pretty good. I can't handle much heat at all when it comes to Mexican food, and I could handle the queso (with a bite of sour cream as well)! more

Better than the reviews we read 7/5/2010

Read bad reviews, decided to take a gamble anyways during a busy July 4th weekend. We followed 20 people in and were still seated in five minutes. Margaritas were on the expensive side, but real, not pre-mixed. We were surprised to find real pinto beans and good Spanish rice that wasn't dry. Between the fajitas, chimichangas, and steak tacos, we all left very full and pleased with the taste. Would absolutely go again. Pros: seated and served right away Cons: Seating is tight more

Amazing Margaritas 9/6/2009

Don't let the neon sign fool you; this place had really good ambiance & amazing margaritas. The bartenders have worked at this bar/restaurant for over two decades and they know so much about Tequilas. My friend came into the bar and meet so many Chicagoans inside that vouched for the place that we stayed and had the best margaritas ever. We met a manger at a different restaurant who was there just for the drinks. Needless to say that we found our new spot in Chicago and even made new friends. In my opinion, the prices were average because things cost a bit more in Los Angeles, California. I strongly recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Fresh ingredients & 4 shots per margarita more

Plastic anyone? 11/15/2008

I recently moved to Chicago. My husband and I were wandering around and thought mexican would be great tonight. We saw Su Casa's and decided to give it a try. Everything started off great but half a burrito in and I noticed I was chewing on a big chunk of plastic. Now I work in a restaurant and understand these things happen they shouldn't but they do. The manager was apologetic comped the food and remade it as a carry out for me to take home. Got home and decided to give it another try, cut into my burrito hmmmm.... it's beef. I'm a vegetarian. You would think after serving me plastic the first time they would make sure my food was right the second time around. Bummed out there is PLENTY of Mexican restaurants around. Guys I would give this one a miss. Pros: Managment seemed nice Cons: Apparently the staff as they think serving plastic is ok more

Not bad! 10/27/2008

We stayed next door at the James and stopped in for a quick early dinner. We were seated quickly and our food was fast and hot. I really enjoyed the tamales - they're served San Antonio style with chili on the side. The lunch specials were priced much better than the dinner entrees so next time we will probably go for lunch instead. There was a bit of a wait for the check once we were finished with our meal - we made it clear we were in a hurry as we had a plane to catch, so that was a minor annoyance, but overall the experience was good. more

worst service I've ever had 8/6/2008

You might think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. It was the worst service ever. It was a Wednesday night, and it was not that busy, so we got seated relatively fast. Took about 15 min to get drinks. almost an hour for food. We were so upset because we had to scarf down our food in literally 5 minutes to make our concert. The food was average at best. Go elsewhere. Cons: So slow! Food was blah. Guacamole was awful. more

Avoid at all costs -- HORRIBLE!!!! 6/26/2008

This restaurant was such a disappointment. I love Mexican food so I was excited when I saw it. It obviously caters to tourists who will not be back as nobody would ever go back on purpose. The service was terrible like when we were asked how the food was I responded ""Meh..."" and the waiter said ""Good"" and poured me more water... the food was watery and tasteless enough -- I did not need *more* water!! We also did not get chips and salsa until we asked for them. I do not think they were planning to give us any. We needed the salsa to pour over our food though because it was so bland and disgusting that we needed the salsa to cover up the taste. I also had a margarita and it was sooo strong and salty that I could barely drink it. Every sip was like taking a shot of tequila. I support strong drinks as much as the next person, but this was really gross. I WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! I highly recommend that you do not waste your time & money going to this horrible place. Pros: The Corona was good... cuz it was not made there. Cons: Bad food, bad service, and expensive. Taco Bell is waaay classier and tastier than this place! more

Great Margaritas! Good Customer service. 8/17/2006

I went there on a Sunday afternoon thinking I was just going to stop for a Margarita! I stopped for three and some appetizers. The Margaritas although small, were freshly made and strong. The waitress was very friendly and the appetizers were big. I belive you get your ""b*ng for the buck"". You might find better food, but that comes with extra cost as well. I would definitely go back for the margartias! Pros: Has an outdoor seating area! Great Margaritas! Cons: seating area small outside. more

Best Margarita! 3/24/2006

Wow, I would have never gone to this place if I had read all other bad reviews for this place.. But I stumbled into Su Casa without anybody's influence (bad reviews..), and I really like this place. I agree with some reviews on the average/chaotic service, but if you want really good margarita, you must try this place! Well, I still keep going back to this place for more Magarita! Pros: Margarita!, interior more

Boo. 4/15/2005

You can do WAY better. Stay away. Seriously, don't be enticed by the sign and your craving for chips and salsa. You'll be disappointed, just like you are with your marraige. Pros: Lets see...none Cons: bland food, crappy atmosphere, slow service more

You call this Mexican food? 4/5/2004

I agree with the other posters....the food and service are awful! I gave it a second chance (silly me) and will never go back. Pros: Location Cons: , No chip refills, Unfriendly staff more

REALLY REALLY AWFUL 3/22/2004

I don't understand how this place is still in business. Overall, it's awful food, service, drinks ... everything. NEVER AGAIN! Strongly advise against this place. more

Pretty average mexican restaurant 2/13/2004

We went to Su Casa for lunch and I'll probably never go back. Service was horrible, I don't think I got one smile from the waitress the whole time we were there. It took forever for her to take our order and it wasn't even crowded. Food was average, portions were pretty small, although we did order off the lunch menu. It was like pulling teeth to get another round of chips and salsa and it wasn't even that good. Save your time and money and go to some other great downtown restaurant. Pros: Cute place Cons: , Average food, Small lunch portions more
