Situated high on a sandstone bluff overlooking the turquoise waters of La Jolla Cove, patrons are introduced to a beautiful sun set as they sit and enjoy their dinner.
While some restaurants give in to the temptation to follow trends, and sometimes end up paying a dear price for such indulgence, Crab Catcher has managed to flawlessly maintain their reputation for consistently providing guests with innovative, brilliantly achieved cuisine for many years.
It certainly comes as no surprise that this is one local restaurant where it is practically impossible to find an empty table on any given night of the week.

Teaching young people the skills they need to succeed in life is a challenging undertaking. But it is one that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad accepts with great enthusiasm. In fact, the Club slogan is 'The Positive Pace For Kids' and you can feel the energy on a daily basis.
Every day, over 200 youths take advantage of the programs and services offered at the Carlsbad and La Costa facilities - whether after school, during vacations, or during summer break. From sports to swimming, to studying and surfing the Internet, youngsters seek out the Boys & Girls Clubs because they are special places just for them. Keeping the organization viable takes a staff with good people skills, the tireless dedication of its volunteers, and some big ideas.

The name says it all. Guys say they go there to study and for the good food but if you've ever seen the waitresses you know this is just an excuse. Beautiful people with nice assets fill the establishment. The majority of patrons are guys and it seems to be busy most any night.
Parking can be a bit difficult and it's in a congested part of town. Try it out if you want to experience this place once.

Owned by the Pala band of Mission Indians, this casino and resort has been operating nonstop since opening in April 2001. In August 2003, Pala debuted a 450,000-square-foot resort and spa.
Pala is a Vegas-style destination in San Diego's North County. The resort offers not only gambling but eight restaurants, outdoor concerts, resort and spa. Very luxurious.

Pechanga’s wide open, Vegas-style gaming area, adjoining the hotel tower, is a 188,000 square foot casino floor with 2,000 of the latest and most popular slot machines. Rumor has it that the Pechanga casino floor, after the recent expansion, is actually larger than the MGM Grand casino in Las Vegas. I wouldn’t bet against that statement, and it certainly justifies Pechanga’s claim as the largest casino on the West Coast.
Pechanga Resort & Casino deserves its claim as the best and largest casino and resort in California, if not the West Coast.

Featuring a rustic, ranch exterior (replete with a creek, water wheel feature, a and a grain silo), the casino's interior is a lively contrast to the relaxing hotel: ringing slot machines, bustling tables and lots of action. Unlike the segmented floors at Viejas and Sycuan, Barona's 310,000 square-foot casino floor is wide open and more Vegas-like. Now, I'm the first to admit I'm not much of a gambler, but I had much fun trying my hand at the wide range of slots. I also found an electronic roulette (my favorite) machine to bide my time (like the other Indian casinos, due to state law, Barona offers a table variation of Vegas roulette.
Of course, whether you're at an Indian casino or in Las Vegas, a staple of any venue is the buffet. Never a big buffet person - the food always seems a bit hit-and-miss - I have to say Barona's Ranch House Buffet is one of the best buffets I've experienced.

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is a thoroughbred racetrack in in the seaside city of Del Mar, California, and approximately 20 miles north of San Diego. It is known for the slogan, "Where The Turf Meets The Surf." It was built by a partnership including Bing Crosby, the actor Pat O'Brien, and Jimmy Durante.
The track races from July to September and draws heavy crowds, especially on opening day. It's definitely the best racing venue in town.

Eye-popping colors on the outside and some glitzy stuff inside make up this East County casino, which opened in 1983.
Sycuan boasts the largest non-smoking slot room in San Diego – the Kumeyaay Area. Owned by the Sycuan band of Kumeyaay Indians, Sycuan's casino features more than 2,000 slot, video poker, video bingo and video blackjack machines and 60 gaming tables. It also offers large live concert venues.
Gambling isn't the only game at Sycuan. There's also golf at the resort's Singing Hills Country Club. A nice golf course to check out.

One of San Diego County’s newest gaming venues, Golden Acorn Casino, is located one hour east of downtown San Diego, right off Interstate 8 at the Crestwood exit. The drive takes you from an urban atmosphere to a panorama of beautiful valleys and majestic mountains. The scenery is definitely a plus to your trip but the drive is quite long.
The parking is huge and I don't think I've ever seen it full. Walking in, you usually don't find many patrons. They do offer a restaurant, but typical of what you find in Vegas, the restaurant is not inexpensive. It's the same price as any restaurant and no good deals to be found.
