Yes !! If you like peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. 7/14/2010

My wife and I went there yesterday for a mid week getaway. Check in was quick and friendly and we were headed to our room in under 10 minutes along with a map and general briefing on the resort. The room was one of several in each of the lodges. In keeping with the green and simple theme, they are very neat and tidy without a lot of excess space or unneeded furnishings. Folks who need constant entertainment or non-stop tv might have an adjustment period here. This place is perfect for de-stressing and simply being. We toured the resort and stopped and talked to several of the employees. As a service professional myself I can certify that this team understands customer service and we were met with genuine smiles and offers to help. We opted out of any group classes or activities as we had only one day to unwind. The hiking trails were a bit challenging and proper footwear is required if you plan to enjoy the beautiful and mostly shaded 2+ mile loop around the canyon. Although dinner looked great we had already made plans off site but made it back in time for a leisurely sunset by the awesome pool. The jacuzzi and sauna were well-maintained and inviting. For a few hours we felt as if we were thousands of miles away. Breakfast on the scenic terrace at the treehouse cafe exceeded our expectations and left us stuffed. The checkout process was simple with no surprises. Now that we have an understanding of what makes The Crossings unique among other Austin hideaways - we will certainly be back and will be telling our friends! We loved it. Pros: Close to Lake Travis, Green, Quiet, GREAT SERVICE more

I've found the best place to go! 6/18/2010

Just returned from spending the day at The Crossings. The spa is so calming, and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. When I called to make my reservation, Sean spent about 15 minutes going over the different body treatments and massages. REALLY helpful, as I was scheduling for my Mom as well. I loved the Juniper body polish and massage. Mom ended up getting a facial, which she said was the best yet. When I mentioned that it was her birthday, the spa director gave her a flower and birthday card. It made her day. The food was pretty good. We both had a glass of wine, and enjoyed the best view of any Austin spa. Unlike some previous posts, we didn't have a problem with being charged for our wine. I get the impression that the spa is not in charge of the bar, or the food service Pros: Relaxing and Fun Cons: None more

I give up! 6/12/2010

I tried on 2 ocassions to book spa services for my daughter and myself. I kept getting a voice mail, left a message, and no one called me back. So I called the next day- same thing- no one answered! When someone finally called me back five hours later, the time slots I wanted were filled. She said they have to call and ask if a massage therapist can come in. Its like they arent fully staffed. I gave up and decided to go elsewhere- this kind of "service" is ridiculous. Pros: Location Cons: Horrible service more

Rip off at spa, credit card charged inappropriately! 6/10/2010

I used to go to The Crossings quite often, but haven't been in 2 years or so. The place is under new management/ownership now. So, I purchased a Groupon and went for a massage and day at the pool. Well, my massage was cut about 10 minutes short. (The time I had was very nice, but too short). I went for a 50 minute massage, plus a few minutes for the intake. What I got was 40 minutes TOTAL. The intake was verbal and she didn't even look at my chart to see what was going on with me. Also, my massage was just less than 40 minutes and she ran out for another client. The biggest problem was the drinks by the pool. I had a glass of wine and was told afterwords that I'd be charged. Fine, so I checked out and the front desk person told me I had a zero balance. So I figured the drink was included w/ the day pass from the Groupon or someone had made a mistake. Come to find out, they charged me over $10 for a small glass of wine (I mean small, 5 oz or so), AND they charged me after I checked out. This was all just explained to me by the Spa Manager who would not refund my money, just kept saying that he was sorry and he'll let his manager know so they can improve their staff training. Such a collosal disappointment, with a questionable bit of deceit thrown in = bad spa environment and even worse business! I will not ever be back and will make sure people know about the treatment I've received before they consider visiting The Crossings! Pros: Beautiful view Cons: Many more

A massage to remember! 5/14/2010

I have been very fortunate to enjoy many massages in beautiful places around the world. This massage was definitely one of my favorite! My massage therapist was Judy. She made all the difference by listening to my needs and not just going through the motions. My lower back pain has also been relieved - thanks to her! Judy was very friendly, warm and very attentive. She really knows how to give a truly wonderful massage. I learned that Judy also does the very specialized Watsu massage which I plan to try very soon too! Pros: Unique, caring, peaceful Cons: Wish I could have one every week! more

