Alamo Quarry Theater 12/22/2005

A great place to go!!! Alamo Quarry Cinema has very nice workers. Shopping and great food are very close by at an average price. This theatre has a good selection of show times and movies to choose from. They have comfy chairs and big drink holders. Once you find a parking spot you don't have to worry any longer because everything is nearby, but overall, it's a great cinema. It's a very nice place to take a date. more

Love the atmosphere! 10/4/2005

Very neat place to go!! Alamo Quarry Cinema has gears and escalators...deep red carpeting. Cool and unique design. Shopping and good food are close at hand. You can park once and go to a restaurant and take in a few shops within easy walking distance. Everything you need is nearby. Theatre has good selection of show times and movies to choose from. Stadium seating with comfy chairs and big drink holders. Parking can be a little bit difficult sometimes, but overall, great cinema. Nice place to take a date. more

Great place to see a movie. 9/30/2005

The Alamo Quarry Theater in my opinion is one of the best theaters in San Antonio. It is clean and the way they designed the inside looks great. It is big enough that you have a wide variety of choices in movies. It is also located in a shopping center so you can do a little shopping and then go see a movie and even get a bite to eat after the movie/ more

A great hangout 8/20/2005

The Quarry Cinema is one of the most popular theaters in San Antonio, and for good reason. Its location, in the midst of so many stores and restaurants, makes it a great place to go for dinner and a movie, or just to hang out on a Saturday afternoon. The theater itself is pretty well maintained. Each of its 14 screens has a decent sound system (unfortunately, the sound is often too loud on many releases - I think that's a common problem with most theaters) and is kept pretty clean by the staff. The concessions are pretty expensive, but that's to be expected of your typical movie theater. Since I don't usually buy popcorn or candy when I'm there, it's not really an issue for me, but I imagine it might be for a family trying to plan a trip to the movies. Another problem is that before you get to a single trailer, you have to sit through about half an hour of unrelated commercial content, including "The Twenty", a 20-minute commercial for whatever TV shows or DVDs are about to be released. It's pretty shallow and adds nothing to the moviegoing experience. But it's possible to time your trips to avoid most of that. And once it's over, you do get to enjoy your movie with only the rarest of glitches. I'll recommend the Quarry because it offers a solid moviegoing experience, and with a trip to Borders or any of the restaurants nearby, it's a great place to go when you want to go out. more

graet place for a movie 8/13/2005

this is the best movie theater in san antonio as far as i am concerned. it is in a prime location in the quarry. you can go have dinner at one of the many fine restaurants, go watch a movie, and then when the movie is done, go get a coffee. great seating, great sound quality. you can purchase tickets outside from an ATM looking machine, which cuts the need to wait in line. more

Great Location 8/5/2005

This is an ideal spot for a movie theater. It is right by everything you need for a fun filled day. You can eat at the many restaurants, eat some more at the movie theater and enjoy a movie, then finish the day shopping. The movie theater is great, the seats are comfortable and the sound is top notch for a great movie viewing experience. more

Quarry Movie Theater 8/4/2005

This theater is nice but sometimes overcrowded. The staff is young a little rude sometimes but thats okay. Its the place for the young ones to hang out on the weekends so if you do not mind the teenagers then its fine. Its a great place to go for a dinner and date movie since there are so many restaurants near by. I suggest this theater since there are many theater rooms so they have a wide variety. more

Editorial
  • The Theater
Representing the latest in movie theater trends, the Alamo Quarry 14 carries both weekly mainstream movie releases as well as the more successful movies from the last few weeks. Theater design borrows from the surrounding shopping plaza's quarry theme, featuring large metallic machinery. A small coffee cart on the theater's upper level adds to the Quarry's unique character, while a large screen in the adjoining cafe area gives moviegoers a more comfortable place to wait for a movie to start than a crowded lobby.

    The Extras
The theater offers standard movie food fare--with a small popcorn and small soda priced at $2.75 each--in the large snack bar on the first level. The individual theaters are comfortable with roomy aisles, stadium seating and love seat-style arm rests. The surrounding shopping plaza offers several restaurants, an ice cream stand and a Borders bookstore to provide before and after movie entertainment.
