Halloween facial 3/6/2012

My first pedicure experience at Rescue was just wonderful. Several months ago, I thought I'd try a facial since they got good press. It wasn't the best , it was OK. I purchased a lipstick and spoke afterwards with the woman who gave me the facial. I spoke with the cashier. That's three people!.................Not one of them told me that I had product that was not wiped off after my treatment. I was shocked when I got home to see what I had been walking around town with, under my nose. I get the feeling that if you are part of the "IN" group, your reception is much warmer. The worst part.............rather than give them a bad review for all to see, I wrote to them about my experience. Not a word back to me. more

Alicja - best massage I've ever had! 10/9/2011

Alicja is an extremely gifted massage therapist. I have long-standing spine issues and I see Alicja regularly for deep-tissue massages. Unlike other massage therapists that have a routine they hardly deviate from, Alicja *acutally* listens to what your specific problem areas are and alters her treatment plan accordingly. No more telling your therapist that your low back hurts and they work on your arms / upper body for half of the time. Some people in this world have a "calling" and I believe that Alicja's is massage therapy. She truly cares about her clients and their well-being. It is refreshing to see someone truly passionate about what they do. Alicja is a rare find and exceptionally talented. I've had massages all over the world and I have to say that Alicja is second to none. Keep up the great work, Alicja! more

The worst spa experience I have ever had!! 5/30/2011

I had a few positive reviews about this place and was looking forward to going (i had received a $100 gift certificate as a gift.....if it was my own money I would have demanded a refund and walked out in 5min). However, this place was SO bad I was stunned. I have warned everyone I know that gets these services to make sure to avoid this place!!! They didn't have to be really friendly, but you shouldn't be treated with contempt when you go to a spa!! I would have complained to the manager/owner, but she just talked on her cell phone the whole time and didn't seem to really care anyway so i didn't bother. You can get so much better service and treatment from people who actually know what they are doing for much less. Here is an indication of what kind of place this is: they sell nice products there, but in the dressing area they have Tre semme and a few other cheap products that you can get at CVS for their clients to use. WHO DOES THIS???? I arrived 10min early for my appointment and was assigned to a woman named Venus for a massage. Within a few minutes it was VERY apparent that she had little experience giving a massage. SHE CONSTANTLY HAD TO BE REMINDED WHAT WAS A MUSCLE AND WHAT WAS A BONE!!!. She definitely seemed to hate what she was doing.....not a relaxing experience. She also had hot stones but she had no idea how to use them. It was clear that she had no idea what she was doing--I have had students with little experience give me a massage that were much better. Then after she put on the hot stones, she told me to get dressed right then while she waited for me outside the door (this is after 10min of what was supposed to be a 1/2hr massage). The hot stones were the only relaxing thing about the whole experience and she wanted me to get up right away?!? Every time i have had a massages done somewhere they let you lay down for awhile, but apparently not here. I get dressed and then I am served warm tap water with lemon. She seemed impatient with me for taking too long to get up and get dressed. This was a $50 massage.....I was going to get my 1/2 hr whether they liked it or not!!! I wanted to leave right then, but i thought I should use the rest of of gift certificate. The "deluxe" pedicure I received ended up looking pretty good and did last a long time, but the woman who performed it was much too rough even after I asked her to be more careful repeatedly. She was in such a hurry even though there was only one other customer in there. This is what you get for a $50 deluxe pedicure: they soak your feet for a few minutes, gouge you with clippers and nail files then paint your toe nails. Again, I have had much better service for $15. These people would be better off working on cars because they don't seem to like people very much! more

Great Experience and Even Better Results 2/23/2011

Linda's hands are magical and my skin is the proof. She gives the BEST facials and her product references are on point!!!! more

Amazing Results at Rescue!!!!! 2/4/2011

Less than a year ago I started getting facials with Tierza! She gives the best facials! I'm no longer hiding my pimples with makeup and my skin is now smooth and glowing, it's really amazing! She talks with me at the beginning of every facial about my worries and any changes in my skin, she always tells me what to expect and how long it might take to get results. Products are a must, they're awesome! She has made me feel hopeful about my skin for the first time in a long time, I had been to so many Derm's who never seem to take my acne seriously. Now I'm a true blue believer in Rescue! Ps. the reception girls have always been really nice and helpful too! Thanks Rescue, see you soon! more

lovely experience 2/2/2011

My friends and I have been visiting the spa for many years during our annual "girl's weekend". I would best describe it as comfortable, serene and cozy ( the bathroom/locker area could be larger). I had a massage with Andrew. He did a great job and I heard the same comment from the person prior to me. I would say that the requested swedish massage was a bit more on the deep-tissue side....although Andrew did ask me if the pressure was appropriate for me...so I believe that he would have adjusted had I asked him to do so. I appreciated the fact that he did not initiate "small-talk" during my time of relaxation! I have seen several reviews stating that the front desk people are rude. Over my many years visiting, they have been nothing but pleasant. I also very much enjoyed my complimentary cappuccino while waiting. more