The Crossings - Top Notch 1/2/2009

I have been to several spas in the Central Texas area and The Crossings has always been my favorite. There are some things that are imperfect about the place, like no paved sidewalks for example, but I have done some research myself after reading the other posts and decided to share what I found to be the truth. The last time I was there, I asked if the pool was saltwater or chlorine and they told me it did have chlorine. But I was also told by a manager that the pool has standards as far as chlorine levels go and they use the very minimum. I have noticed in other pools, you smell the chlorine even if you dont get in but I have never been bothered by that at The Crossings. I also think that people hear "eco friendly" and expect something totally different but I love the natural settings and green building principles, rainwater collection systems and mostly organic meals they serve. I also compared the prices and yes their prices are higher than what you would pay if you just went to a massage therapist in their home or studio but way cheaper than other top spas in the area. But while other places charge facility fees on top of the massage cost, just to have access (whether you use it or not) to their pool, jacuzzi, etc, The Crossings lets you use their nature trails, pool/jacuzzi (by the way the pool has an infinit edge and overlooks Lake Travis!), meditation sanctuary, AND even their actvity classes like yoga and fitness! Other places won't even let guests PAY for access to these because they want you to spend the night (which costs a fortune). They have way more facilities than anyone else in the area. They are locally owned and operated and I recently found out that they have the greenest ranking of any other resort/spa property in Texas. Hands down, the best place around to get great quality service in a natural setting where the staff is authentic and attentive - definitely be back soon! See you there! Pros: Close to Austin, yet feels far away, nature conscious, great value Cons: No Mani/Pedi more

Don't Bother... 8/25/2008

Over hyped, over priced and WAY under delivers. It is truly a shame when someone takes such a beautiful location and turns it into a racket. Trust me, you'll have a better experience staying at a Marriott and buying a spa package from a real spa. The other reviewers point out an experience similar to ours. Rates = way to high for what you get. Food = The 3 meals we received were not even as good as most high school cafeterias. Bland, no true vegetarian or otherwise modern healthy food. Facility = only "state of the art" if you are talking about 1980's facilities. Small, bland architecture and not at all in harmony with the environment. Overall, things were in minor disrepair anywhere you looked. Trails/paths were not well maintained and a bit dangerous to walk on, especially in the dark. Staff was marginally friendly and helpful but were not doing a very good job. Example: Dishes from dinner were still on tables while breakfast was being served and the woman attending the pool actually started trying to run guests off hours before the pool closing time. Oh, and I think everything is for sale... art, books, tapes. I could go on and on... bottom line, absolutely wonderful location in the hills and bordering the nature preserve... but spend your hard earned money somewhere else. Pros: Location Cons: Virtually everything else more

Seeker BEWARE 8/5/2008

I recently was excited over a program being offered and advertised by The Crossings as follows: Program Fee: $350.00. When I went to the Register site, the statement said Package Fee includes lodging, amenities, etc. First heads-up: the Package Fee and Program Fee are not related. As a public speaker, author, trainer and consultant I'm pretty savvy about different fee structures, and an advertised fee IMPLIES there is SOME mechanism for actually receiving the service for the stated price. Not so here! When I called to determine the fee to JUST ATTEND THE WORKSHOP I was informed there is no way to attend for the advertised fee of $350. To attend the workshop there is an ADDED fee called - get this - a COMMUTER FEE of $110 whether or not you plan to avail yourself of the hot-tub, trails, sauna, etc. Turns out there is NO WAY to attend under any circumstance for the advertised Program Fee of $350. The REAL price for this $350 Program is $460. Feels like a come-on and wreaks of misrepresentation and untruthful advertising. For a business whose bread-and-butter is programs about spiritual awakening, authenticity and peace - I expect more honesty. Seeker beware! My attempts to e-mail any of the individuals listed for management or marketing on multiple websites resulted in returned mail on all counts. Also, not a good sign when there's no one to handle feedback. more

most dissapointing 6/29/2008

I have been hearing about this place for over a year. I decided to visit. Much to my suprise, they were not as Eco Friendly as they claim. One of my concerns was swimming in Chlorine or Bromine.. since The Crossing advertised about being ECO Friendly and endorsing LOHAS, (Lifestyles of Health & Sustainability), I felt confident they would use a Healthy alternative in their swimming pool. NOT!!! PURE Chlorine!! the hot tub too-plus colder water for a Hot tub. The service was strange and that is putting it nicely. Not friendly in their lifestore, when I approached someone at the front desk they appeared Bothered, the worst part was the Massage by a grossly overweight individual that was unable to provide a decent massage due to lack of energy. I was so dissapointed, Big waste of time, money! Cons: Poorly skilled therapists, Bad service, Chlorine in POOL, Overpriced!!! more
