I've tried many in this area and have been most excited about the care, touch, technique and percision These two ladies put into taking care of my hair, eyebrows and hands. Anna takes great care to make sure i'm ecstatic about the way I look. From my position I've seen very happy women working with Ashly. you should try them. Great hair salon in San Antonio 11/5/2011

Excellent salon, reasonable prices, great location - what more could you want? I've been quite a few times, and I've watched the stylists work, and they definitely know what they're doing. I don't believe the person who gave them one star - all the other reviews are so positive. Guess that person had a grudge or something. Raw is cosy, friendly, and comfortable, not at all like those big expensive salons where you pay through the nose to wait around and be impressed by the high end interior design. At Raw I'm impressed by the good work. more

Awesome Studio! 11/2/2011

I first wen to Raw after purchasing a Groupon for a pedicure. I was really pleased with the service--Ashley gave me the best pedicure I have ever had and when I messed up one of the nails, she happily repaired it the next day. That was a month ago, and the pedicure still looks good! Today, I went back for hair color and a cut. My color was a total mess, I had been coloring it myself and was trying to go to a lighter color, so I had various different shades. Ashely and Ana worked together over the course of 4 hours to strip out the old color, remove the red highlights and bring me to a more natural golden brown. It looks amazing! I cannot believe the change and have gotten a ton of compliments already. One thing I noticed that I really like compared to other salons I have been in is the degree of attention Ashely and Ana give their clients. In other places, it seems like they get bored with the client and are more interested in gossiping with one another. At Raw, the focus is entirely on the client. They checked in with me repeatedly to make sure they were doing what I wanted. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially those who have difficult color issues (or just want a great pedicure or hair cut!) more

not so impressed 10/28/2011

As a long time Aveda fan I was referred to Raw,when I called to make my appointment the stylist that had been suggested to me was no longer there...I decided to take a chance anyway. Big MISTAKE. I walked in and was impressed,cute place, great location! Unfortunately that was the only positive thing about my visit. When my stylist approached me she seemed very nervous. I just wanted a simple highlight and cut. My stylist seemed very unsure of what she was doing, and put my service on hold several times while she questioned the only other stylist there. When she finally started my service she was shaking so bad I couldn't tell if it was nerves or some other ailment. Either way, it was very disconcerting. As the foils were Slowly put in, I was made aware she wasn't even using Aveda product! For a place that boasts Aveda, this was very disappointing. Buyer Beware, this is Not an Aveda Salon.The color was ok ,definitely not what I was expecting. it was kind of spotty, and my layers were very uneven. Next time I will stick with Aveda Institute, it is just around the corner after all! more

LOVE my color and cut!!! 10/27/2011

Love everything about Raw. Moved to San Antonio in January 2011 and luckily was referred to Anna right away . Its a bit of a drive for me but WORTH EVERY MILE! The atmosphere in the salon is relaxing and fun and I always feel like I have Anna's undivided attention when I'm there. Love the time she takes consulting, the head and hand massages, and the friendly conversation. Last visit we made some changes to my cut and added a few more layers--I loved it and got a number of compliments. Yesterday, we decided to change the color and it turned out amazing--a little darker with beautiful copper highlights. I am so pleased with how natural it looks. I trust Anna's expertise and have always been delighted with the results. Make an appointment with Anna and I guarantee you will go back again and again. more

never loved my hair this much before! 10/23/2011

RAW is an adorable salon in a quaint unique building that all of San Antonio needs to know about! It is a welcoming and friendly salon, and you will feel like family as soon as you walk in the door. Ashley has done both my hair and a pedicure and she is amazing!! Not only do I love my new color, but there was a never a second of that awkward interaction you so often feel with a hairstylist. She is extremely personal and will make you feel like a million bucks both inside and out. She gave me exactly what I asked for with my color....made suggestions, but didn't try to talk me out of what I knew that I wanted! Love my hair and can't wait to go back. If you book an appointment with Ashley, I swear...you will become a regular of hers! Thanks Ashley, can't wait to see you again for my hair and a pedicure! more

