This is a 100% ethnic store, they really only target their Polish customers. If you're not Polish then prepare yourself for a bit of a culture shock, but never complain. If you do...

This Polish owned and operated store has an OK deli(always swarmmed), produce section (fair) and general grocerys(decent). This place could be a little cleaner and the prices are ...

Don't go in 9/7/2015

This is not a very clean place for a food market....and the staff is so rude...they forgot they are living outside their country and not everybody speaks whatever language they would speak....I think the quality of the cooked food is very low and maybe a sanitation inspection wouldn't hurt. more

Delicious Food 3/26/2012

I go especially for the deli, the ladies there never complain about shaving the deli meat and they use deli paper to separate my cheese so it doesn't stick together. The gals in the deli are hard working woman. If you get a chance try the fresh made soups, they are made from scratch and the mushroom soup is to die for. Also the Racine rye bread is delish. I am so glad they are in my neighborhood and I even have family members who travel over from Roscoe Village and Oak Park Il. They also have ample parking more

Be nice 3/6/2010

People in this store need to remember when they walk out of it, they are in CHICAGO! Chicago is an English speaking city in Illinois which is in the USA. I am from Chicago and found the people here very rude. They should accomodate ALL people of Chicago--not just non English speaking immigrants. more

Ethnic Store 12/29/2007

This is a 100% ethnic store, they really only target their Polish customers. If you're not Polish then prepare yourself for a bit of a culture shock, but never complain. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. This is not a one size fits all store. If you're Polish, you will be delighted. There is no better selection or better prices anywhere else in Chicago. You won't mind the crowded store. There is a good selection of made in Poland groceries, and that's worth a trip from miles around. The people who work there are not unfriendly, in fact they are extremely friendly. Unfortunately they, in general, do not speak English. So if you don't speak Polish, then you can't communicate, and some people may take it as being rude. My advice is, adjust your expectations. This is like visiting a foreign country. If you don't like it, don't come here. But if you show respect and make an effort to adjust, you will be rewarded with the best quality Polish groceries you can buy in Chicago. more

Pat, the invisible woman, part two 5/18/2006

Okay, here we go again. Another case of "they love their own" and barely tolerate anyone else. If you want to be treated by a joy filled person that makes you feel wanted and appreciated...then you may want to skip this place. I personally think some of the items are very good (like the Krakus sliced ham and the cheese blintzes) but other than that, I am not impressed. They do need a good wash down, and their employees need some attitude adjustments, that's for sure. more

OK Market 5/17/2006

This Polish owned and operated store has an OK deli(always swarmmed), produce section (fair) and general grocerys(decent). This place could be a little cleaner and the prices are a tad too high on the general grocery items like canned goods, dishsoaps etc... The employees are OK, they are much friendlier if you speak Polish. I stop in sometimes after I drop off clothes at the cleaners next door for some produce. It would not hurt if they were a little bit friendlier to everyone not just their own. Get what you need and scram. more

Polish and Proud 7/30/2005

This local deli, like most others, has a fantastic selection of meats that somehow goes beyond any other location. They have great deals and local friends and family always go there for their special varieties of home, but they always joke how they should be taking a translator with them. It's really not that bad - the point method works like a charm and the girls here are always willing to help. I would highly recommend this butcher over your typical chain supermarket. more
