I absolutely love this place and highly recommend it to any sushi lover. Go during happy hour for great prices on sushi and drinks!

Although most of the food I tried has been decent, I have to say my take on Umi has significantly decreased since I first went a few years ago. Portions have gotten smaller and sm...

Good atmosphere. Fresh sushi. Bit pricey but better compare to other choices in Seattle. Rolls are great. more

Love all their different kinds of rolls. Surprised how much store space they had for the tiny entrance. Highly recommend this place. more

Umi OOOOh My 6/19/2006

Went here last Friday night - just missed the happy hour, which looked like a great deal and had definitely lured people in - it was packed. Pretty, asian decor - with a beautiful outdoor courtyard that was closed to us for a private party. It was loud, however. Immediately upon being seated, we had free flowing edamame brought to us and the sushi rolls and specials are....interesting - a lot of spicy options, a few good deals, and for the sake conosseiur - they had a BOOK of choices. I will go back...for happy hour when it is cheaper. Their cheap spicy tuna roll was heavenly. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Recessed lighting, minimalist decor and a cool slate floor set the scene at this chic, urban sake house. The low-ceilinged bar space attracts Belltown trendseekers, while a quieter night can be had on the enclosed atrium in the back, where skylights and potted trees evoke the feeling of outdoor dining without interference from the variable Seattle weather or noisy downtown revelers.

    The Food
With a dizzying selection of pan fried, baked, grilled, steamed and raw items, a meal could be built from the appetizer menu alone. Try the "Tower of King Crab," comprised of generous slices of king crab, avocados, snow crab, and tomato salsa with cilantro and yuzu aioli. While an array of hot Pan Asian dishes are offered, the seductive sushi selection is the real star. Sample the house roll with silken scallop, cucumber, tobiko, and avocado, all wrapped in a ruby-hued cocoon of tuna, or go straight for the daily fresh sheet and follow your server's suggestions.
