Best

Food came very fast and it was extremely tasty!

Worst

I used to like this place, but lately it has gone downhill. The service is poor and a lot of the recipes for the food have changed.

Not recommended 2/17/2009

Long wait. Bad service. Mediocre food. Not going back. Don't recommend it. They do have a small parking lot, which is a plus for places on the drag. more

A very bad experience 2/15/2009

I would suggest staying away from this place. I waited 45 minutes for a slice of pizza during a slow lunch day. The slice was obviously sitting out all day and so I have no idea why it took so long. That's actually not true, it took so long because the staff here are lazy, unfriendly, and incompetent. I would avoid this place like the black plague. Pros: Nothing great about this place Cons: Lazy staff and takes forever to get food more

good food bad service 2/7/2009

The food is great. You can never go wrong with their gyros and pizza. I gave it 3 stars because I usually have to deal with rude staff when I am there. more

Not good for groups, rude owner 1/31/2009

This is my fourth year at UT and I have yet to try Miltos. About 10 of use made tried to make reservations, but were told it wasn't necessary. When we got there, the place had other campus organizations meeting for the start of the semester. We waited about 20 minutes because the staff didn't want to put a few tables together for us despite there being plenty of empty tables and chairs. The food also took forever. We basically had no service. The actual food was ok, nothing great. The T sauce was good in the Gyro, but the rest of the meal seemed bland. more

Nothing special 1/28/2009

Miltos serves a variety of Greek and Italian food. The place looks a little run down and the service was, as others suggest, rather poor to non-existent. The food was ok, but nothing special. I had the house salad which seemed to have some old veggies. Next, I had a Gyro that was anything but spectacular. The sauce was the normal with some feta and greens. A little pricey for what I got. more

Dry food, old food makes for a poor combination 1/24/2009

Went because some of the reviews suggest this might be a decent place. Don't believe these reviews. First, the salad I had was mostly old leaves and little feta and olives on the a Greek salad. The stoned, lazy, and unfriendly girl at the counter would not add more. I basically had to serve myself for everything during my visit. The Stromboli was very dry because there wasn't any sauce. My fork and glass were crusty with old food on them and it was a big big hassle for the employees to exchange them. I 'll go to Mandoloas or Niki's before I ever try this place again. Pros: in the drag Cons: dirty dishes, lazy employees, old food, poor parking, more

Terrible, Terrible, Service brings down a mediocre Greek/Italian Joint 1/22/2009

I am an expert in Greek food. And for those of you seeking delicious Greek or Italian food I would advise you to spend your money elsewhere. There is a good selection of items and this seems like a nice mom and pop establishment. That said, the customer service here is terrible. From the girl working behind the counter taking your order to the cook that doesn't care for consistency in food preparation, Miltos is hands down one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Several of our dishes did not have adequate sauces, toppings were barely visible (evidence of skimping), and we had to basically serve ourselves each time we wanted a drink refill, silverware, or a side item. The lady who claims to be the manager did nothing to take care of any of the problems we had with our food and even argued with us about how WE have had the same dishes prepared on previous visits. I won't return and neither will anybody else from my dinner party. Pros: Good location Cons: Terrible customer service, less than average food, lazy employees, inconsistent food more

Do not give them your business 1/17/2009

Miltos is well-known to discriminate against African Americans and has poor customer service. They serve Greek and Italian food, but are not consistent in making it with the same ingredients. They will argue with customers rather than try to solve their problems. The last time I was in there I saw a dead raoch on the pizza cutting counter. The kitchen is dirty and I've seen staff not wash their hands after using the restroom. You basically have to serve yourself when you dine it. The food is overpriced and the atmosphere is bland. Pros: campus area Cons: customer service, cleanliness more

New Owners 1/17/2009

Miltos is a good restaurant but the new owners need to stick to the same recipes and produce from before. The olives in the salad tasted like they came from the bottom of a jar. The tomatoes were probably on the verge of being thrown out. The food had a lot more salt than it used to. I used to order the kids spaghetti and a side salad for $6.50 which filled you up and was a great deal, the new owners however are enforcing the age limit for ordering the kids portion. So now you get a LOT of pasta but it comes at a hefty price (im a poor student) around $6.50, not including a salad (side is $3 and some change). If you go here id probably stick to ordering pizza which is really good. Pros: Great location, good atmosphere Cons: parking, too much salt in food, service could improve more

Worst customer service 1/17/2009

The main problem with this place is the staff is very unfriendly and inattentive to customer needs. I recently phoned in an order and was told I could only get a pepperoni calzone with spinach although I've had just pepperoni in the past. On another visit the cook put dill all over the alfredo sauce which is disgusting. I complained and was told it is always in the sauce even though I've been eating there for four years and never had dill in it before. The women answering the phone argued with me rather than treating me like a paying customer. I will never do business with this place again. There are much better places to go in the drag area of Austin that have good customer service. They also skimp on the sauces and toppings on their dishes to save money. For instance, the calzones have very little cheese and stuff inside them. Pros: good location, convienent Cons: worst customer service, little parking, more

