Silvervale Apartments

I have been here since the middle of 2011 and here are my thoughts. This place is Little Mexico in case that concerns you. There are many issues starting with the address itself. "Silvervale" is one GIANT complex semi-divided into two "communities". One is "Silvervale" itself, the other is "Brookstone". The way it is setup like this is ridiculous and allows me to share the same apartment # as someone else in the same complex in a different building, just on a different entrance. Technically they are two different addresses (8800 vs 8900) but there are NO SIGNS in the front which distinguish one "community" from the other with the 4 consecutive frontage-road open gate entrances that let you in to what looks like one big apartment complex. The pizza delivery driver has gotten completely lost before, friends can never find me on the first try and get lost within the labyrinth that this place is. I have baby roaches crawling around my kitchen. I've had two things I marked on my rental inspection since I moved in here that haven't been fixed and probably never will. There is a lady who digs through the dumpster daily. The dumpsters always have trash around them. My neighbor shaves copper wire and leaves the plastic sheaths all over the ground outside on a regular basis. People litter everywhere, including beer bottles. Theres a giant drain in the middle of one of the internal streets and water floods into the road every time it rains because it doesn't actually drain properly. There was one fire before I moved in that burned up a unit and it still hasn't been repaired. There was another fire a few weeks ago started by a toddler playing with a lighter that burned up a unit. The mail-room always has trash and boxes that are torn out. I have seen domestic violence and police here at-least once a month if not more. The maintenance man who fixed my screeching ancient a/c unit doesn't speak English. I received a card on my door from the Child Protective Services investigator inadvertantly who meant it for the OTHER unit with the same # as mine. Car alarms go off nightly from the same people. People are always working on their cars, getting motor oil everywhere and many love to rev their engines and honk hoooooonk, whistle and be generally noisy. Nothing is really great here aside from the price and it's not quite as bad as other parts of East Austin. Proximity to the highway and stores are a general plus, but the area has a fair amount prostitutes and homeless beggars off the Rundberg and I-35 area. more

if i could give this place 0 stars, i would. listen to me and jason above me. you notice how there are only 2 reviews listed here? that's because everyone here is mexican. i have never been racist before, but this place is starting to make me hate people. from setting fires in the garbage outside from their food and laughing about it to dumping their trash everywhere to riding their cars and trucks up on the lawn because they are too lazy to get out and walk to their front doors..you get the idea. there was even a huge fire in the apartments that affected more than 30 people because some idiot decided to use his bbq right against the side of the apartments, which is always done around here. even if u call and complain, the operator, who inevitably has a crappy attitude, lazily says "ohh yaa we'll send someone out." then no one comes out. UNTIL there is a fire and news teams are on it and fire trucks and police come! dont get me STARTED on the leasing office. in the space of only about 5 or 6 months, i had pest control make me wait at home for 9 HOURS each day when they missed 10 APPOINTMENTS. i finally got someone's attention when i CALLED WORLDWIDE PEST CONTROL MYSELF. but then they made me wait AGAIN and didnt come out when they said they would THAT DAY!! the next day when i called, the person said she had done everything she could and it was not her fault no one was coming out. when i finally filled out a BBB claim online and FINALLY got a manager to call me back, i started getting {lackluster} service. i still have roaches. roaches that were here when i moved in, mind you. the fat maintenance man's attitude is pure sh*t. i have asked that he not come back to my place. i talked to the manager of these apartments and then to HER manager and to the MAINTENANCE MAN'S manager, brought notes, everything. they said they would not send him back to my place. low and behold, he is the one who showed up the next 4 times!! he did something that made my bf so angry, he almost throttled the guy. also have had to get the garbage disposal fixed 4x and the stove 5 times..and today..guess what? it caught on fire! ive been waiting an hour for the "emergency service" guy to get here. no phone calls, nothing. the walls werent painted completely when i moved in, there was black mildew all over the bathroom, i had 10 things go wrong my first month. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS PPL READING THIS~ DONT MOVE HERE. i was trying to save some money by being here, and im really regretting it. if you have a JOB, you wont be able to stay on top of these people enough to get them to do their jobs! i was asked to even work for them and i said nooo wayyyy. im not going to sit there in the office and be the only one who works! i had an appointment to view a bigger apt here the other day and the lady made me go back to get my driver's license from my apartment. she couldnt tell me to bring it when we were on the phone making the appointment?? and she knows me! i have been living here, complaining from day one about the "service" im receiving! when i got back with my license, she made me wait for 40 mins while she helped other people and didnt even tell me she was sorry or how long it would take~ didnt say ANYTHING when i came in and sat down. they need to fire everyone here and start OVER. there have also been several arsons and rapes here. so dont dont dont move here. please. please. please. please. please. more

This apartment complex is really bad the management is just a waste of office space and time. If you're not persistent nothing in your apartment will be fixed and when maintenance does stop by if your not home they don't leave anything stating that they were there. The parking is terrible unless you have a parking permit and since most people that live there are not on the lease visitor parking is always full. I would not recommend this apartment to anybody unless its an emergency and even then its not worth it. 95% of the residents speak no english and thats probably why management is so relaxed I doubt most of the residents complain about the poor conditions. In other words if you have any sense and can actually live somewhere else do it. Maybe the experience wouldn't be so bad if management wasn't so bad nobody seems to get anything done in a timely manner no matter who you talk to in the office. DONT DO IT more
