I must say that I don't like going to get my hair done and have strayed away from the embarrassment of sitting in a stylist chair wondering what she is thinking about my hair...but at the Hair Clinic, I felt SO comfortable!!!! I had an appointment with Rita and she provided a consultation about me going natural. I had a document prepared to ask questions, that I didn't even really get to use, she answered every question without me even having to ask!!! She was very knowledgeable about hair, very encouraging and I left that shop with so much confidence! I plan to go back again!!! The atmosphere was great and the salon is nicely decorated...definitely an excellent place to go for hair care!!! more

I got my hair doen at The Hair Clinic Austin for the first time last Wednesday! I chose Shari because I heard she has the best styling skills! MY HAIR IS TO DIE FOR. I have gotten so many compliments I cant wait to post pics. I love the warm cozy yet trendy environment. Everyone there was really nice and upbeat. I couldn't stop eating the candy provided lol. I am a PICKY customer, and TRUST me, The Hair Clinic is a great place to get your hair done!!! We all have our hair done to look nice, but as important to me is hair care. This salon takes great care to ensure your hair is both healthy and beautiful, as indicated in their name. The Hair Clinic gives equal importance to both. The sylists are some of the most talented I know, so much so that my mother flew in from DC to have her hair cut by Annie and once you've had your weave done by Shari, all other work will be grossly inferior. Having lived in the NE, I can attest to the fact that the Hair Clinic's prices are more than reasonable, I feel like I'm getting away with robbery each time I leave feeling like a million bucks! When the shop first opened it was great, but since it's opening there has been TWO price increases. This is horrible if a salon wants to keep its loyal customers. Loyalty not only comes from the customer, but the salon as well. The stylists are good, but def. not the best that's out there. I think they are taking advantage of people because they are one of the few Black salons in Austin, close to UT, and downtown. Poor college students. If one cannot sustain on loyalty to customers and has to get over to get ahead, SHAME. With the increase in clients lately, there has also been a slowness in service. I heard about The Hair Clinic from one of their clients. I was at the mall and this lovely lady who I purchased a dress from had the most beautiful hair style. Her hair look so amazing, I had to ask her where she goes for hair care. She told me about this lady name Shari, who does her hair at The Hair Clinic. She gave me her phone # and that day I called and received a consultation appointment. After my first hair appointment, there was no question that she would now be my new hair stylist. I have been living in Austin for 7 years. I have had a few friends including Ana do my hair. When I heard Ana was finally in a shop I knew that I had to go see what it was all about. I have seen her now twice in about 1 month. I am so glad that I FINALLY have found a place in Austin to get my hair done and do not have to find some where to go every time I need to get my hair done. The shop is always so clean and well kept. When I came to Austin in 2001 for college at UT, I was having the hardest time finding a good hair stylist. My sister in law was doing my hair in Dallas before moving here and she always had high standards and expectations and I was hoping to find someone with the same standards here. After trying numerous stylists, I found Shari thru her website she used to have and decided to give her a try. That was back in 2004 or 2005 I think???? (She was still in Beauty School that's how long she has done my hair) and I have been with her since. She knows my hair and always gives me pointers when I have questions about my hair. (My hair can be a pain sometimes because it is so thick) I must admit, I have cheated on her a couple of times because she is BOOKED up when I don't make my appointment in time, I go to Ms. Ana as my backup who also knows my hair as well. (She works there of course!!) The atmosphere is great, the stylists are very friendly and professional, and you will be in and out in a flash. I recently moved to Austin about one month ago, and had been having the hardest time finding a decent salon that did natural hair, natural straightening and braiding. After calling every place under the sun I could find online, checking out a couple of places for a week or two, I finally was recommended to this salon, the Hair Clinic, just a few blocks from my own home. And I have been completely satisfied so far! Mrs. Rita is a very friendly and knowledgeable stylist, that even helps me with my psoriasis concerns. The prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is very relaxed but professional, with a Southern feel that I appreciate being originally from Georgia. I'd highly recommend this salon to anyone, whatever your ethnicity. You won't be disappointed. I used to not ever get my hair done until I met Shari! She had been doing numerous members of my sorority for years, and then I finally decided to try her out! The way my hair looks after I leave Shari's chair is unreal! Aside from the shop's owner being humble and sweet, the other stylists are very knowledgeable and friendly too! Annie explained how she was going to cut my hair and what it would look like when she was done and it looked exactly like that. The back of my head was very uneven due to me wearing a ponytail for a long time and she evened up the back and gave me body and life back to my hair. She was very gentle and very professional. I just moved to Austin from California and was worried about finding a good stylist. I had the one in California for over 10 years and it took me years to find her. This salon offers a variety of hair care and each stylist here has there on style and specialties. Shari has been doing my sew in's for over two years now and she is great at what she does. Now that I have cut my hair really short, Annie now styles and maintains my hair. Annie is very creative and not afraid to step outside of her boundaries. Not to mention she gives great consultation to guide you along with your hair decisions. Overall the salon is the perfect fit for any girls needs.
