Best

This is the ONLY place i will take my shoes for any and all repairs . Extraordinary knowledge and workmanship. Every pair of shoes I have taken in (about 100 pairs) has been...

Worst

Poor attitude on the telephone, refused to give information on pricing other stores were willing to give. Quite rude--will go somewhere else for any work on shoes.

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/31/2013

Is there a ZERO???!!! Nobody deserves this kind of service, or abuse. The worst experience EVER!!! I appreciate ""small business"" and the right to do what you want, but these people are crazy. I don't care how good, or convenient they may be...DON'T DO IT!!! Go somewhere else and get the correct information upfront. Unacceptable racist, judgmental and bigoted behavior. George Zimmerman has NOTHING on Barry Croft and his wife...don't support this foolishness. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 5/3/2013

Best of what? Fake snobbery and condescension? The owner was a total joke, and his lackey female worker knew almost less than my kindergartener about leather! I did get quite a kick out of their practiced, fake snobbery and attitudes though - it was like watching trailer trash try to go down the red carpet in cutoff shorts! Made my day after I got over the initial ""WTF?"" of them thelling me they only deal with 'high-end shoes' when I brought in 7 pairs of Monolo, Coach, Ferragamo & Joan and Davids! I realized quickly that they just say things to try to make you feel inadequate and them feel like they are better than you! If you need a good laugh one day, stop by with your nice shoes!! Then promptly leave the store WITH your shoes and take them to a REAL repair shop!!! more

Worse place ever!!! 5/4/2012

I would not even give them a star. What a bunch of rude, ignorant people. My podiatrist suggested this place to repair the heels on some Dansko shoes. When I got to the store the answer I received is that they do not repair low end stuff, exactly word per word as he said it. I also had a purse that needed repair on the strap and again, same answer because he could not find a brand. He couldn't find a brand because the purse is foreign. It wasn't until I specified that both of the purses were over $500 each that he even took the time to check the purses and said that there was nothing to be done. I took them to another shoe repair shop in the Rice neighborhood and they had no problem taking them and repairing them. Don't waste time to even walk into this establishment. more

Only Thing Missing Is Rod Serling 3/22/2012

If I didnt know better when we walked into this place it felt like going on set to film an episode of the tv show The Twilight Zone. What a trip - the place no doubt is owned operated by a couple shouting & screaming like wild boars - the quote on repairs was multiples of the true cost at other places and the guy running this place proud to declare that he does not need anybodys business. Cannot say that we have ever entered a public establishment and seen anything quite like this place - it is to say the least - a weird shop. more

Best of Citysearch??? Seriously?!?!?! 1/16/2012

To say that, ""The owner and women were a little curt"" as was expressed by a previous reviewer of this business is quiet a compliment. These folks are rude, unprofessional and downright nasty! When my wife expressed concerns regarding the quality of the work performed by the owner, he immediately responded by saying, ""You just don't want to pay for it! I'm done talking to you!"" He further went on to say, ""Just pay and leave...or just leave."" If this establishment won the ""Best of Citysearch"" award, this award has no credibility or merit. Go to this place at your own risk... more

Great work, but some annoyances 7/2/2011

The shoes that Shoe Savers worked on look great and were handled well. I brought in a pair of Chanel and a pair of Louboutins, and they both turned out great. I definitely think that the craftsmanship is there. The owner and woman were a little curt, but nothing so bad as to turn me completely off. I did find it annoying, however, that they only take cash or local checks (with two local phone numbers). The cost was also a little high, but I expected that to be the case. more

Need a class in customer relations 5/6/2011

I took a pair of Ferregamo sandals purchased in Milan around 12 years ago. I love these sandels and hoped Shoe Savers would help refurbish them. They (both the owners) were rude and insulting. They may be very good at what they do but they need to learn how to be polite and courteous. I WOULD NOT recommend using them. If my doctor treated me this way I'd FIRE him! more

The best shoe repair shop ever 1/1/2011

This is the ONLY place i will take my shoes for any and all repairs . Extraordinary knowledge and workmanship. Every pair of shoes I have taken in (about 100 pairs) has been expertly repaired and carefully handled. Some shoes could simply not be repaired but I was always told that up front and given other suggestions. Yes there may be other places that are less expensive, but those are the places that damaged, ruined or altered my beautiful shoes in the past (and Shoe Savers took the ruined shoes and revived them). Getting to know the owners has been a wonderful experience. And they will repair handbags too!! more

Worst Shoe Repair Shop 10/1/2010

ARROGANT AND VERY RUDE I have had two terrible experiences with the owner of this shop. First time, he threw my shoes down on the counter and told me they were ruined and he couldn't fix them. I recently tried again with different shoes...different problem. With his condescending attitude he told me not to bother because the shoes were in terrible condition...(they are very good Italian leather shoes and were salvaged by another shop) I tried to ask him another question after he dismissed me, but he actually turned away and ignored me. I have never been treated so badly by a merchant. He desperately needs an attitude adjustment...or close up shop.. more

Professional shoe repair by a craftsman 8/24/2010

I brought an older pair of Allen Edmonds in for resoling. The shoes were finished on time and the work was impeccable. The owner is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. Both the owner and his wife were very helpful in discussing what the repair entails, the price and the repair time. I would trust my most expensive shoes to Shoe Savers and I would definitely recommend their work to anyone with quality shoes that need some repair. more

