk I've ever met in my life. I wouldn't trust him pulling potatoes in my garden.\r \r Union Roofing also goes by ""Philly Roofing"" and ""Roofing Gurus"" to avoid all the bad reviews on Union Roofing. But Philly Roofing's website redirects to a viagra store now and Roofing Gurus contracting license has expired, and it was for gutters, not even roofing! They both use the 12260 Townsend rd. address and are all the same identical scam artists! more

These guys are terrible! (and jerks too!) 3/25/2012

Unfortunately, it seems like the roofing industry in Philly is full of con artists & manipulators, and UNION ROOFING is no exception. Beware of Frank Jr. arriving to your house at 6:30 am to overwhelm you with all the problems with your existing roof, even if it was them that originally installed it. When I moved in, I needed a roofing certificate immediately to gain insurance approval, and because of the urgency, I didn't have enough time to shop around....what a mistake. I basically paid the same price for a tar & paper roof as a rubber roof would've cost from another vendor. I got ripped off, you shouldn't...protect yourself from these idiots. more

Impeccable Service!!! FIVE STARS!!! 10/30/2011

Union Roofing completed my roofing job just about a month ago. They were prompt, courteous, professional, accurate and most of all they were willing to work with me. These gentlemen showed up on time, as stated, the estimate that was initially given to me never increased and in these tough times Frank Jr. (lead man) was more than willing to accommodate with pricing. He was upfront and honest at all times. I have recommended this company to several of my friends and will continue to do so. My father, who is a general contractor, after thoroughly evaluating the work, said they did a fine job (and he's not easily pleased). Philly Roofing will remain to be my roofing company of choice!!! more

Unexpected revised estimate 8/22/2011

I requested an estimate to get my porch roof, including framing, fixed because the front soffit is rotted thanks to the leaky roof. Of the 3 estimated I received, this one was the best, so I scheduled them to come out & do the work. While I knew that the final cost would probably come in higher than the estimate, I was not at all prepared for what actually happened! more

Great work, good people 7/3/2011

We have had Union Roofing complete our needs for over 15 years. The men are always respectable and the girls in the office are helpful. Calls are returned immediately, availability has been immediate, and I have never had a problem. I recommend Union Roofing to friends and family, and they have never had a problem. more

It now rains in my house 5/3/2011

After having UNION ROOFING replace my roof ,My ceiling in my house began to condensate to the point that it began to rain from my ceiling. I called them to have them look at the problem and was told that my roof did not need to be vented and what was happening was normal. I could not accept this so I called a freind of mine and he looked at it and said my roof as it is will last maybe 10 years(30 year roof). And that it will cause damage to the structure of my house because of excess moisture that will build up because the heat cannot escape. They charged me an extremely high price and did not do a professional job ($8700 after a quote of7500). DO NOT USE UNION ROOFING. more

greaseballz 12/9/2010

THEY ROBBED ME TOO!! 10/14/2010

I'm just stunned and sorry i didn't come to this site before these guys were done robbing me. They came to my house and said they would have to do $10,000 worth of work with a few teams just to replace the roof n fixed damaged areas they claimed. Since the original quote i had from everyone else was 1,700 these guys claimed they will put a new roof and fix the damage for $2,500... guess what they didnt fix anything, just put in a new roof for the 2,500. I reallllyyyyy dislike these people im reporting them to BBB!! on and by the way there weren't even any damages!!!!! more

ROBBERS 8/26/2010

I whole-heartedly agree with the below 2 reviews. Union Roofing seems to have a $10,000 fee for all of their roofing jobs regardless of the problem. And no- they will not uphold their contracts or keep copies of their records even thoough they are able to automatically send notifications of their $1,000.00 re-asphault jobs every 3 years. DO NOT use this compnay- they are rude and ruthless. And BVEWARE- Union Roofing is also affliated (owned by) with Philly Roofing- if you call one, the other will come. I would sauggest not using either. I would have rated this company with no star at all, but that option was not available. more
