great place 12/9/2008

Without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. Great service and very consistent food. The menu has changed on occassion with more hits than misses. Bizarre venue on he outside, but once inside is very warm upstiars. Bar was very busy on a friday night, but we found a nice quiet corner after diiner. Excellent seafood special with hawaiian fish. Wine kind of pricey, but overall worth the price. I' will go back. Pros: great food , service Cons: off the beaten path but worth it more

Great for seafood, not for steak 9/16/2008

The service is wonderful, my sister and I love the atmosphere during lunch and have for a long time. The BLT salad is wonderful! My sister had the Burger and said it was dry in the middle. Me being a Texas girl, tried the Steak with the garlic potatoes. Everything on the plate was delish, however the steak was tough. I ordered it med-rare like my husband likes, and it still had some gristle around the edges. For fish I will eat at Silo, for Steak I will go back to Kirby?s across the street and might even try Paesanos. more

Fine Dining in San Antonio = Silo's 7/21/2008

We went to Silo's for our anniversary and loved it. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was A+. From presentation, to service, to ambiance. This is a great cross between fine dining and cool lounging. The restaurant is lit just right for a romantic evening and the lounge is perfect for that after dinner drink and to relax. The wait staff was extremely courteous and professional. The menu was great and the surf and turf was just perfect. The lunch prices are significantly cheaper than the dinner prices but either is worth every penny!! Dinner for my wife and I with appetizers, two entrees, dessert, and one drink each was about $160. Thanks for a memorable night of fun, relaxation, and fine dining. Pros: To many to list... more

If it's not Broken, don't fix it. 6/30/2008

Have been a customer for 2 years and visit 1604 for lunch at least 4 time per month. What happened to the NY steak? Last few have not been the same. Soup, Salad and 1/2 club is wonderful. My firm partners enjoy a quick and quality lunch and often dine with our wifes on the weekend. Will still enjoy a light lunch, but prefer the NY Steak at Kirby's. Service is the best in town. Worst service ever 5/18/2008

Personally I will never go back to this restaurant, the food was ok, the service was horrible right from the get go w/ the hostess being plain rude. My word of advice, if the hostess hates her job that much, just quit!!!!!!!!! I will never go there again, I should have known from the beginning when I called to setup a reservation I received the worst customer service ever. I receive better treat at MCdonalds! Stay away from it. Avoid it at all costs. Pros: good location Cons: worst service ever more

Wonderfull!!! 4/30/2008

My husband and I went there on a Friday night as a ""date night"" and had a wonderfull time! We dined at the 1604 location and it was just lovely. we have been to the other location on Austin highway many times and have always enjoyed it. Our server, Karen, was very attentive, very sweet, and knowledgable about the food and wine. The food presentation was unbelievable and tasted just as great as it looked. It can be a little nosiey on the weekends, but well worth it! I would definetly reccomend this place to all my friends! Pros: Service, Food, Wine Cons: Noise more

Snooty Staff 2/19/2008

I don't know if the food is good or not. We were kept waiting in the bar for so long, we gave up and left before being seated. We went in the middle of the week without reservations but were told we would be seated shortly...it never happened. I would be willing to try again with reservations if the staff had been friendlier, but that won't happen now. The only thing we found to be elevated about Silo's were the staff's noses. more

Great Food, Snobby Atmosphere 9/27/2007

I lived and worked in New York for four years and I would have to say, the food at Silo compares with some of the better restaurants I dined in while there. My only complaint is that along with the great food came the snobbish atmosphere found at some eateries up north. I'd like to leave the NYC snobbery where I left it, in NY. If you are looking for a relaxed San Antonio dining experience, you may be disappointed when you are met with a SOHO attitude. I would honestly put up with it again to have the food. The steaks were fantastic, the wine list is extensive, and my salmon was out of this world. Pros: delicious food Cons: snobby patrons more

