Poo everywhere 4/16/2011

Filthy, stinky and unfit conditions for a dog. Used this place a few months ago while out of town and recommended by a friend bcause rates are low. Well I have never smelled such a horrid smell coming from my dog and when I washed him after brought home..the water was brown and filty, I washed him 3 times and his feet smelled of pee and stench for a couple weeks. There was smelly chicken poo all over their property and the dogs were running back and forth fence fighting and stepping in their own poo also. more

GREAT 2/22/2009

PJ loves animals and she is devoted to taking care of each and every animal as if it is her own. We have been using PJs Pet Service for almost three years now and we are very happy and secure in knowing that our dog will not only cared for, but loved. For all those pet lovers out there, give PJ a chance. You won't regret it! by Deborah more

HORRIBLE! 7/31/2008

I was shocked and appalled when we picked up our dogs and they were covered in their own feces, looked hungry and were obviously not well cared for. Nobody was there when we arrived and I went in the back to see them and there were farm animals walking around and the dog in the next kennel over peed on me through his cage. I would never ever ever leave my dogs here again. more

Just not a pleasant (or clean) place. 3/18/2008

My partner took our dog there the first time, said it was, "Fine. Cheap." The next time he dropped her off, and I picked her up...and I was horrified. Really. There was nobody around, it seemed abandoned. I walked myself to the back and saw the cages where the dogs were kept - they were dirty, with many piles of poop scattered around. Most dogs poop twice a day, maybe? Clearly it had been days since the poop was cleared. Many dogs were agitated, pacing back in forth in their cages, barking at nothing in particular. They just seemed uncomfortable. It was a depressing sight.\r Finally the woman appeared, I told her the name of my dog, she went into the pit and a moment later some random dog shot like a bullet out of it. Ran up the stairs to me, and jumped on me like we were friends. I'd never seen this dog before in my life. I hate to try to read a dog's mind, but the dog seemed eager to leave and didn't seem to care who with.\r There's really no place for the dogs to get exercise - no yar more

Great place for animals!! 1/3/2008

Good place for your dogs 11/19/2007

We have been taking our English Setters to PJ for several years now. It's like heaven for working/hunting dogs like ours because it is like a ranch, with lots of open space. The dogs seem to have good time watching all the birds, chickens, etc. running around. PJ is well-priced and close to Seattle proper. Why would anyone go to Atwood's? Our dogs don't need chintz pillows....We completely trust PJ with our beloved setters. more

Just what my dogs need 11/16/2007

I go here because my dogs are well cared for, kennels are clean, and the price is reasonable.\r \r It is not a bright, shiny, new facility - why would that be important? more

Just the best! 9/3/2007

We had not used PJ's services to several years and were thrilled to know that, first she was still there and second, she is still loving cats and dogs as usual. We have two dogs and three cats. Recently, we were selling our home and needed to board the pets during "market time". Not only have the animals been happy there, but they have been loved and well-cared for. We go for pet visitation at "puppy and kitty camp" and find every one of our animals happy and well-adjusted. Do not be put off by the fact that this does not look like the Westin Grand Hotel. Instead, it is a place for dogs and cats where the animals and their quirks are known and taken care of with love and respect. We are so grateful for this wonderful facility, their groomers, and caretakers. They are just the best! more

Always Reliable 8/20/2007

Perhaps things were different a year or so ago but we've boarded our Airedale quite often either on short or long visits. He never comes back with kennel cough, never comes back hoarse and doesn't seem to mind. Pat is an animal lover; to wit there's a parrot in the office and she has some sheep behind the kennels. The place is clean and the prices are very reasonable. I've recommended PJ's several times and everyone seems content. more

Filthy? Not when I've been there.... 6/5/2007

I'm not sure when the other reviewers were at PJ's but I have never found it to be filthy. With all the animals there I don't think I've ever even seen a fly! True, it's not a state-of-the-art kennel, but you can pay through the nose for those. PJ bought that kennel several years ago and I don't know how long the previous owner had it. PJ has always been very fair to me and has been very helpful in boarding rescues for me when I was short of foster homes. PJ is a great supporter of rescue and local shelters. She works incredibly hard to keep that business going. OK, it ain't the Hilton, but it's still what I would consider a very comfortable and safe place for my critters. more

PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR POOCH HERE! 4/22/2006

when we went to Hawaii for a week, I mistakenly called PJ's thinking it was the Hillrose Pet Ranch(formerly Atwood's) and made reservations for my dog. I had a friend drop him off at PJ's because our flight left at 4:00 a.m. When we returned a week later and I went to pick my dog up I realized I called the wrong place when I pulled up in front and it was not the Hillrose. Nobody was around at the pet ranch but I found me 8 month old Shi Tzu in a filthy cage of dog feces and empty water and food bowls. The cage had an open door to the outside coldness of the December weather. I was disgusted. I thought is this where my poor little dog had to stay for a whole week? I found a young girl and a woman(neither were friendly or had a personality) and just paid and left. I never said a word because I thought it was my own dumb mistake. But don't make the same mistake I did! There is very little care for the pets! more

Go to Atwood's 9/21/2005

Although Pjs will board more than just the typical fare (dogs/cats), I still wouldnt recommend them based on the following: they are filthy, dont seem to hold cleanliness or sanitation in high esteem, and look very run down. I went to check out a place for my dog to stay while we were out of town. I wanted to look before scheduling anything, and I am really glad I did. You would think they would try to do better than this, as there is a great place right around the corner and they should want to win over the competition. I guess they have no desire to gain customers. At any rate, go around the corner to Atwoods! more
