I sat down in this fun, funky joint one afternoon after work - plum tuckerd out and waiting for my husband to meet me here. I saw PBR and decided to order one - but wait! Olive Oyl, my waitress, suggested that for the same price I could try a microbrew because they were on special tonight. Yay! I sensed a friendly, you-can-be-one-of-us-even-if-you-are-wearing-business- slacks-and-don't-have-any-tatoos kind of feel - which I appreciated. And, the pie was delectable. People were having fun and relaxed - and even though we were both starving, we couldn't finish our pizza because it was so huge and packed with topping goodness. Nice!

My husband is sort of a haircut junkie - he is always wanting a haircut. Granted, his hair is short, but c'mon...anywhoooooo- Rudy's is his new fave. He can always walk in to the downtown location and get a cut within 20 minutes or so and they have good music playing (sometimes a little loud) - and magazines for me to read while I wait for him. OR - while I am waiting I can sit at Cyclops on the corner for a delicious drink and appetizer. Good Stuff - and it's always a great cut that seems to last a little longer than the rest.

This is the most generously topped pizza I have ever had....ever. period. We stopped here after hiking Mt. Si, so appetites were raging - and we couldn't even finish half of our small pizza - the toppings are slathered on and will fill you up. We got half pesto and half CB - I'm not a fan of CB to begin with, but the pesto - my oh my, there must have been a pund of feta on that baby and loads of artichoke hearts and olives and yum yum yum - I will stop there everytime I am coming home from skiing, hiking, anything up I-90. Tehy have pizza by the slice from 11 - 3 and I will opt for that next time - no need for more.

I agree with all - Cactus is a great and refreshing alternative to the humdrum mexican restaurants found around Seattle - and for anyone who has spent time in the southwest, it will feel close to authentic, with a bit of trendy splashed in. I can't wait for them to open their new place on Alki in the old grocery store - with open walls on the water side - should be incredible!

What people may not know about the Celtic Swell is that they also serve breakfast. If you are headed down to Alki for a weekend morning stroll, I HIGHLY suggest this place for something a little different. Huge portions of delicious breakfast morsels - with real, thick Irish bacon and hefty potatoes - I don't think I ate for the rest of the day!

Went here last Friday night - just missed the happy hour, which looked like a great deal and had definitely lured people in - it was packed. Pretty, asian decor - with a beautiful outdoor courtyard that was closed to us for a private party. It was loud, however. Immediately upon being seated, we had free flowing edamame brought to us and the sushi rolls and specials are....interesting - a lot of spicy options, a few good deals, and for the sake conosseiur - they had a BOOK of choices. I will go back...for happy hour when it is cheaper. Their cheap spicy tuna roll was heavenly.

Great happy hour - I was floored with our $8 cheese plate came loaded with more artisan cheese than I could buy at Costco for the price. Apparently, they have a deal with Beechers down at the market. TRULY generous portions (My husband with an enormous appetite couldn't even finish it all). I have heard they have a martini to die for if you like spicy - something with a jalepeno floating in it - not for my taste but my $5 dirty martini was BIG and good and I'll be back - very hip, swanky decor, too.

A work colleague convinced me that this is the best place for dim sum and...well, it's pretty darn good! I am still a fan of Jumbo on Rainier Ave. S., but HoH is clean, and the carts were literally upon us immediately- a great place to go for a fast lunch, you just might want to go with someone who knows what they are doing the first time, because they were moving so fast that we couldn't keep up and ended up with way too many shrimp dishes. But the food was all excellent and I am craving another opportunity to go back.

I really like Bee Waxed spa. The owner, Bren, runs the show by herself, so you cannot always get in at the last minute and she suggests especially making early/late appts.. 3 weeks in advance. I never imagined I might actually fall asleep while getting my brows waxed, but she finds a way to make it a relaxing and enjoyable experience- and- she uses geranuim oil immediately after any waxing and plucking to allievate redness and swelling. Worth a shot, especially if you live in West Seattle.
