Best Old Fashion I've ever had! 10/16/2010

This place is the room that every man wishes he had in his house. the staff was great, and the drinks where better. cant wait to go again. more

Sexy Little Cocktail Spot 8/27/2010

Rob Roy is one of the best spots in Seattle for a great cocktail. No overtly sweet appletinis here (thank god!). The mood is smoldering and sexy with black leather seating and interesting decor. I honestly can't tell that big of a difference from Viceroy to Rob Roy except now the drinks are better. Great after dinner spot for amazing drinks! more

Why change something that works? 3/27/2009

I've been going to Rob Roy (Viceroy) from time to time for the last couple of years. I don't mind change, as long as its for the better. I asked them why they changed the name and the decor. The reason: because they wanted to be a more upscale place. What was wrong with the not-so-upscale? Not quite sure how going for Van Gogh (old painting) to psychedelic helps that much. They also moved from being a relaxed, fun, lets hang out kind of place to a more serious, lets get in and get out kind of place. I still think it's one of the better places in Belltown, I just find it unfortunate the vibe changed for the worse. Pros: Cheap Drinks, DJ Cons: Awkward layout more

Viceroy, New and Improved??? 8/10/2008

I've been a Viceroy regular for almost 2 years now and until recently enjoyed almost everything about this bar....Sleek, swanky decor, awesome friendly staff, unique drink menu...Lately, I'm not so sure. First the decor took a turn for the worst - Not sure what's up with all the tacky psychadellic artwork, but it really is hideous...then some of the best bar/waitstaff in town disappeared. Sadly, between the changes in ambience and recent employee turn-over, Viceroy just isn't the same place it used to be. I think time to find a new happy hour hangout : ( more

Was Great, now I'm not so sure. 5/31/2008

I've been a semi-regular to this bar since they opened almost 5 years ago. I even reserved the place 2 years ago for my 30th B-day party and it was awesome! The staff is great, The drinks are great, and a atmosphere USED to be great. \r Now I'm not sure if I can bring dates or even friends here anymore. Why the remodel??? What's up with the sh!tty 80's black light hippy art? I loved the whole sleek dark James Bond style. Now it's just some stoner's cheap poster collection. I'll miss you viceroy. Pros: Staff, Drinks Cons: Bad Remodel more

We need to talk 4/29/2008

Viceroy, I like you a lot and I know a bit of change from time to time keeps things fresh...but, how do I say this...your new artwork hates eyes, *my* eyes at least. You do not have gallery white walls, Viceroy, nor to you have primary colored lucite chairs or chandeliers made of paperclips or chenille covered beanbags, so why the Op Art? Viceroy, you are this chess den in the country house of that creepy Franco-Russian playwright type of sultry...Just be yourself; everyone wants to get with you.\r \r Also, when you wear your tables all high on one side like that and couches all low on the other, it makes you look a little lopsided. It had to be said. more

The Viceroy...Where Everybody Knows Your Name 11/17/2007

Remember the show Cheers? The bar where everybody knew your name? Viceroy appears to be the Seattle incarnation...A fun, friendly bar that appears to draw lots of regulars. Sitting at the bar and sipping a drink while waiting for a friend to join me, I was impressed by how many times the staff actually greeted customers by name. I can see why people would keep coming back...the service is friendly, seating is comfortable, and the drinks are tasty. Try their cucumber cocktail...refreshing. Viceroy has the right idea... Pros: Service, Unique cocktails Cons: Parking more

Sexiest Bartender Ever! 10/13/2007

Amy German is without a doubt the sexiest bartender alive today.\r She looks great, is utterly charming, serves the punters promptly with a smile and just oozes sexiness.\r I'm from London and met Amy a mere twice in The West End, Roatan, Honduras, in '99. So what do I know?\r Well, I know for one thing that I'd not hesitate to visit this here bar for a dose of possibly the coolest vibration around were I ever in Seattle. Yet if Amy wasn't there, I'd be gutted.\r You, my friend, should check it out.\r All the best Amy,\r Joel\r x Pros: Amy German more

why bother writing a review when 20 are already written? 10/2/2007

let me start by saying i'm one of the few who don't like linda's other bars. ""lindas"" on capitol hill and ""king's hardware"" are too easily a place for children to join forces in the army of drunken weekend displays of intentional retardation of the social skills. \r \r how then, did she come up with such a refined atmosphere with elegant furnishings and an exceptional selection of fine beverages, find a couple of really great bartenders, and put it all together in a great location?\r \r who knows... but i adore this bar. go there for happy hour, have a few then find something to eat at any of the great restaurants within sight of the viceroy's front door. then go back to the viceroy and enjoy the week night scene, if you get too drunk, or find a one-night-stand buddy, ask your bartender how to get to the ace hotel. Pros: very good spot for a date, or a whole party. Cons: can get too crowded. more

good ambiance, good service, weak drinks 9/17/2007

i know we'd been drinking all night, but usually you can taste the liquor in your drink....\r \r this place never lets me down as far as the crowd goes...good people, i love just sitting on the couches inside. more