I LOVE my hair! 10/23/2011

I have lived in San Antonio most of my life and have always gone to the same person. I decided to try Raw and went to Ashley and I will be going to her from now on! She was AMAZING! Not only was she personable and so fun, but I haven't stopped getting compliments on my highlights! She takes her time and makes sure she does exactly what you wanted. I absolutely loved the studio and Ashley. Anna got to know me as well when I wasn't even her client! :) Great place, highly recommended! more

Ashley started doing my nails and hair this past spring. I love her! She is so thoughtful and talented. The Raw studio is also such a pleasant and calming place. Lots of goodness there. You get a hand massage and the Aveda products are wonderful. I highly recommend them! more

Anna Is Amazingly talented and Raw 9/21/2011

I have known Anna for years and she is always amazing to me. She has so much talent and vision in her little finger and always brings out the amazing you. She now has Aveda products, which is fabulouuuuuus! As soon as you walk into her hair studio Raw, you feel that tranquility that is who she is, which she also brings to her work. Her studio is both earthy retro and raw. And it is most definately an extension of her artistic flair and expression and goes beyond her obvious talents and expertise for your tresses. She gives you her all, and to her that is everything. And for me, that rocks the casbah. Never will there be another. I absolutely love the waterless pedicures by Ashley, it is all the rage and a very different experience than your regular spa pedi. And Anna's hair massages are the best I have ever had. I want to return for that alone. You will feel pampered, destressed, and love your new do. Anna is simply sophisticated and yet lovingly RAW. You will not be disappointed when you place your tresses in her hands. more

Truly, RAW works MIRACLES 9/17/2011

Ana has now done my hair twice (and granted, I unfortunately do have not much) yet has made me appear to have a full head and duplicate the latest style, thus providing additional confidence in my appearance. The atmosphere in the salon will put anyone at ease and melt your stress away. From the moment you walk in the door your are greeted with a warm smile and feel valued as a patron. Upon leaving you feel like family. Many have ""learned"" their skill yet Ana and Ashley have a true natural gift that surpasses so many in their field. They truly listen to the desired end results you are searching for and deliver. I sat in amazement today with the dedication Ashley provided to ensure the happiness with one of her clients. Upon completion of her cut and style, the client decided she wanted a shorter length. Ashley without hesitation stated she would be happy to take the additional length off and began working her magic. Their desire is to exceed your expectations. and this they ALWAYS do. I recommend anyone, male or female of any age to put your trust in either of these two wonderful ladies hands. You will walk away a changed person for the better. more

I can't stop looking and touching my hair! 9/14/2011

RAW is the place to go to be treated like the beautiful individual that you are. The place is cozy, warm, and full of good vibes. Anna and Ashley have an incredible energy that you will find no where else! Ashley has colored my hair twice now and each time she has done an amazing job! My hair looks healthiers, shinier and fabulous everytime she touches it. She takes pride in making sure you happy and feel fabulous. I, no doubt, feel like she takes care of me and my hair as if it were her own. I love this place!! And be sure to get a shellac manicure, AMAZING! more

AMAZING!!!! INEVER THOUGHT MY HAIR COULD LOOK SO GOOD 9/8/2011

I came to Raw after a long history of bad hair salon experiences. I was very anxious, needless to say. Ashley my stylist made me immediately feel at ease. She listened to me patiently, as I explained what I wanted...... WOW!!! Ashley transformed my hair and took it beyond my expectations. She does the best color/highlighting I've ever had. No streaky highlights here. The color looks better and so natural. I get compliments all the time. Plus she is such a nice sweet person, genuine and friendly. I love my hair thanks to my stylist ASHLEY!!!! more

I have only visited the salon once, but I already need to write a review! It was just that amazing! My hair was done by none other then, Ashley. She did an amazing job! It was the week of my engagement photos. So, I brought in a picture of the hair color I was looking for. She created it. It was absolutely perfect. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is a nonsense word made up for the movie Mary Poppins. It pretty much means fantastic and that is exactly what I left saying! Thank you Raw Hair Studio. I love my hair! :) more

