Not impressed 3/1/2012

I went to The Tile Guy looking for tile for my kitchen backsplash. The place seemed so disorganized. It was hard to even distinguish what they were selling from the piles of samples sitting on the floor and on tables. The service wasn't wonderful either. I was ready to pick something and write a check on that visit and the sales associate didn't really seem to care nor wanted to help me. I wouldn't recommend this tile store for the lack of organization and unhelpful sales associates. more

Best place for Tile 3/27/2009

When people compliment us on our backsplash tile I credit John at the Tile Guy with the selection. He took the time to work with us and suggest combinations that worked with our color scheme, style and budget. And when our contractor got our job mixed up and tried to order 14 square foot of glass tile rather than the 1 square foot we had arranged as an accent, the Tile Guy took the initiative to call us to double check and talk with the contractor. Great customer service, and great selection of tile too. Pros: Customer service, selection, hours more

Great service!!! 5/8/2008

I was very pleased with the service from this store. I was looking for granite tile (Uba-Tuba). I looked for it in a few other places and they would force me to purchase boxes of 10 units and they could not deliver it in less than 4 days. I called the ?Tile Guy? and John not only was able to sell me the exact quantity I needed (12 pieces), but also made it available in the very next day for a better price than the competitors. Pros: Good service, short delivery time, fair price Cons: None so far more

See Tile Guy for your Kitchen or Bath remodel! 8/31/2007

These ""Guys"" are why I like to shop locally and why Austin is known for it's ""mom & pop"" type businesses! They have expanded since I had them provide the travertine & honey onyx mosaic for my master bath. Now they have a much bigger area to display all their choices. \r \r (I'll put this near the front) they were cheaper on honey onyx than other tile sellers I called and even cheaper than the one Ebay seller I found!)\r \r First of all, John was so helpful, polite and sympathetic with my indecision over granite choices. He set me straight on suggested granite to go with the brick pattern honey onyx I wanted for my back splash. He must have the ""designer"" gene because he could tell which granites were too green, pink, etc. and whether a granite had enough ""contrast"" to go with my tile. He made arrangements for me to get a sample so I could drag it around with me. Their granite examples were nice because they were big squares which you could remove from the wall and hold up against your wood, backsplash, etc. This was easier than using the little chip the granite yards provide. And he has several colors to look at.\r \r Then after I had decided on purchasing the tile, Cristian was also polite & helpful writing up my order. You wouldn't think a tile store would need to be worried about customer service BUT they do! He helped me calculate how much I needed and had suggestions for the questionable areas (behind the oven). He was willing to keep the tile at the supplier until I had someone to go get it (it was heavy!). Then he called after I picked it up to make sure everything went well and I got what I ordered.\r \r One little snaffoo - when I picked it up at the supplier they were going to load only 40 sheets. Fortunately I had my receipt which showed I paid for 50 sheets. They gave me the additional ones and said they'd work it out with the Tile Guy and I never heard anything more so guess that was just a fluke.\r \r Nice bunch of guys! (Kendra) Pros: Great price, selection and customer service Cons: A little out of the way but worth it! (Anderson Lane) more
