Best

In my opinion, best Tex-mex in Austin! Mex martinis a must, stuffed avocado you'll dream about. Tinga anything will blow you away! Always A+

Worst

Bad Experience over all 3/1/2011

Come on people you got to be kidding me! I hadn’t been to Trudy’s in a while so we decided to go there this past Saturday, afternoon, Feb 26th 2011. I was so disappointed and disgusted in our experience....The waiter and drink sucked! First; our waiter was horrible and disgusting, he was slow, didn’t listen when we asked for something. We had to ask for stuff a second time, such as, straws for our water, when he finally brought them he touched the straws all over with his hand/fingers and then inserted them into our water glasses, which grossed us out and we couldn’t drink our water or proceed to eat our food. Second, we ordered the Mexican martini and all you tasted was limeade and water mix. It tasted awful, but we didn’t return our drink, because we were grossed out and disgusted by our waiter. Very disappointing! more

Not for family gatherings 2/22/2010

We were told they would not push together tables so our combined families could eat together as that would upset the wait staff. This was both on the enclosed patio which was mostly empty and the interior as well. It is incredible that a supposedly family place has no provision for groups of that size or more. -1 is my rating.. we went elsewhere Pros: spiffy exterior Cons: couldn't/wouldn't move tables together to seat family of 9 more

great experience 10/28/2009

I have always had a great experience here. I wouldn't describe there food as anything fancy but the crunchy tacos and queso are what I recommend. Great service, great mexican martinis, great food. Will be back soon. more

While overall, Trudy's isn't the best Tex-Mex in Austin, it does have teh best single dish in the city. The stuffed, fried avocado is unbeatable. I... more

Should NOT have moved 8/4/2008

Went to the new location on I-35, food is ok, the chicken enchilada sauce tasted like sterno, and the ambiance is great FOR A SINGLES BAR but not for a party of 13 with kids that want to sit together. BAD MOVE MR. TRUDY!!!!!! Will not go back to this one. Pros: I am still thinking! Cons: Noise level, lack of attention to a group of 13 that is going to be forced to pay a gratuity more

happy hour 4/10/2007

This is probably the best Trudy's location if you want to minimize your wait. I highly recommend going here for happy hour or drinks, but I don't really recommend the food. I have never been impressed with my meals here, if you want Mexican Austin has far better places. If you want a good drink and fun atmosphere, go with Trudy's. Also really fun for getting birthday boys/girls drunk on Mexican Martinis! Pros: drinks, ambience Cons: waiting! more

Good food if you can get in 4/20/2003

Trudy's South is synonymous with waiting. However, the food is worth it. There beef fajita quesadillas are incredible. The salsa is good and they give you two kinds which is a bonus. The service is no joke. I have never been let down by Trudy's, but I've not gone in because of the huge lines. Pros: Good food, Good service Cons: Interminable wait more

the central location is better 5/20/2002

Yes, the ritas and menu are the same, but, the atmosphere at this location isn't nearly as charming as the Trudy's close to campus. The glass-enclosed smoking area around the bar is a little stiffling. more

Gotta love the ritas 5/12/2002

I like stepping up to the bar and ordering the food up there. The dining area is pretty cool, but I just like the bar more. It tends to get smoky in there (only smoking area), so it's not for everyone. Mexican martinis are yummy and should be limited to 2, trust me. The migas are good, but the fajitas are my favorite. The staff is very nice and always accommodating. more
