I've only had their pizza once so far, but I was pleasantly suprised! The crust was delicious and the sauce was good too. We got the veggie pizza and everyone who worked there was really friendly as well. I am an east coast pizza snob and I will definitely go here again. I would certainly recommend it. The calzones and strombolis look great too - the menu as lots to choose from, including a bunch of past dishes, fyi.

I am sooooo glad I found an Andronico's near Mountain View. For the past few weeks I've been searching for an acceptable grocery store. The Albertson's in the San Antonio Shopping Ctr is ok, especially in conjunction with the Trader Joes, but why go to two stores when you can get everything you need and the quality you want from one? The Andronico's at the Stanford Shopping Ctr isn't as big as the one in Berkeley, but it still seems to have a good selection of high quality produce and other items. The deli is great too. The only downside would be fairly narrow aisles so when it's busy, it's pretty irritating. Try to go on off hours to avoid that. Overall, this store is fantastic!

This Safeway is gross. The produce is terrible. There were actually rotting bunches of basil sliming up the shelves in one area when I was there. It was nasty. The aisles are small and crowded in this particular Safeway as well. I would highly recommend checking out the Albertson's across the street instead. In Seattle, the Safeway I used to go to in Ballard was fantastic. Maybe the quality of Safeways isn't as good in CA. I'll continue my search.

The Tied House Brewery is a fun place to hang out. The beer is good and the building itself has a nice atmosphere and is great for large groups. This would be a good place to go for happy hour. The food is not great though. It's either super greasy fried dishes or bland boring pasta or fish. Don't go here for dinner (unless you want a burger) but do go here for some beer and appetizers.

Definitely go to the bar after 9pm for some great food and drinks cheap! They have a fantastic after 9pm happy hour. The food is pretty good and if you go in the summer you can sit outside and enjoy Lake Union. Definitely a great hangout. Also a good place to take large groups. Unfortunately I've never eaten in the restaurant part, so I'm not sure how that stacks up.

What a local gem! This is the coolest brewery I've ever been too and the tours they give are fantastic. If you haven't been, you have to go! They let you sample tons of beer in a real pint glass (none of that beer in shot glass crap they give you at Red Hook). This place hasn't sold out yet, which is refreshing. The guys who work there are the best and are very knowledgeable.

This place is not that great. I only used to bother going here because it was close to where I worked. They did occasionally have some decent sales, but the produce didn't look that great, and the seafood section was absolutely nasty - lots of flies and it smelled gross. I would never buy any meat or seafood there. The deli was ok - though super overpriced and very few decent vegetarian sandwiches. Overall, I don't like any of the Larry's Markets, and would much rather go to the PCC.

It is a fun place to browse and you can find nice gifts here sometimes. Definitely worth checking out occasionally.

You can't beat Ikea for the quality you get for the price. When I first moved out here, I too tried to get furniture elsewhere because I didn't realize, but all of the non-Ikea stuff I got was MUCH more difficult and cumbersome to assemble, it looked cheaper, and has deteriorated more quickly. If your highest priority is quality for cheap, then Ikea is really the only place to go. If you have something particular in mind and are willing to pay a little more, as it sounds you do since you said nothing was in stock, then I guess it would be worth checking out some other furniture stores. Overall though, if you are just looking for a bed or a kitchen table or something and are strapped for cash, Ikea is the ticket!