Great Food! 8/27/2007

The food is always amazing. Service is good. Great place for a nice lunch too and less expensive at lunch time as well. Smaller dining area, so it can fill up quick. I recommend reservations. Pros: Food is unique and delicious. Cons: A little pricey. more

Best Cuisine in town! 8/4/2007

Brilliant! The Austin Hwy location has a great industrial feel to it, with some of the best artwork hanging all about the lower level of the building. When you head up in the elevator, you really don't know what to expect. When the doors open, it is amazing! The courteous staff are wonderful and every table is a great seat. The place even smells absolutely amazing. The food is melt in your mouth out of this world! They have quite a wide variety of tastey treats including a mouth watering chocolate souffle! Just remember to order that upon arrival as it takes a while to make.\r They also have a Northside location (1604 & Blanco) that is even more lovely (if you can believe that)! All in all Silo is where it's at! If you want to have a romantic night out, its perfect! If you want to impress relatives, business associates...etc. Silo is where you want to take them.\r Pros: everything! Cons: not a one more

Doesn't live up to pretentious atmosphere 6/18/2007

Eating at this restaurant definitely put a damper on a very important night. We reserved a table for a large party. Half th party arrived early and half arrived a few minutes late. The hostess claimed there was no record of our reservation and made us wait for over 20 minutes while the rest of the party was upstairs AT THE TABLE. To make matters worse she gave us rude looks and acted like we did not have reservations. The manager did NOTHING to rectify this situation. The restaurant was quite noisy which made it difficult to have normal conversations. To add insult to injury, one dinner plate was dropped on the floor. I did not receive any food until the rest of the party had already completed the meal. While the food was very delicious, the staff certainly has a long way to go. Pros: Good to see and be seen. Cons: Horrible service more

Excellent Menu, Updated Frequently 2/27/2007

Outstanding food, wine and cocktails. Friendly and knowledgable staff that provides very attentive and quality service. In addition to their evening meals try their Sunday Brunch their menu has a large variety. Recommend reservations especially on Friday's. Pros: Quality and Service Cons: Limited Beef Menu, but they have an Excellent selection othrewise! more

It was ok...we've had better 1/14/2007

We went to Silo for the first time this Friday, and I have to say that I wasn't too impressed. The atmosphere was nice, but the food wasn't what we expected. However, we did love the wine! Pros: Great for drinks Cons: You can't carry on a conversation on Friday night w/o having to strain to hear or be heard more

The bset 12/10/2004

Silo elevated cuisine is the best resturant I've ever seen and ever had the pleasure of eating at. The waitors are amazing so kind and easy to talk to. The lights are set low at night for a romatic mood. It's a great resturant you should go. Pros: good waitors, great entertainment, delicious food more

Silo was great 5/11/2004

This was a great place. Linen table cloths, great wine selection. The food is fabulous, reasonable pricing for such wonderful food. We had several appetizers and they were all delicous. The entrees were very tasty. Go!, you'll love it. more

The Silo 5/1/2003

I just moved from Las Vegas where I was spoiled with fine dinning and then I found The Silo. Its now the only restaurant in town I eat at! Ask for William or Sara and what ever the special of the evening is that is what you have! I've never been disappointed. I dine at The Silo weekly! If your out to impress or just enjoy - here's the PLACE!!!!! Wayne Barron Pros: Phenomenal, Fantastic, Delectable Cons: Parking more

Cool Jazz, Great food 6/7/2002

I recently went to Silo on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised to find a full bar downstairs in what was formerly a grocery store. We were greeted at the bar by Niles(formerly of Niles wine bar) and had a killer Martini. There was a jazz trio playing in the corner, it gave the place a great ambiance. We went upstairs and had a wonderful well paced meal. We will be back. Pros: Bar, great food, pretty hostess more

  • In Short
Dinner at Silo is like dining at a hip Manhattan restaurant. On the ground floor is an active martini bar ; an elevator must be taken up an old silo to get to the dining room....
