Absolute Soul Rejuvenation 8/18/2011

From the very first time I walked into Spa Universaire, I felt more pampered, cared for, appreciated and welcomed than any other similar facility I've ever been in, anywhere. Their spa is exquisite, and their customer service is BAR NONE. If I could give it ten stars, I would. Betty is unprecedented as a manager and Andie is far and away one of the most caring, compassionate, educated, talented massage therapists I've had the good fortune to find. Every sense is engaged in relaxing, pleasant stimulation; from the sound of water gently falling, the dimmed lights to ease strain and help one relax, the subtle scents that linger just on the edge of the air and seem to draw out every tether the day has bound one up in, the calming music that is lambent on the edge of the shadows from which soft candlelight glows... to the soothing warmth of a mug of hot tea in a quiet room in which to find repose with book lined walls and soft light. The absolute indulgence doesn't end there; it continues with privacy geared and very comfortable changing rooms with thick snuggly robes, cushioned seats, private steam room, private bathroom and assorted amenities, the big steam room with swedish shower and more amenities to soak away every stress and care, the option of several thoughtfully designed rooms in which to receive a very caring and thorough massage that soothes away every ache, worry, stress, pain, and thought. Featured rooms include Rocky Mountain, Carribean Beach, Oriental, Egyptian and several others. What every single aspect of this place does for my senses, soul, heart and mind from the moment I walk in until the time I leave is nothing short of spiritual refreshment, regrouping, recentering, cleansing, strengthening, relaxing, calming, refocusing, realigning, and is such a monumental lift for me that I have yet to find anything other than the shore of an ocean to match it. It is one of the most incredible hidden gems in Denver, and what puts the cherry on top is that it's AFFORDABLE and worth every single penny. Do Not Miss It. more

Betty Is The Spa's Success 7/30/2011

I slept wrong and had a kink in my neck. Betty, at Spa Universaire, was lovely and scheduled me an appointment that same day (I called at 9:00 and my appt was at 12:15). Betty truly emulates the customer service that all spas should have. She was very attentive and made me feel comfortable as soon as I arrived. Betty fulfills multiple roles at the spa (repair woman, receptionist, attendant, etc.). Betty is the best review for this spa! The facilities are extremely small and they are very limited in space. The space could use a better design. more

Wonderful, just wonderful 7/23/2011

Best spa downtown. Not necessarily the most expensive or fancy but the charm and massage therapists make up for it ten fold. Everyone was so naturally warm but the massage therapist I would highlight is Matthew, this guy is of a special breed I have not experienced in years and I going close to 20 years of being a massage veteran ! Don't Walk, Run to this spa! more

A Timeless Journey 7/10/2011

The first time I stepped into Spa Universaire I experienced feelings of comfort and relaxation. The attention to every detail by each member of the Spa’s team made it a truly client-centered experience. The timeless journey I experienced at Spa Universaire was unique and beautifully mastered. If you would like to take a step away from the choas of Denver and step into a world of relaxation I highly reccomend Spa Universaire. more

Front desk can't get their crap together! 7/1/2011

I've been to Spa Universaire three times now (my husband got me gift certificates for Valentine's Day) and while the massages have all been great, the front desk seems to f*** it up every time. Last time I called to book an appointment and requested the massage therapist I had the first time. I thought I was all set and looking forward to the massage. When I walked in they started hurrying me through. When the therapist came out to greet me, it wasn't the guy that I requested. Going with the flow I went to the room and she started but made a comment that she would have to hurry. Finally, I said "I'm sorry but is there something wrong? My appt was at 1:30 and was suppose to be with XXX (I don't remember his name now) and I got here on time." She went out and checked with the front desk and the receptionist who booked my appt took it down wrong. At the very least I got an apology for the mix up. Today, I booked at the last minute and was happy with whoever could get me in. The massage was great and I was completely relaxed. However, when I came out and gave the receptionist my gift certificate the computer wouldn't accept the number. She looked it up in the log to find that it hadn't been used but called the mgr on duty to ask her what to do. "Betty said she'll be right down," the girl told me. As I'm sitting there, I watched another patron go through the same fiasco checking out with a gift certificate. No kidding, 30 minutes later the receptionist calls Betty again who this time tells her to just accept the gift certificate and they can figure out the computer later. Are you kidding me? So much for leaving relaxed. The worst part was the receptionist didn't even acknowledge the wait or headache. Ugh! Don't waste your time or money. more

I was so lucky! 8/3/2010

I was so lucky…just hanging outside by the Jacuzzi when the spa reservationist came to look for someone who had scheduled an appointment. I said “no – not me….I wish” - to which she replied, “we have a massage therapist available if you would like to have a massage. “Sure”, I said as I followed her inside to the reception. Wow! How lucky was that! Then my luck continued as the massage therapist I received was Drea. First, she cleaned my feet, very nice…it was then that I asked if I could change my ½ massage to an hour. Once I felt her touch I knew she would be good. I had been in Denver a week working a conference and really needed a massage. I live in Northern CA and have massages quite frequently – I was amazed that I was having this incredible massage in Denver at a hotel. You should only be so lucky as to have a massage with Drea – she is gifted and has the healing touch! Be kind to yourself and schedule one now. more