Quaint, cheap, and delicious! 7/25/2008

I really enjoy Miltos. This place is great for a fulfilling, informal lunch with friends and family. The menu is packed with a variety of great Mediterranean dishes from gyros to pizza to greek salads. I have always found the service to be good, not always the quickest, but good. The bread that comes with their salads is just mouth-wateringly delicious as is the pizza dough. I would highly reccomend this joint to students, couples and even out-of-towners in the area. Pros: Excellent food for cheap Cons: Service is slow at times. more

Consumer Beware! 5/13/2008

Food is average... service is so slow... i waited 30 minutes for a slice of pizza. When my name was finally called, the slice was super cold. I went on a slower day and got even a bigger surprise. My salad took 10 minutes to come out this time and the pasta I ordered was missing olives. I decided to not question them about their mistake. Who knows how long it would take to fix it. But as I came back to refill my tea, I noticed a dead animal on the floor in the kitchen. It seemed that a worker scrubbing the floor, uncovered this gross thing. Walking back to the table I felt sick to my stomach. So I left in a hurry and haven't been back. So consumer beware, their kitchen is unclean and service terrible. Pros: Parking is good, Ambience is good. Cons: Slow service, unclean restaurant more

Mmmmmm. Gyros and Greek Salad 3/31/2008

I always get the same thing. When I was pregnanty with my daughter, I would sometimes go three times in a week, if you see what I am saying. My husband used to work there when he was young, and he will still eat there. He likes the pizza and artichoke heart dip, too. Pros: Delicious, yummy ingrediants. Been going there for years. Cons: Always someone different working. I think high turnover rate. College students? more

Food Aside- Spend your money elsewhere! 9/24/2007

An insider from the kitchen at Milto's witnessed the owner of this establishment tell an African-American who came in for a job interview that ""their kind"" was not welcome there. Five employees quit promptly after witnessing this. Patrons from all over Austin are boycotting Milto's and in effort to promote tolerance, recommend that you do the same! Good food aside, don't support racism. Spend your money elsewhere, there are many other Mediterranean restaurants in Austin. more

Great Greek Food! 12/14/2006

Milto's is a great place to go for Greek specialties like souvlaki, spankopita, and Greek salad. Coming from a place where Greek diners abound, I can tell you that this place is definitely at or above par compared to Greek places in cities where there is actual culinary diversity. The only downside is that the seating situation can get bad when it's busy. Pros: Great Greek food, value, close-in Cons: Crowded, loud, seating situation not so great more

if you must 11/18/2006

this place is really just abovve average. the only good thing here is the pizza. try the spinach and artichoke. my boyfriend hates it and thinks everything is too sour. they really go overboard with the olives and feta and lemon. Pros: pizza Cons: everything else more

Delivery! and extensive menu. 6/24/2006

Milto's has a hearty menu. From said document, the SOUVLAKI stands out (think of a Greek fajita). Patrons can elect their pizza to have a wheat crust, as well as to be of a various style, such as ALFREDO. Delivery is a treat for those living nearby...especially UT students. Sometimes you crave some good quality Fettucini Alfredo with Olives during finals week...Milto's understands. Pros: Not just limited to Italian, but includes Mediterranean fare. more

Best Gyros EVER! 6/9/2006

I haven't really been here but maybe 4 or 5 times but each time, I've ordered the Souvlaki which is pieces of perfectly seared sirloin with their tzatziki sauce topped with fresh chopped tomatoes and onions. I don't know what that person was complaining about, they have awesome music and the times I've been there, it's varied from classical to cool tunes from Zero 7. Obviously, the music is going to change as the people who work there vary from college students to older individuals. \r \r It's really a small restaurant and kind of tucked away but definitely worth the trip. The food is big enough to comfortably fill you up but not inconvenient enough to have to ask for to-go boxes so they can sit and wilt in your fridge. \r \r Just right! Pros: Cheap, close to campus, fresh ingredients Cons: Small restaurant, crowded, parking more

still the best 7/5/2004

We love the food here. The Greek Salad is the best in town. However, this restaurant is getting less and less charming with each visit. Why did they get rid of the classical music and replace it with whatever they replaced it with? And why did they tear out the christmas lights in the side room and not replace them? They provided such nice soft lighting. Please fix these things. Thanks! Pros: greek salad, spaghetti Cons: , new music choices more

Classic 8/18/2003

Been going to miltos for a good 10 years. Love this place, although at times it is far too crowded and the time to get your food can be lengthy. Thier sicilian pizza is the best in austin, and thier gyros are second best. I love thier tchaziki sauce, however it is spelled. Pros: Great food Cons: busy more
