I've stayed twice, once in the newer part (two story building) and once in the old part (one story in back). The rooms in the newer part, are newer, spacious and clean. Your basic room for a basic rate. I was not satisfied with the old room, run down and small. Ask for a newer room. Good location for San Diego activies. Close to Old Town. In business/freeway area so don't expect to walk around. more

Family friendly hotel that's close to the trolley and well worth the price 7/18/2005

I read all the reviews for this hotel on tripadvisor.com and decided to try this out. It didn't look impressive considering the surrounding buildings, but looks can be deceiving. The friendly and accommodating staff, generous continental breakfast (that includes Belgian waffles, fruits, cereals), location, and price more than make up for appearances. Located minutes from the Old Town Transit Center and a few minutes from Old Town State Park, this hotel proved to be a convenient and central location. We caught the trolley to Mission San Diego and downtown. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and if you reserve a room with a mini kitchen, they even provide all the pots, pans, and dishes! Very pleasant and will come again! more