Favorite Place to be Rescued 12/25/2010

Rescue Spa is heaven - the glowing complexion that comes from Donna's hands, potions and treatments; the total relaxation and healing of Andrew's massage; the picture-perfect long lasting manicures and pedicures that Anna Marie delivers and the bright smile and cool efficiency with which Michelle greets you on the phone and at the elevator door. Rescue is an oasis of healing, relaxation and magic in the middle of bustling down-town. It is simply put, one of my very favorite places in all of Philadelphia. Marsha Cohen Philadelphia more

linphilly 10/23/2010

i have been here a few times, i really like the manis/ pedis, except the pedi bench is very uncomfortable. The problem with this place is the staff is too busy chatting with each other and ignores the clients. this has happened every time I'm there. more

Beaten by a steel hammer 9/1/2010

I should have stayed home and run ice cubes down my back then beat myself with a steel hammer and I would have felt better when it was done. The best thing about this massage was that it was over. I am still in pain. more

manicure/pedicure 8/3/2010

So I've been to all the usual suspects in the city trying to find a nail tech who knows what they are doing. I'd pay any amount of money for my cuticles not to fray after 2 days and for my polish to stay on for at least 5 days. Now I don't have to offer my first born any longer...RESCUE RITTENHOUSE and SALLY have intervened! For a meer $25 and a few days notice, I leave with meticulously cleaned nails and cuticles and polish that stays on until Sally takes it off the next week. Gina and Anna Maria are excellent too! Pros: perfectionistas Cons: hard to get appointments more

Excellent Facial = Monika K. 6/7/2010

I had an intense facial with Monika. I thought I would leave all red and puffy because my skin was sooo bad, but I left glowing and got compliments from strangers on my skin! Monika was very informative and gave me great advice on my skin care regime. I will definately be back for a facial with Monika K. Pros: professional, relaxing more

Rescue Rittenhouse Spa Lounge is top noch! 12/4/2009

Beautiful spa! The front desk ladies are very helpful and lovely to deal with. If you are looking for an AWESOME manicure or pedicure, look no further than Gina. You won't be disappointed! more

Most relaxing facial ever 10/14/2009

I went for a facial with Tirzah at Spa Rescue after finding out about them ... and was blown away. The facial definitely improved the appearance of my skin... but more than that it was relaxing. I was pampered with steamy towels, masks, and lotions ... all topped off with light massage. I felt as though my skin received expert attention specific to my skin care needs, not just something the spa likes to sell, and that the products used and suggested made a HUGE difference. I would go back to improve my appearance... I would also go back to treat myself. Tirzah took excellent care of me and the products she recommended have continued to improve my skin the more I use them. Pros: Glowing skin, expert advice, most relaxing thing ever Cons: none more

best facial by Monica 9/15/2009

I had facial with Monica, very attentive, pleasant simply wonderful person. She gave me amazing massage which left my face relaxed the way I never knew it could. She removed all black heads that bothered me and used products to minimize visibility of my pores. Monica gave me excellent advice on skin products! She recommended P50 toner to balance PH of my face and I am extremely happy with the purchase. If i may say money well spent on service and product! Best facial I ever had and I get them every 2 months due to my skin condition. Monica has my two thumbs up. I will be back again soon. more

Relax & undwind! 4/18/2009

I had got a gift certificate for Mothers day last year& just recently had time to use it. I had a great day relaxing at the Rescue Spa. I got a manicure & Pedicure. Best one I ever had. I will be back for future spa needs. Might try a massage next time. Worth the trip from south jersey! more

Dog Please Leave!! 3/10/2009

I recently spent a day @ Rescue for the 1st time. This was my first time ever getting a facial or a massage. The facial was a amazing and quite relaxing. The massageon the other hand was slightly painful and at times uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I would never return again due to the disruption caused by the dog barking several times during both services. If I'm paying $200 to for a service it should be tranquil... Dogs should be confined to your home or a dog park, not a place of business! more

A dog in a spa?!?! 2/18/2009

I recently went to Rescue for a spa day with my partner. We had massages and facials scheduled. This was my second visit with Rescue. The services were GREAT. My visit however was tainted by the dog barking in the reception area. During both my facial and my massage I could hear the dog yipping several times. Aren't Spas supposed to be quiet and relaxing? On my first visit with Rescue the yipping dog could be heard as well. I will not return to Rescue again for this reason. The first time I could let go but a second time forget it. If I am paying for a Spa service it should be perfect from beginning to end and a quiet serene atmosphere is a key component. A dog, especially a dog that barks, does not belong in a spa!! more

great service, nice products 1/29/2009

I visit Rescue monthly, it has a calm serene feel with nice scents... Mostly I love the services I receive from there. My facials are first class, Erica is very gifted and has a touch and presence that is calming and she shape eyebrows too.. more

Amazing Mani/Pedi 1/27/2009

I have seen Anna Marie for a manicure and pedicure several times and have never been disappointed. She is down to earth and very talented at what she does. Her polishes last longer then any other place (several weeks - no chipping!) and she even mixes her own unique polish combinations so you have a one-of-a-kind color. I highly recommend this place and their services! Pros: great service and lots of options Cons: crowded waiting area more

Completely disagree... 1/6/2009

After raving to my friends about my experiences at Rescue (with Samantha I might add) I was surprised by the review I read. I have had 2 facials with her and waxing...all great experiences. She made suggestions as I woud expect (finally a serious skin care spa in this city!). My skin was happy, glowing and begging for more! Hate to say it but maybe she was trying to tell you something your friends won't...like you need a lip/chin wax. I agree regarding the little dog, barks too much, snaps at people. Keep up the great work! Pros: highly trained, quality products, location Cons: dog, pricey more
