I have seen the large number of negative reviews for Planet Bike and I am shocked! Nothing can be further from the truth. To clarify, let me share my own experience: me and my boyfriend went to Planet Bike after going to every bike shop in San Antonio. We were looking to get ourselves a pair of trail bikes to ride in OP Schnaebal and Salado Creek! We were initially settled about getting some Treks, but Planet Bike blew that idea out of the water. They carried so many bikes, I could hardly know where to look first. Fortunately, the employees soon came to our help. We found ourselves some Cannondales that we just fell in love with, they had all the specifications we wanted and at a lower price than Trek. The owner himself even helped us out and he was very kind. I was told he was very busy with preparing with the 2013 bikes release and took time from talking to the various bike reps so he could help us personally. This is definitely the place to go if you are in need of bikes at great prices, amazing selection, and unbeatable service! Thank you Planet Bike, don't let these haters bring you down, you have my 100% support! more

I was looking for a new road bike, since all my friends enjoy the sport and I never could keep up with them on my old mountain bike. So, with various recommendations, I was told to go to Planet Bike. They had the best selection of bicycles I have ever seen. I had hardly been in the store five seconds, when I was already approached by a sales rep. These guys really do know their stuff, because every single question I asked was answered and they even asked me a few I didn't even consider. They had the best prices on their bicycles and amazing service. I went back home to research and everything they said was true, and I could not find a match for their prices. I gladly went back the next day, got myself a good road bike, was fitted, and taught everything about the bike. I recommend Planet Bike to everyone to get their bicycles, they are the best in San Antonio more

bad attitudes. 1/11/2012

I've had horrible experiences here in the past and have vowed in the past never to return, but the fact of the matter is that it is close, and sometimes its the most convenient place to pick up a tube or bar tape, or other randome part or accessory. Never again though. Today, I experienced my worst experience and I wll never be back to this store again. I purchased a bicycle online and installed it myself, except that I didn't fully adjust the brakes, since, as I mentioned before I have never gotten the hang of it. I also didn't install the crank arms because I couldn't find my hex set. I decided I'd swing by and see if I could pay to have these last remaining items done here. I arrived, left my bicycle on my car rack and walked inside to inquire as to whether they could perform these services for me. I was told by some younger gentleman that I could. When I brought my bicycle in the older gentleman was out and told me, contrary to what the younger person told me, that they couldn't do it that day, and that I would have to leave it. I agreed to that, which inexplicably seemed to annoy him. He then, hostilly, said he was gonna have to charge me a hundred dollars for the installation package. I assumed he meant because the crank arms needed installing. I asked, then, if I could just have the brakes adjusted, to which he said, ""just go home and do your job."" Immediately, I felt my blood boil, and I know I was justified since his hostility even seemed to shock the young employee and another customer that was in there browsing. Rather than start an argument with an unreasonable person, I decided my best bet was to just grab my bicycle and leave. This was about two hours ago. Since that time, I took my bicycle elsewhere and got everything I needed done. So yeah, be warned if you show up when the older guy is on his period, prepare to be treated horribly. more

Great bikes, decent prices, LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE 8/20/2011

Planet Bike has some great bikes at fairly decent prices. The only issues I've had have been with Carlos, the manager. I took my bike in for a warranty repair job for a broken derailleur hanger. The sales staff was courteous enough--at first; however, the manager questioned the damage--actually, he short of insinuated that I did something to cause the damage to the bike. Our discussion got very loud and heated. Despite my best attempt to explain to Carlos that the hanger, ""just simply broke,"" he continued to cross examine me as if I weren't being forthright. Carlos and PB employees relunctantly repaired the bike (albeit didn't complete the job--they left the plastic guard between the spokes and the cassette out of alignment). After the repair (yet to be determined if they did a quality repair), the counter manager (not sure of his name, but has tats and a shaved head), felt compelled to point out some abrasions on the damaged piece--as if he's some forensic expert. The abrasions were caused when the hanger broke and the derailleur rattled against the spokes and the body of the bike. Plain and simple, the bike's derailleur hanger broke causing the derailleur to rattle around the spokes and the bike's frame. For the manager and his staff to question my intent, integrity and veracity was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. I am not a vindictive person, but for what it's worth, I will never shop at any Planet Bike location nor will I have my bikes serviced at their locations. I would much rather pay a few extra dollar and deal with professionals than skimp on customer service. I will not recommend this place to any of my cycling friends, but will suggest they take their business to a more reputable dealer. p.s. I think some of the other reviews corraborate my thoughts and opinions. more

Best service, best prices FOR SURE 8/19/2011

I tried every single bike shop in San Antonio, they all know that I came in. I heard these ignorant people told me about Planet BIke so I went there. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted and saw the biggest inventory in my life of any bike shop. I was looking for something for myself and something for my son. Other places wanted me to buy what they wanted to sell me, not what I wanted. I asked many questions and showed me all the bikes that would suit our needs, even letting me and my son try them all! I don't know what other people are saying, but they have good prices, good service, and great inventory! I would recommend this place to anyone. more

Rude manager 3/21/2010

I went in asking for a bike chain at 4:30pm on a Sunday, and was rushed, tailed, not helped, and dissappointed. First off, they don't close till 6, and they acted like sauntered in at 5:59. The manager asked what I wanted, and when I told him a ""bike chain"", he acted like that kind sale was beneath him. After some guffing, he responded with ""What size?"", and I told him I didn't know and just needed a chain, since I have a chain tool and could size it myself. He said they only sold sized chains (hard to believe), and asked abruptly if there was a bike I was interested in. I said I'll just look around, and he seemed annoyed at that as well. I really think he hates customers. I shopped for a few minutes, with him closely hawking me, and was just flat out turned off. The other, younger sales staff seemed much more friendly and helpfull, but not this guy. I left knowing I'd never return, and that I'd never recommend it.? Pros: I'll never have to go back there again. Cons: Management more

Do not give your time or money to this store..... 2/4/2010

I brought in my recumbent bicycle to be tuned and to purchase a bike rack and a new mtn. bike for the summer season. After unloading this already cumbersome bike, the owner tells me in a very rude manner that he doesn't work on ""those"" bikes. I didn't realize that a bike shop would discriminate against other bikes....it's a road bike just longer. I would not recommend giving this establishment any business instead go somewhere else that respects your time and money. Pros: will be out of business at this rate.... Cons: customer service is lacking, owner is rude and inexperienced more

really great place to get your next bike 9/11/2009

The staff is great, the prices are very competative, and there is a lot to choose from. I did my homework before I went in but still had some questions. I did not feel pressured to purchase anything in particular, all my questions were answered (if they did not know, they were not afraid to ask) and was given class A treatment. The staff was friendly, knowldgeable about their merchandise and worked hard to make me happy. My next purchase will definitely be from this Planet Bike! Pros: Full price range of bikes, all about making you happy Cons: limited ""newest"" models more

Poor customer service 9/8/2009

Carols made me feel like my bike was a piece of junk. What kind of customer service is that? The employees care more about customer service than carlos the owner, that shows how bad he is. never going there again more