Horrible Customer Service 2/2/2010

I was driving by and decided to stop in to see if they could fix 2 pairs of boots for me. Upon asking my question they immediately said they could not help me - I might as well get another pair of boots. They never told me the cost or anything - I asked well what would the cost be and the older man said $200.00 and no where else in Houston could do it cheaper. Their service is horrible and they are extremely rude. I was willing to get them done but not from these people! They were horrible! Cons: Very Very Rude more

Simply the best in Houston ! 11/14/2009

I brought what I thought - in my limited experience - would be a difficult need: changing the color of a newly purchased pair of golf shoes. Well, it was no trouble at all, and I was blown away by the perfect finish of my new shoes (and I'm kind of a perfectionist too). I've been disappointed with every place I've tried in Houston. Equally impressive was the commitment to my satisfaction that was shown me, a first-time customer. I have found the place in Houston for all of my shoe and leather needs ! Watch the slide shows at their website to see the perfect work they do.... Pros: True craftsmanship, Excellent customer service more

I was only calling to ask a simple question 12/13/2008

kay, I didn't go to this place to have my non-leather shoes repairs - needed the elastic repalced on the buckles. I called to get a pricing for it and I was told $35! The highest I had been quoted, other places were charging $15 or $20. I asked why it was so high and he the man told me they are a high end store and they do such high quality work on high end products - not in the those same words, but that's basically how it came across to me. I then told him my shoes were not not leather & he said he doesn't work on vinyl. I told him they were man made materials but I wasn't sure if they were vinyl, he said most are. So, I said okay you won't work on my shoes, alright, then I heard CLICK! more

Rude Rude Rude! 11/27/2008

I must agree with the first reviewer. They are RUDE. First thing in the door the young man told me what a ""butcher job"" someone had been doing on my husbands shoes outlining every fault. Then he tells me it's going to be almost $200 to fix this 6 year old pair of (albeit expensive) shoes. When I called my husband to tell him the cost - he said forget it. I'll just get a new pair. Cons: Rude, unprofessional more

The best leather repair shop in town. 9/8/2008

I do not find the owners to be terribly friendly, in fact, they are extremely rude. I think the son is trying to have somewhat of a customer-friendly attitude, but even that is an effort. After having said that, I am not going to Shoe Savers to make them my ""best friends"" or ""social buddies"". I am going there for their superb work and craftsmanship. I have never been disappointed with their work. They are truly the best and I do refer them to whomever asks where to have their leather goods repaired. If you can overlook the personalities, you will certainly be very satisfied with their work. Pros: Best work anywhere Cons: Attitudes more

Excellent shoe repair 6/12/2008

Over the years I have used several shoe repair places here in Houston and Dallas. All of my shoes are high quality, expensive, mens dress shoes. Without question this is the best repair job I have had on any of them. They look practically new. Excellent work. This is not an inexpensive venture, so make sure the shoes are worth repairing. As for some of the other post regarding rudeness/abruptness, I was treated just fine by two different folks...they were not chatty because they were fixing shoes(doing their job!). I give them a thumbs up. Pros: Great workmanship Cons: cash or check only but they tell you upfront...you should not be suprised more

Skilled Craftsman and personal service 2/21/2008

I love Shoe Savers! Quality shoes can only look great with quality workmanship! This is not a place to repair cheap shoes because you can just buy new cheap shoes but for my ""investment"" shoes this is the place! The owners have always treated me with respect and repair and clean in a timely manner. Pros: Expert Craftsmanship and Warm Family-owned Owners! Cons: cash or check only more

RUDE! RUDE!! RUDE!!! 12/9/2007

I was recommended to Shoe Savers by a friend. I have used them twice and been treated badly on both occassions. The man at the front counter would not let me express what was wrong with the shoes, and therefore, I have not been satisfied with the outcome. Furthermore, the lady who calls when your shoes are ready, is impolite and rude, and makes it clear that she only cares that you hurry up and bring cash. I will not return, and would strongly advise anyone else to find a place where the customer is number one, and business is appreciated. Cons: rude staff more

Hands down, the BEST repair shop 11/4/2007

The craftsmen at Shoe Savers are truly skilled and talented. I've brought shoes here that have been damaged by other shops, shoes that I never thought I'd wear again, and Shoe Savers performed a miracle on them - they looked as good as new! I'm really picky and it's very difficult for me to find shoes, so I consider each one is an investment. I take all of my shoes here, especially my Jimmy Choos, for everything from preventative maintenance to general overhauls. The shoes always come back looking fantastic. The repairs generally take 1-1.5 weeks, but it's well worth the short wait for the quality! The family is very nice and extremely knowledgeable with suggestions on the best way to take care of your shoes. Recently I had to go to rainy London with only a couple days notice and they were kind enough to get my Jimmy Choo boots ready at the last minute. I've recommended Shoe Savers to everyone I know. The repairs are high quality and there is just no comparison! If you love your shoes, you should definitely come here! Pros: Excellent, high quality work more

For those who truly value the shoes they walk in 10/22/2007

Jimmy Choo Boutique in the Galleria told me about Shoe Savers. Once I tried this amazing place, I have never gone anywhere else! Sure, you have to give the fine craftsman time, maybe even a week. Big deal! The results are well worth the wait, especially if you really love your Choos and other fine shoes. But don't let this fool you. Shoe Savers have ""saved"" some favorite shoes of mine that were not expensive shoes. They also stock ""shoozies"", those wonderful, shaped shoe trees, and all sorts of cleaners and comfort products. Yes! Fine artisans are alive and well in Houston....at Shoe Savers! more
