Editorial review from Citysearch 4/4/2013

I just left this care center, worst experience I've EVER encountered. My five-year-old has a itchy rash all over his body....including his face and the supposed ""doctor"" said like two words....this guy-Mr. Wright was totally clueless as to what my son had. He only tried to get me to pay more money for a strep test....just trying to hustle us out of another $19.00. He refused to prescribe my child antibiotics to clear up the obvious bacterial infection. I believe this is just a care center for pill seeking regulars. Do not waist your time and money; and ESPECIALLY your child's health with this crooked, nasty facility. more

Awful Experience 8/29/2011

This place is extremely outdated and I when I went there was very unclean. My experience was absolutely miserable. The admin staff were very distracted and when I walked in one of the nurses was in the lobby watching TV. I went in with suspected Mono and the response I got from the doctor was "Ok, then why are you here? You know its un-treatable right?" I had to reason with him just to get him to run a basic mono test. It was like pulling teeth just to get him to diagnose me. Yeah i know its untreatable but I'm also not a doctor and the least you can do is a basic diagnosis to see if its something else as well. He was the most unsympathetic, least passionate doctor I have ever encountered. He didn't offer a single bit of advice, not even the basics like "Drink fluids, don't exert yourself, get rest" nothing. At this point I was already extremely dissatisfied but to top it off they made a glaring, blatant mistake that completely violated HIPAA laws and violated another patients privacy to the point that I have already filed an official hipaa violation complaint with the Office for Civil Rights. They gave me paperwork for another patient that included their Social security number, home address, telephone number, date of birth, and treatment that they received at the clinic. They didn't even notice until I had to drive back there to return it and get my correct information. This is due to the complete and utter negligence and carelessness of the office staff. In summary the physician was the worst I've ever had, the office staff were unprofessional and extremely negligent and the clinic is old, outdated and clean. I highly recommend finding another minor emergency clinic. more

Worst Experience with Dr. Esparza 7/5/2010

This doctor needs to find a line of work that accomodates his complete lack of compassion for people. He announced under his breath that my bone was broken after I came in for a sprain. He had absolutely no advice for me and kept asking me what I wanted him to say...how about some health care advice?? It turns out the only advice he can give is to send me to a specialist. I am not insured and cannot afford a specialist. Especially now that this Dr.Esparza won't reccomend any time off of work so I cannot collect disability. How do I stay off a broken ankle when my job is walking and standing for 8 hours a day?!\r Worst experience ever in a medical office. I recommend you avoid Dr. Esparza if you have to visit this facility. Cons: Poor Quality Healthcare from Dr. Esparza more

bleak. 5/1/2010

I am an occasional migraine sufferer and I recently had one that Excedrin and a quiet bedroom wasn't going to get me through. I made the mistake of visiting Pro Med on South Lamar; unfortunately, Dr. Smolik was working. He was the rudest doctor that I've ever encountered. He was impatient and seemed to lack compassion. Perhaps, he feels that all migraine patients are drug seekers? However, I'm confused - I specifically asked for a medication that is not a narcotic. I guess I'll never figure out why this man was so short with me. I was in severe pain. Just a bit of empathy would have made a big difference. After initially saying that he would give me an injection of Imitrex, he apparently changed his mind and wrote a prescription for another drug at a dosage that, I later found out, most all pharmacies have to special order. I went back to Pro Med and asked for a new prescription at the common dosage (again - not a narcotic). The curt office staff informed me that the doctor never changes his prescriptions and they advised me to go to a pharmacy that wasn't next door. I had a migraine and I was close to vomiting on the desk - I wasn't really in any shape to be driving around. I guess, I was ""lucky"" because he did eventually change the dosage; however, when I went back to the pharmacy they informed me that my insurance wouldn't authorize the amount that he prescribed. Not his fault, but I certainly knew that there was no hope in going back to explain this to him. At this point, I knew it was hopeless. I spent the whole night in agony on the floor of my bathtub. I couldn't afford to go to an Emergency room; I could barely afford my visit to Pro Med! more

Do not go. 7/9/2009

If your feeling sick and need help do not go there. I had better service at wallgreens. This place is dirty, the people are insanly rude, and you will wait forever. I feel sorry for the people that go here and recomend not going there. more

The care was awful. 3/17/2009

Last year I received two Hepatitis B vaccine around 80$ per each. I have been told that the third one will be free of charge. Today I went to get my last vaccine and they charged me 77$. I have a witnesses who also heard that the last vaccine i receive for free. When I told that to the girl on the desk she got mad and was very rude. I called manager she wasn't help at all. more

Good walk-in clinic 8/11/2008

It's not fancy but if you are looking a good walk-in clinic, this is it. I arrived at this clinic at around 5:30 p.m. expecting to be there for a while. There were various types of people waiting to be seen. The staff greets you and informs you of the costs (if you don't have insurance) right up front. I filled out the paperwork (two pages) and was called back to visit with doctor. I've been to doctor's offices where I've had appointments and waited a lot longer than I did at this clinic. I was really impressed how quickly I got ""in and out"" and the professionalism of the staff. more

Great Little Clinic 4/12/2008

Let's get the cons out of the way: it's not clean or fancy and the clientele is usually poor and tend to be uninsured (it seems). It's not an east-side clinic, but it kind of feels like one.\r \r Pros: The medical services are completely professional and skilled, and if you need to walk-in somewhere and/or your regular doctor is not available (like on a weekend or after-hours), this IS ABSOLUTELY the place to go. \r \r They are very upfront about what things are going to cost if you don't have insurance or something won't be covered. There are never any surprise bills, their non-insurance costs (from what I've overheard when I've been there) sound entirely reasonable. Because they're a walk-in place, they're used to serious emergencies as well as simple coughs.\r \r Again, it's not clean, but they've got good doctors. Pros: Good Doctors, Short Waits, Walk-In Cons: Not really clean facility and socioeconomically-challenged clientele more

need more personnel 7/1/2007

I arrived 15 min. before they opened, to find a line of 8 people already standing at the door. Once inside, they were very friendly, but a bit frazzled. It took over 30 min. to get me to a room, then another 10 before the nurse came in to see why I was there, then another 35 until the doctor came in to see me, another 25 min. before the x-ray tech took me back, 15 more min before the doc read the x-rays, 10 min to find an air cast, and 10 min before they had my chart up front to charge me $210.\r \r They need another doc and a couple more nurses to run it efficiently. Pros: nice staff, when they see you Cons: wait time is horrendous more
