I was able to get off seizure medication and maintain a stable seizure free lifestyle with regular exercise, adjustments that started with a few times a week to just the maintenance. I also changed my eating habits and it has changed my life so much that my dad who never believed in chiropractors has started going and seeing results! I cannot say this for all chiropractors I just can for this practice from their approach, dedication to their patients, and their compassion towards people and the healthy approach to the combination of treatments necessary for the individual. Shannan Chiropractic, a father-son business, has saved me time, money, and frustration NUMEROUS TIMES. They are extremely professional, caring, friendly, and do not try to sell/charge you more than necessary. I have been going to them since 2005; I am about to move and they will be one of the things I miss the most. They are "impulse" doctors: use the activator which delivers a little "punch" on different vertebrae/areas (bone and muscle). They do offer great manual adjustments if you also want that awesome crack-release. Both doctors are EXTREMELY thorough and WILL get to the source of your pain. Not only do they work to heal spinal structures, but they also encourage whole-body wellness. They have a plethora of (shameless plug) Standard Process supplements that I swear by. The doctors know how to use these to better other complaints and ailments. Adding to their list of services, they have many "therapies": interferential, traction, ultrasound, and MSR. The "Posture Pump" is another one of their tools used to bring fluidity back into the spine. I know people who come to them from Round Rock, Lakeway, and San Marcos. They work on college and professional athletes. Clearly, I can't say enough. Now call and go get better! more

I've seen Drs George & Mark since 2003 and they have helped me maintain sound posture - without pain - and provided sound nutritional counseling. They must practice what they teach for nutrition 'cause there isn't an ounce of fat on either one of them! After having almost broken my neck in a fall in '07, whenever I start to get headaches, that's my signal to get adjusted and the pain is gone again for months. The activator is a new tool for those who are squeamish about manual adjustments - works like the old method, just a bit more subtle. I'm very thankful I went to see them 7 years ago and I couldn't recommend these gentlemen more enthusiastically. Pros: family oriented, kind, caring & flexible in scheduling Cons: none more

Drs George & Mark are wonderful chiropractors. My family has been going to them for 5 plus years. My daughter gets relief from her asthma, I get relief from headaches. Recently my husband went through a series of shots in the neck for pain. 6 weeks after the last shot he was back in pain. I told him he should have started with seeing Dr Mark. So he made the appt. He is now pain free. I recommend these wonderful Chiropractors to all my friends. I would even trust them with my 2 yr old neice!! I was hesitant to use any chiropractor but after my first visit with Dr. Mark Shannan NOTHING will change my mind about chiropractic care. I was in pain for 10 YEARS--- even had back surgery--- on all types of medication--- and now--- I am PAIN FREE (unless I do something stupid) and I take NO MEDICINE!!! There is NO better doctor- EVER. It's AMAZING the things that chiropractic care can help--- beyond anything I can even describe here---- even kidney failure!!!!!! It's the most affordable pain relief you can EVER do for yourself!!!! Everything these doctors do is VERY up-to-date and the best technology available! I don't know where I would be without them!!! Dr. Mark and Dr. George are both exceptional chiropractors. I have received adjustments from each of them, and although they have their personality differences, both are highly knowledgeable and efficient. I have recommended numerous friends and family to the Shannans and not one has been disappointed. In fact, one friend who had been seeing a chiropractor for years with no results, switched to Shannan Chiropractic. The activator method worked for her and she no longer suffers from lower back or knee pain. During both of my pregnancies, I went in for adjustments and could immediately notice the difference in my lower back, ribs and hips. The previous reviewer is clearly someone that does not understand chiropractic, or the Activator technique, and did not give it a chance. Dr. George has been in practice in Austin for 47 years and is one of the most masterful chiropractors in the U.S. He has worked on tens of thousands of patients that span the who's who lists in business, sports and entertainment worlds, as well as the hard-working everyday folks like you and me. I have personally heard "miracle" stories from the mouths of those who experienced them. People who had made every attempt to get relief from all known areas of healthcare expertise, who had been told there was nothing else that could be done, who were left with no hope and only excruciating pain. I've talked personally with many of these people who would agree that he was able to help them, some of them claiming he "saved their life." I, myself, have experienced no other doctor with such a level of expertise, gentle-hearted care and compassion for his patients, and a dedication that goes beyond what anyone could expect, giving of himself to the point of his own physical sacrifice. He's a selfless doctor and a rare master in the profession that continues to serve the people of Austin 5 days a week, when the only possible motivation he could have at the age of 73, is the love of his fellow man, and a desire to see them live full lives, without pain or dysfunction. I would encourage anyone with a physical challenge thinking of trying chiropractic, to experience it from someone who helped write the book...it would be their privilege, as it has been mine for 34 years. I went to see Dr. George after reading several good reviews on the other doctor in his practice (Mark Shannan). Dr. Mark didn't have availability, so I figured I'd see his father, George. I'm not sure how much of this applies to Mark, but I imagine their methods are fairly similar. On my first visit, we had a 10 minute discussion on my problems and then he took a couple of x-rays. I was told to come back the following morning once the Dr. had time to review my x-ray. I felt like this was an easy way to grab another visit fee out of me, but this may be a standard chiropractic practice. Anyhow, I returned the next morning and received some "corrections" via a tool called an Activator. This tool essentially places a small amount of pressure to certain areas of the spine. The areas where the doctor places the activator are determined by the length of your right or left leg - no joke. I was very sceptical after receiving these corrections...I just couldn't see how the Activator could provide any benefit. Sure enough, after doing some research, I learned that Activators are completely unproven scientifically, even though they have been around for decades. I think I'm ready to see an M.D. more

Dr. Shannan is incredibly professional and caring about not only the normal things you would expect a chiropractor to care about, but he really likes to get to know his patients on a personal level and often times networks them with others in the office.
