Best

We ate at McCormick & Smicks Harborside tonight and though we've lived in Portland for many years it was our first time. We took our two children (2 and 10) and it was a GREAT ex...

It's not a restaurant that I would have ever chosen because I don't like high priced restaurants, but I got a gift certificate from my boss so I took my mother for her birthday. ...

Greatest Bar Serivce in PDX! 2/10/2003

This review is based entirely on the bar, which never fails to be fun and friendly. The bar staff all rocks~ each worker (bartenders & backers) is great and worth knowing! One highlight at the bar is Jerrad, the head bartender, whose infuses the place with energy and humor...taking what could be a stuffy environment and turning it into a fast-moving, entertaining, bottle spinning, glass catching, song naming experience! Since day one they have all made an effort to remember me and my friends names and drinks--and where else downtown can you always find yourself in the company of a Cliff and Norm? This is definitely a bar where ""everybody knows your name""-- but spiked up and hipper. Usually a friendly crowd, and when it is not, the bartenders step up to the plate and make you feel right at home! Pros: Jerrad, BAR!, Decent selection Cons: Early last call more

GREAT HAPPY HOUR 1/5/2003

This place has a spectacular happy hour. Great selection of bargain-basement appetizer specials (try the mussels!). My kind of crowd (young, hip, professionals). And kind, friendly, and attentive service. Being on the waterfront was also a huge plus. Definately no complaints here. more

Parmesan crusted fish 11/14/2002

Their signature parmesan crusted fish entree is quite delicious, but a bit pricey. The beer cheese soup is wonderful, and the fruit dessert with crème anglaise is excellent. The Happy hour menu could use a facelift. If you don't order anything more than a drink, some servers seem to take offense. Want to watch the players in the meat market pen, just visit on a Friday or Saturday night. Pros: seafood Cons: drinks, slow bartenders more

Waterfront debacle! 10/5/2002

Ok - good atmosphere - but that's where the pleasantness ends. The food and service were horrendous for the money. The Talapia was less than extraordinary - the average home chef could have done better. The nearly un-cooked string beans didn't have their pointy tips cut off. The Uncle Ben's-like mashed potatoes were served luke warm and dry. The steamed Mussels were tasty, but were served with as much finesse as a beach cookout. They were served alone in a soup bowl without a side or even melted butter. As for the service - We waited 45 minutes for our meal, in the dark, (our candle went out and no one seemed to notice) and watched (drink less and breadless) as tables around us were served their food. The waitress was also just generally rude and in-attentive. Overall, this meal sucked, and we paid almost $60 dollars for it! Cons: bad parking, terrible service more
