Twice Sold Tales/university

This is not the bookstore to shop at if you are looking for non fiction. Mystery and general fiction are the heart and soul of this operation. The mystery section in particular has a lot of depth to it. There are many cats in this store so you may not want to visit if you are allergic. Customer service is okay as are the prices. more

Twice Sold Tales has a few locations in the Seattle area. I normally stop by the one in Capitol Hill. I checked out the store on University Way about a week ago and was surprised by the general disarray of the store. Books were just piled on shelves or tossed on the floor, it wasn't very clear where sections were located, and even the semblance of topic sections seemed to blend into one another. In general it made browsing or looking for a specific topic quite tough. The prices are still good, even considering this is a used books store, and you may find a decent book among the clutter. Unfortunately, the general disarray, while possibly intended to yield a casual feel, does not lend itself to a enjoyable browsing experience. more

Twice sold tales offers a wide selection of used books, both fiction and non-fiction, with a large fantasy/sci-fi section for a store its size. It would be a nice place to escape the noise and congestion of 45th street and lazily browse the isles, if it weren’t for the cats. Now, I’m not a cat-hater, I just don’t like encountering them when I’m not expecting them (and they have a nasty habit of making that happen). And I think they made me surrender my backpack up front more to protect the cats than the books. So enjoy yourself, but don’t get caught off guard (you might get hit with a flying hairball). more

This is the kind of place where you accidentally lose track of time while checking out all the books. You flip open a book to take a look at it - next thing you know, you are halfway through it and it has been 30 minutes! The bookstore has a few cats who live in there, as all good used bookstores do. They have a pretty big selection that changes frequently and the people who work there are knowledgeable and friendly. more

With several locations throughout the Seattle area, this is always a great place to find your favorite author or fall in love with a new one. The sales people are friendly and knowledgeable, even about obscure authors. The selection is a little limited, but they are very willing to point you to another book store if they don't have what you're looking for. And hey, it ain't Barnes and Noble, so they have that going for them! more

With its cavernous rooms, masses of books, friendly (if shy) cats and the unique feature of keeping all the Beat authors locked up in a cabinet in front, Twice Sold is the prototypical used book store. Great selection of books I acutally want to read, and a decent rate of turnover, make it better than most. They have the standard "50% of list price" pricing scheme for most books, making older books in particular a great deal. You can wander through science fiction or nonfiction in the back for many a happy hour. more

This is a great store to browse. I sometimes go just to look and always find something that I cannot live without!!! There is a huge selection and they have things that I couldn't find anywhere else. If you are looking for a used book, this is the place to go! more