Best in the business 8/31/2011

I have been having my hair cut, highlighted, and colored by Anna for over 5 years and believe that she is the most talented hair stylist I've had the pleasure to do my hair! She is more than a stylist, she is a friend. I love the new salon! The feel is relaxed and that is what I need when I come in. I am immediately at ease just being around Anna. I just commented to her last week that I never come in with an idea but leave feeling that my hair is perfect. I completely trust her to give me the most natural looking color and highlights. I love my hair! I love Anna! She also cuts my husband's hair after he retired from the military and now he has a very stylish haircut unlike the military buzz cuts! My two sons get their hair cut by Anna too and she works magic on them as well. Congrats on the new salon! You are the BEST and deserve the best! more

So amazing 8/30/2011

I rarely go and leave reviews, but this place is outstanding! It has a wonderful vibe that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. Everyone is very friendly and professional. I had my hair and nails done for a formal event by Ashley and was absolutely blown away by the results. My hair looked phenomenal. So pretty and lovely. It was exactly what I wanted. She took her time to do it well and did an amazing job. I got so many compliments at the event raving about my hair. It looked so beautiful and she is very talented. She also gave me a shellac manicure and I have never had one of those before. It is better than sliced bread. No chipping, etc. Days later it still looks perfect and flawless with no smudges and I am very hard on my nails. This is the best kept secret and very reasonably priced for such a great manicure option. Ashley did such a good job on everything and I am a regular customer for sure now! more

Anna is Amazing!!! 8/26/2011

I've only been going to Anna for about half a year now and not sure what I ever did without her. She cuts a friend's hair from work and he always has amazing haircuts. So decided to try something different and wen't to Anna and she does amazing work. If your a guy and not always happy with the cheat supercuts that your use to, try going to Raw. Once you get a haircut from Anna you'll never want to go back to the unpredictable cuts you get at supercuts. more

I won't go anywhere else 8/24/2011

Anna has been styling my hair for about 5 years now and I wouldn't consider going to anyone else. She's the best I've found! I like very natural looking blond highlights, and she always does them perfectly. I am stopped by people all the time asking if I get my hair highlighted or if it's natural. When I say I have highlights, they ask for Anna's number every time. :) She cuts my daughter's hair, too, and is great with kids. Give her a try - she'll feel like an instant friend and I guarantee you'll never need to look for another hairstylist. more

Anna makes me feel beautiful! 8/24/2011

Today was a most wonderful day! I always look forward to my appointments with Anna because she pampers me and makes me feel special by listening and giving me the best she has to offer in a friendly, positive way. Today, Anna masterfully colored my hair, gave me a deep conditioning treatment and a hand massage, waxed away my scruffy brows and made me feel absolutely beautiful. If that isn't enough, Anna cuts my boys' hair too! They each have a very different style and Anna is very attuned to their distinct personalities. She makes them feel comfortable which is sometimes tricky in an environment usually heavily biased toward women. The new salon is wonderfully charming and so beautiful but comfortable for men and women alike. The Aveda products that Anna is so comfortable using, are wonderful products that smell incredible but aren't too feminine. Anna is an artist and her gift is reflected in her style - both in the salon and personally - and in the way she treats her clients. I completely trust her. Every time I sit in her chair, I know, without a doubt, that I will get her undivided, professional attention and leave feeling good about myself. Beyond all those superlatives, Anna is easy to like. Give her a call. Make an appointment. Relax and let Anna make you feel beautiful. more

One in a million 8/24/2011

I started going to Anna about 7 years ago. At the time, I drove from Austin to SA just for her to cut and color my hair. I moved to California and went to more expensive, more exclusive hair salons and never found anyone that cut my hair like Anna. In the meantime, my mom and sister were going to Anna getting these great cuts! She has this amazing way of cutting hair that is then easy to style and care for on your own. I love that I can leave her place with a great cut and go home and recreate the look. She really listens to her clients and is honest. She has made me a blonde and made me a brunette. She has kept me from chopping off all my hair and given me the perfect mid length look when I thought it was hopeless. So now I am back in Texas and living in Fort Worth and yes I drive 5 hours to Anna for a cut and color. Her new place is intimate and super cute. It is what every woman wants when they go to a salon. It is a place where you feel special. Anna makes everyone feel special. In conclusion...I could look for something closer to me but when you have the best, you do not waste the time looking for anything else. more
