I think it can be said that when things go wrong is when you see people's true character. I had been a client of the esthetician and a stylist there for about 4 years. A week before my wedding, I went in for a brow wax and lash tint. She got the lash tint in my eyes, which ultimately sent me to the emergency room with my eyes swollen nearly completely shut . When the irritation in my eyes didn't get better, I went to an eye specialist who said that I had chemical burns in my eyes. After some expensive drops, the severe redness and swelling receded and I was able to put my contact lenses in about 12 hours before my wedding. This was after a week of pain, anxiety and inconvenience. more

Jonny K has been cutting my hair for over a year and I knew him from a previous salon. He's a positive guy that is open and intuitive, and we have great conversations about life, art and music. Jonny K has been cutting and coloring my hair since 2001, both very short and medium-length styles, and he is terrific. I get so many compliments on my cut and color every time. When he and Steph opened the new salon I followed him there, and I am thrilled every time I get to go see Jonny! Pros: Carries great products, great service more

Gifted Artist Wields Magical Scissors 5/1/2009

Jonny K at Salon Mezzanine is the rock star of hair. He has been handling my locks for years, and I have had only fabulous experiences in his chair. Mind you, I have the highest of high expectations and a penchant for bright colors and daring styles. When I sit down in his chair and we discuss the newest 'new me' (pinks, oranges, platinum, blues, red, yellow.....) all I need say is, ""Take it away, Jonny"" and relax for a couple of hours. started getting my hair cut/colored by jonny k a few years ago and have never looked back! he's the first stylist i've had who really gets color - most seemed nervous to go all out platinum blond, but jonny k is totally confident and i always get the exact shade i'm looking for (and i have difficult, super-processed hair). i always get compliments on my color/cut after a trip to mezzanine, and i recommend jonny k to friends/family/strangers every chance i get! Pros: exceptional color skills - not afraid of platinum blond! Cons: figuring out how to break up w/ your last stylist more

I have been going to Jonny K for gosh probably 9 or 10 years. It all started one day when I was having a really bad hair day, I called the salon he was working in at the time because I needed a haircut right then. I said I could be there in 10 and the receptionist gave me to jonny. I showed up with picture in hand to a stylist i had never met before and he went to work doing exactly what I wanted. Since then I have changed my hair and my color many times..but never my stylist!! And now about 10 of my friends see Jonny K as well because he has done such great work with me. Love Love Love him and the new salon, I'm very glad he and Steph have struck out on their own and created such a great space and business. Pros: does exactly what I want even when I don't know what that is more

Mezzanine rocks 4/23/2009

I was so excited to hear that Jonny K and Stephanie were opening their own salon and rightly so. They attract talented stylists, have a beautiful place, promote local artists, carry quality products, and are good people! I have been getting my haircut from Jonny for longer that I can remember and his cuts always look great that day, two days, later, and two weeks later. He is the only person that has ever done exactly what I asked when getting my haricut. He is not afraid to chop but can also be precise and conservative too! Jonny K - great with color 4/23/2009

So most chicks lament when their hair stylist moves. It's always this big ordeal trying to find someone that can handle one's BANGING MANE. Liz and I were just gabbing about her new mane. I think it's ultra-cute, and wish I had a pic of it. We both get our hair done by Jonny K, and I was mentioning how happy I was about Jonny's move to my neck of the non-woods. Jonny and Stephanie Kelson opened their rad space on Franklin Ave at the Mezzanine Salon. Pros: Works with long hair, great color Cons: I can't get my nails done while my color processes more

I totally trust JonnyK to give me a haircut that will look good with my bone structure, be easy to manage, and be easy to dress-up or wash-n-go. I never worry that he will give me a cut that I don't like. Pros: trustworthy - fun - pays attention Cons: a little pricey but worth it more

I moved to Minneapolis a year and a half ago. I was accustomed to getting my hair cut every two weeks. I found Jonny and Mezzanine Salon and haven't been disappointed yet. Also, I no longer need to get my hair cut nearly as often. His cuts hold up even as my hair grows out. Pros: skilled stylist, modern cuts, efficient & affordable more