Life saving facial 6/15/2010

a dear friend purchased a gift certificate for me to come to Spa Unjiversaire and receive a facial. I am in my late 60s and have never had a facial. I was greeted by Miss Betty who gave me a "around the world tour". She was enthusiastic and informative. Surely, she took pride in her work. The facial is my focus. I saw Oxana. After my initial consultation, she advised me to see a doctor about a spot on my nose. I took her seriously and the next time I had a check up I mentioned it. They did a biopsy and discovered it was cancerous. A slow growing cancer, but cancer. If I had not received the gift certificate, not seen Oxana, the cancer would have gone undiagnosed until it had spread thorughout my face. Thank-you Spa Universaire and Oxana for your expertise. This is not just a place to go and relax, the staff here is caring, consciensous, and well educated. For a treatment - go anywhere... For an experience - go to Spa Universaie. more

All around exceptional experience 6/5/2010

Okay, so I'm new to Denver which means finding all the essential spots is a trail and error procedure. Most of the staples are discovered rather painlessly, so you try a few bad lattes until you discover your favorite joint, or you're forced to suffer they agony of an inept yoga teacher until you stumble upon the studio that resonates. But as more and more places become solidified into your comfort zone, the undecided places, the acupuncturist, the tailor and yes, the masseuse. Determining these place can take years. But I'm delighted to say I've found the most overwhelmingly relaxing spa in the city. Look no further than Spa Universaire and if you're lucky, Jen. She is an unbelievably intuitive therapist, with amazing feel for the patient's needs. As far as the overall spa, incredibly professional, yet equally inviting and relaxing. As for the often mentioned, theme rooms. Initially, I had my reservations, they sort of stunned me whimsy. But as I got comfortable with the five senses immersion, I soon embraced the mountain room or the aztec indian room. I was ushered to the east indian room where Jen gave me the option of aromatherapy. It was empowering in a subtle sort of way to be given a choice in the matter. In fact, I believe the entire staff aim to slow you down, avoiding feeling rushed, to truly promote a relaxing experience. Often the expectation is to use the massage as the vehicle into a relaxing state, but at Spa Universaire, they instantly aim to ground you and slow you down. I'll go back again and again. Pros: staff, massage Cons: none that really matter more

Terrible! 4/1/2010

I went to Spa Universaire b/c a friend got me the Urbn Renewal package as a gift. It was such a treat and I was so excited. The package called for a facial and massage with an additional purchase of lunch paid by myself. It was disappointing from the start when they had me do the facial before lunch. This would mean the massage would come after lunch which is a massage basics no-no. Massages can disturb your digestion. The whole thing was counter-intuitive. Relax wiht a massage, eat, and clean your face up, right? Anyways, onto the rest. Ok, when they say 'themed' rooms (Eygptian room, mountain room, blah blah blah) all that means is that room has a wallpaper border in that theme. LOL. The rooms are also tiny, which didn't matter when I was stationary in a chair or on a table; but, when the person working on me had to maneuver aound the chair/table, it got uncomfortable. When I first arrived, I got naked and into a robe. Then I went to the 'waiting room', which is an awkward narrow space with benches and chairs reminiscent of my piano teacher's living room. Everyone just stared around knowing other naked-under-their-robe people are a foot away. During the facial I was told I had dry skin and needed a hydrating mask- I said no. I was also told I needed my brows done- I said no. The experience was ruined by up-sells. When it was time for lunch, my grand cuisine was a bunk-ass salad from Mad Greens and a dried dinner roll. I hid behind a screen eating in near darkness by the glow of a tea light. Employees went in and out of the laundry room which I was sitting next to. After lunch I got my massage which was very good, I must admit. Wish I could remember her name. On the way out the door they did try to push the Aveda products on me. I bought some sample sizes cause i'm a sucker like that. Even though it was free and had a good massage I would still declare this a bad experience overall. Pros: good massage Cons: everything else sucked more

Fantastic Massage - Teara is amazing 3/14/2010

Warm, welcoming environment with an extremely accommodating staff. Teara intuitively knows where I'm stressed and uses a wonderful combination of soft, medium, and deep touch to get every knot out. My husband and I mostly do couples massages, and he has had both Jen and Lucy with exceptional results. I would highly recommend this spa for both the spa virgin and the experienced spa goer. My husband had never had a massage before and now he is truly addicted. Pros: Exceptional massage more

Jen is the best! 12/18/2009

Jen Smallwood gave me one of the best massages of my life. My dog, Macaroni, and I are a bed bug inspection team and spend our days working in apartments, condos, hospitals, retirement communities, and homes. It's physical work and I get worn out. She asked me what I wanted for my massage and then delivered. Relaxing, quiet, and gentle ( I don't like deep tissue massages...they hurt) with special attention to my feet, legs and back. She immediately put me into a massage coma of delight. The atmosphere was wonderful and so peaceful. Jen was fantastic. I've had massages at some very fancy locations here in Denver, Hawaii, Bora Bora, and in Europe (Villa d'Este) and she gave the most wonderful massage of them all. When you want the very best Jen Smallwood at Spa Universaire is the only way to go. Pros: Listens, friendly, warm, great massage Cons: None more
