Honest and Professional Service 12/28/2010

My neighbor who is a mechanic himself (motorcycles, not cars) recommended Ray's to me a few years ago and I've been a loyal customer since then. \r \r I once took my car into Ray's to have the A/C serviced because it hadn't been working for several weeks. The owner Peggy called me later that day and told me the A/C was working but they hadn't done anything to it and there was no charge for the service. She asked if I knew how to use the controls but not in a condescending way. It will forever be a mystery why it stopped working and why it started working again, but it did occur to me that a less reputable repair shop could have really taken me for a ride!\r \r It's especially important for someone who doesn't know or care much about cars to find a mechanic who does know and care and who will be honest about when the car needs work and when it doesn't. This a great place to go whether you're a mechanic like my neighbor or decidedly *not* a mechanic like me. more

Fair, honest, easy to work with repair shop 8/12/2010

I have been using Ray's Garage for six years. All of the mechanics there are good. But, what sets Ray's Garage apart is the owner Peggy. She is honest, direct, and easy to work with. She explains everything that needs to be done, what could go wrong, and what should be fixed in the future. I drive 20 miles and past many other garages to go here. more

this place is a good price-quality combination 6/21/2009

I have been going to this repair shop for about three years now and they remain my go-to auto repair place. the work has been consistently good and the one time that I have had an issue with the repair, they made it good. Decent car repair is not free and this place is less expensive than a dealership and for me I am comfortable with the quality for the price at this place. Pros: they do the work, use quality parts, and are nice Cons: car repair is a bummer, no matter how you cut it more

Debbie brought her '97 Honda Civic to Ray's Garage with an estimate from a body shop to replace her A/C Compressor as it was locked up and hadn't worked for 5 years. My estimate, using new O.E. parts was in\r line with the estimate from the body shop's. Their estimate was based on aftermarket parts. I made it very clear to Debbie that I felt very uncomfortable replacing a Compressor in an A/C system that hadn't worked for five years, because it would ""probably"" have other related issues. She told me that she understood this and was prepared to repair the car. The vehicle also had a leak at the Evaperator Core. There was no way to determine this prior to replacing the locked up A/C Compressor. The Evaperator Core was also replaced and now has cold air for her. The estimate ""was not"" twice what she was originally quoted! I made every aspect of this repair very clear to Debbie. It's unfortunate that her vehicle needed the additional repair, but she was advised this would probably be the case.\r Peggy Maul - Owner\r Ray's Garage more

horrible experience!! 7/10/2008

I chose Ray's garage to replace my AC unit because I was told they could give me ""better parts"" for a ""comparable price"" to another shop. I ended up with a comparable price - but only a few parts were replaced and the AC unit did not work when I got the car back. Apparently they didn't notice that cold air didn't come out unless the car was traveling over 50-60mph and the car shook when it was idling. I took the car back and was told other parts needed to be replaced. In their defense, I was warned of this - but the resulting fees were 2x what was previously mentioned. I ended up spending almost 2x what the other shop wanted to charge. Overall, I would not recommend Ray's Garage - especially if you need any AC work done. more
