Always great service and prices! 11/19/2006

I've been buying from the Magnolia Hi-Fi chain for over ten years. I don't buy expensive electronics (TVs, receivers, DVD, speakers, etc) elsewhere. The reason why is, I bought an expensive receiver from their Beaverton (Oregon) store a long time ago, and then suddenly moved. After the move, my receiver didn't work. I called the Bellevue store up, they looked me up and told me to bring it down. I did, they tried to turn it on, and simply handed me a new one they'd put behind the front desk for me. Five minutes of them tapping serial numbers into the computer and I was done. I go back regularly, and have tried the other stores, but Bellevue, and especially Duane, keeps me coming back. He's been there forever and has a very loyal "clientele". The reasons are that he'll ask you the relevent questions, even suggest you draw up your room, and make suggestions and tell you why. He'll talk you OUT of spending more than you need to, even if you were planning to. And if you ask him to give you a discount, he will - a "prestige sale" or something like that. It can be a pretty decent discount, just for working with him. Which means, of course, that next time you go back to him again, so I'm sure it works out for everyone. Even though Magnolia is "owned" by Best Buy, I've had lousy experiences (and hard return issues) at Best Buy. I have only positive experiences at the Bellevue Magnolia. more

Good service, quality installs 7/7/2006

I went to this particular Magnolia, after reading about another Magnolia AV on Judy's. The store itself is very nice, with great service and knowledgeable staff. I installed a car stereo and alarm. Afterward I bought a couple of gift certificates for the guys that helped me (Eddie - car stereo, and Joe - install). Their gear is high end, but if you want quality, this is the place to go. more

Magnolia Hi Fi is very good 6/20/2006

It's expensive...but they are very good. And they do install cars too. They have a location on Roosevelt in Seattle. more

Good for High-End Electronics 9/22/2005

Magnolia Hi-Fi is a place for true audio and video connoisseurs. Not everyone can tell the difference between music played through $50 speakers vs. a $5000 speaker system. However, if you can tell the difference and you're willing to pay for quality then Magnolia Hi-Fi is a great place. The staff is very knowledgeable and does a good job matching buyers to equipment. more

Excellent service 3/15/2005

Twice in the last year I've gone into this place to get a CD player put into each of our cars. My husband and I are not big consumers in the audio/electronics field and are usually decades behind the rest of the world. But the reason I went to Magnolia Hi Fi was because over twelve years ago I bought a boom box there. I had specific needs and I remember that there was no pressure to buy more than I needed. They gave me honest feedback and recommendation for my needs. This Panasonic boombox keeps on tickin' and has been in some of the roughest conditions. So, of course, when I finally came into the 21st century to put a CD player in my car, I went back to this place. I like the vibe -kind of elegant, low key & no pressure, but well informed. Sure enough, I got a fellow in the mobile audio section by the name of Paix (pronounced Pax - means peace, I think). He had great customer skills and never tried to oversell, but knew the products well. Because of his friendly service, I came back six months later to put a CD player in our other car. Paix was there again. I didn't recognize him, but he recognized me. That's good service, too. I had the feeling that he really was on the lookout for the best deal that would suit me. It works to treat the customer well, I'm telling you. I prefer this to cheap superstores with the deal-of-the-day kind of hustle. I will return. more
