The San Diego Museum of Art is one of the lovely museums in Balboa Park. It is not a large museum, but the admission is decent (about $10 for adults and about $7-8 for students). They have an extensive collection of art from around the world including Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Even the structure of their building is art; the architecture is beautiful.

For my birthday, I got surprised with a membership to the Reuben Fleet Science Center. Deep down, I am a huge science geek, and I love seeing the exhibits and special programs that science centers usually have.
Unfortunately, the Reuben Fleet Science Center, does not have many rotating exhibits and if they do, they are a very small portion of the actual space (the Einstein one was in one small area near the IMAX line and consisted of a few signs that gave a timeline of Einstein's life and career -- hardly scintillating). They do have a good show called "the stars at night" which shows constellations and afterwards, the local astronomy society has telescopes outside for you to peek at the sky.
Otherwise the exhibits are the typical ones you see at most every science centers. Several exhibits were closed because they were broken, and they don't seem to get fixed very quickly. It makes me sad because I think maybe the science center is underfunded and/or underutilized.
The Science Center is apparently wired for free wifi, although I've never successfully gotten it to work.
They do have several IMAX movies showing, so you do have a choice, although they don't change them very often. They do change a special featured one on a weekly basis for Friday nights though.

I have visited this mission a few times, and I always notice something new each time. I have never attended a service, however parking is very hard to come by, especially if you do not get there early. They offer multiple services on Sundays. Its odd to see a mission in such a busy area in Mission Valley, but its still nice to have a little piece of history in the middle of the city.

This is your typical surf shop, except that it isn't on the beach. That makes it a little bit easier to get to since beach parking can be terrible during the summer. I liked their selection of bathing suits and also their Roxy clothes. For guys they have nice shirts from Billabong that you can wear out at night. It is also a good place to shop for a wetsuit.

Child Abuse Prevention Foundation is a great resource to any parent. They can provide free materials on Child Abuse and how to detect if your child is being abused. Abuse can happen not just from your spouse but from older teenagers in the house as well. They also have Family Counselors for very small prices , they also will do it for free if you can prove you do not get enough money to pay for it.
Child Abuse Prevention Foundation is a great resource. But only use it if you really need it.

Childrens Preschool And Learning Center is a nice little Preschool. They are quite out of my range but I got a couple of months free because I know one of the workers. It was an amazing little preschool as I said. They have lots of play so it isn't like one of those snobby preschools. It was very well balanced in learning and playing. My child came home wanting to be more social. I think she was a little scared of being accepted.
A great school. But again , pricey.
