As an average pub in portland this place and its owners act as though they dont even have to provide basic service. We went to watch one of our friends DJ at this club and not only were we charged for doubles when we ordered singles, our mini well drinks were $10 a piece. We hung out all night paying ridiculous prices for cups of ice and sprite, to find out the owners refused to pay our friend who came to play. Ordering food was a nightmare. french fires too almost an hour and were dripping with black grease... gross. Wow, this place is a nightmare. Pros: Not a single thing Cons: Everything more

ODD MIXTURE 9/9/2009

It was an odd mixture, a live painter with beautiful artwork to a rapper that is an overweight goon that cant hold a tune (that is BAD when you are trying to rap), Overly intoxicated people still being served and drinking while sloshing their drinks all over you and staggering. The place was trying to be a modern swanky, but was rather dirty. I didn't dare try the bathroom, but heard from another that the "bathroom is awesome, dude!" One bartender serving 75+ people on a Saturday night. I doubt I will go again. Also, they have outside seating, which is nice if you need your yearly intake of car exhaust and toxins as it is located at the intersection of Burnside, Sandy Blvd, and Stark- you know, the crazy intersection that is by the hippo store & that has the billboards staring at you as you realize that you need the other lane and the taxi next to you wont let you in? Yeah, that is the one. If you choose to go, I hope that your experience is better than mine was. Pros: Live painter, decent $ drinks, 1 good musician Cons: bad rappers, dirty, over intoxication and still serving more

More Spendy Less Trendy 4/22/2008

Its almost to expensive to walk through the doors, I prefer the Galaxy or BOG to this overpriced parade of people that all look the same. The food is decent, if you can afford it, or see it! Smallest portions of sub-par food in P-town! But, a lot of ""cool"" people hang there so perhaps, I am just not that cool. Pros: Staff Cons: Expense more

Great drinks and service but the music is too loud 3/10/2008

I went on a Saturday night with a friend around 9:30pm. The place wasn't very crowded which was a surprise. The service was awesome! Our waitress was very attentive and made great suggestions. Their cocktails are wonderful. Some of the combinations were very imaginative. The music was ok but it was way too loud. You had to scream at your friend during a conversation which was hard to do after awhile because you could hardly think due to all the noise. The DJ was right by the front door which was a weird place to be. I will definitely go back to check out their happy hour. The menu looked really good. Pros: Service, cocktail selection, atmosphere Cons: Music level more

Love this eastside bar 2/6/2008

Whoa, this place is great!! the atmosphere, the decor, the food, the drinks....all are fantastic!\r I had a great time on a Monday night playing Jenga of all things!!\r They have a great happy hour too. Cheap food and drinks.\r Loved it. Pros: great location Cons: its not next door to my house more

Really flavorful food and great drink concoctions 12/8/2007

This place on east burnside (a few blocks up from Doug Fir and right across from Hippo hardware in the big red building) gives off an interesting vibe. A bit hip, but the skate art and the open DJ night suggest a tone of local arrtist support, which Im into anywhere. The drinks here are awesome, not much beer on tap, but if you like an extensive and interesting drink menu, go here My favorites are the Maddy Hatter, the Pretty boy and the spiced toddy. Good stuff. The food is amazing- no french fries here. Snack on the curried mushrooms, try the pork belly sandwich with a duck egg on top, and the ribs are so good. Happy hour is the time to go, but earlier on a weeknight works too...(Im not into crowds and this place has sometimes got them on the weekend, sometimes annoying) The bartender with a beard was very nice! (and cute!) \r Its figuring out its niche, but the product it offers is well worth checking out. Pros: HAPPY HOUR!! good central location, GREAT mixed drink menu and Really flavorful food options! Cons: sometimes the crowd is less than desirable and the sound is too, if you enjoy conversation. more