Great Sunday Lounge Spot 4/23/2007

I've been going to the Viceroy on Sunday nights the past few weeks and I'm loving it. Unlike Fridays and Saturdays, Sundays have the relaxed lounge feel the Viceroy is so great at. The DJ is amazing--I love the blend of classic funk and soul and modern rap. James (the bartender) definitely knows how to pour. I highly recommend it for your weekend windown. Pros: Ambience, Live Music, Great Drinks, Happening Crowd more

Pros and Con 2/8/2007

So many things about this place are so right....warm, intimate ambience, attentive service, tasty cocktails.... the Viceroy would be the perfect spot to gather for an evening of drinks and good conversation...unfortunately the LOUD music makes this more than a little difficult. My friends and I stopped by on a Wednesday night. The DJ was playing fun music but it was so loud that we were forced to yell to maintain conversation. The Viceroy has a great lounge-like ambience, but the blaring music seems a contradiction to the whole ""lounge"" concept.... Pros: ambience, service Cons: loud music, parking more

Typical Seattle Nightspot 1/8/2007

Okay, Viceroy has decent drinks, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, but I have to say it's a typical Seattle nightspot. My wife and I went here after Sushi as Shiro's for a drink on a Friday night and Viceroy was filled to capacity with seriously ugly people. And by ugly, I mean women that might have been attractive but were wearing flannel, big loose jeans, stocking caps, etc. etc. Seattle is the only city in the U.S. where women think dressing up to go out for cocktails is a cotton hoodie and Converse All-Stars. Ugh. See and be seen? Only if you want to see skids and lumberjacks. Pros: Cute waitresses Cons: Attracts the flannel and Doc Martens crowd more

Check it out! 11/28/2006

A little loud, but otherwise a great time. I heard good things about this spot and checked it out for the first time last Saturday with some friends. Great drinks, cool furniture, and our waitress was awesome. Just an all around good vibe. more

Great scene 11/16/2006

I loved this place. It was really romantic with comfy leather benches to cuddle on, dim lighting, and funky decor. Our waitress was really fun and dedicated to making our experience pleasant. The only problem was they didn't have the liquor for the first couple of drinks I ordered, so no fun drinks : ( however the drink i did end up ordering was amazing. I loved the cute little cups of goldfish set out on the tables. Pros: service, ambiance, music Cons: limited drink variety more

swanky place---lots of girls 10/26/2006

i like this place for the crowd that it attracts and also for the strong drinks. it is centrally located, though parking can be spotty. more

Love Love Love this place!!! 9/26/2006

My co-workers and I have become Friday evening happy hour regulars and love this spot! Although the vibe changes markedly after 10pm when a DJ usually begins spinning for the night, happy hour here is perfect for winding down and taking the edge off. Comfy couches, coffee tables....it's like sitting in someone's chicly decorated living room. The service is warm, fun, and friendly. We adore our usual cocktail server and have always had pleasant service when seated at the bar. Great vibe, great staff, great drinks......can't think of a better spot for happy hour cocktails. Pros: Great Service, Great $3 happy hour well drinks Cons: limited food menu more

Best Nightlife in Belltown 9/22/2006

A girlfriend introduced me to the Viceroy the other night, and I am a new believer that good nightlife still exists in Belltown!! Unlike the cheesed out bar scene that seems so present down on First ave., Viceroy is a nice getaway. The lounge is comfortable and open, encouraging social activity with a young attractive crowd and good music to boot. Our bartender James was charming and friendly, making us feel right at home. I'll definitely be back next week with a few more of my girls to share this little jem in the heart of Seattle... I only hope we can grab a couch! Pros: ambience, service, great overall atmosphere more

Blind Date 4/12/2006

I'm not one for getting fixed up, but I decided to take a chance. I was nervous and didn't want to go somewhere too big and overwhelming, or a place too small and romantic (just in case he was a snore!) One of his co-workers recommended the Viceroy. When I walked in through the large Bank looking door, I was already impressed by the warm cozy atmosphere. There was a DJ setting up for a night they have there. My date was waiting for me at the bar with a Martini. I'm not much of a drinker so I was a little nervous about ordering. The Bartender was very helpful and suggested The Bergdorf. It was a refreshing, not too sweet, Vodka Martini. The place eventually filled with a young hip crowd. The music was fun and lively. I really liked my date and the spot! I was pleasantly suprised. Pros: Romantic, Not Cheesy, Good Drinks more
