Best

The food is great. I am on my android. But it is so good that I had to stop and let u know.

Worst

Mediocre food, indifferent service; that sums up this restaurant. Because it is walking distance from my home, I keep trying to make it work - but botched orders, mysteriously lon...

goooooood! 11/15/2010

Just had breakfast there and their smoked trout was goooooood! I've been there a lot of times and have always been pretty satisfied with their food. Once they had a special that was a gummy bear pancake. Being gummy bear addict I had to try it and to my surprise the semi-melted, semi-sour semi-sweet gummy bears fit perfectly with the pancakes! I have not tried their ice cream though, and that's definitely on the to-order next time! more

They have everything! 11/11/2010

Every breakfasty thing you could possibly want is on the menu, including lots of vegetarian stuff (the Florentine Benny is next on my hit list). I knew I had come across a friend when I saw the Shake and Eggs: okay, these guys get it. Hell yes, I want a shake with my breakfast. And this is a shake, folks, just like Mrs Mia Wallace got. more

"Look - they have Smoked Trout!" 11/9/2010

I have been fascinated by the "Smoked Trout & Eggs" on their sign for years. Finally we went for breakfast yesterday, and Mr Betsey S was amazed when I didn't actually want to order it. I think I just like saying "Look - they have Smoked Trout!" whenever I pass Mae's. more

good service 11/4/2010

I read the other reviews, and I have to say that people who visit a place once and slam it or people who say "I haven't been here in two years..." and then write a review should NOT be Yelping. It does not help the readers of Yelp to get a review on one dish or an out of date experience. Plus, it makes for a totally unrealistic score on a place. Hence, the 2 1/2 stars for a place with a great menu, generally good service, comfortable and quirky digs, and yummy eats that don't break the bank. more

I love Mae's. 10/26/2010

Unlike some other reviewers, I've tried many a dish, been many a time and most recently dined here this afternoon. I love Mae's. I probably wouldn't come as often if I didn't live so close because I hate driving somewhere only to have to endure a wait. Thank goodness for being able to hoof it. more

How can you not love chocolate chips, pecans, caramel sauce and whipped cream 10/12/2010

We're old school regulars to Mae's, so it was a surprise when they started adding weekend specials. I can't resist novelty - so last week I had the 'ooh-y gooh-y' (or something like that) French Toast. Now they've had the rare and delicious Cinnamon Roll French Toast for years (our 10 year old's go-to order) but this new special is made with Croissants. !!! Who knew? It works though - esp. with the fresh strawberry jam (and whipped cream). Now they've got 2 new twists. I couldn't bring myself to order the pancake with worms (I'm not a big gummy bears/worms fan) but the Turtle Pancakes - WOW!. How can you not love chocolate chips, pecans, caramel sauce and whipped cream all on or in the pancake? more

I always leave full and happy 9/29/2010

The menu is amazing. Where else can you get a real ice cream soda fountain milkshake and eggs as a meal option? They have soy for my coffee, veggie sausage, crispy bacon, smoked trout, hasbrowns, grits, eggs Benedict, chorizo, smoothies, oatmeal, pancakes, Belgian waffles....The list goes on. Their cinnamon rolls are delectable, but also about 1000 calories each so I try to ignore them flirting with me from the menu. I always leave full and happy more

The food came out quickly and was filling 8/30/2010

I got the pancake sandwich when we went to Mae's Cafe, which isn't a real sandwich (even says so on the menu), but it was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and your choice of a breakfast meat. I picked turkey link sausage. I was eyeing the milk shakes though. The hub got the Popeye omelet. The food came out quickly and was filling. more

Mae's serves the absolutely BEST, bar none, breakfast/brunch! 8/27/2010

We've brunched in Paris, Amsterdam and Tel Aviv, New Orleans, New York and San Francisco. After two straight weeks of eating in every recommended diner in Oregon, it's official: Mae's serves the absolutely BEST, bar none, breakfast/brunch! Your HUGE fans, Elle, Julia & Aliya more

It was real good. The breading was crispy and the meat was good and tender 8/25/2010

I went here with my wife and cousin for a late breakfast. I really ordered the chicken fried steak. It was real good. The breading was crispy and the meat was good and tender. This was mine and my wifes first time there. The service was great, the waiter was always around when we needed him. more

The pancakes were great 8/23/2010

The pancakes were great -- tons of plump blueberries and lots of banana and the addition of the real maple syrup was a solid choice. We were both very happy with our food and saw a number of other new and old items on the menu that we'd like to try more

Huge portions 8/19/2010

Great breakfasts. Huge portions. Great for kids--fun cow paraphernalia. Waitstaff can be slow at times. more

Absolutely love what they have done with the ladies room decor! 8/16/2010

This is based on breakfast- food is good, food is BIG- omelettes are sized for lumberjacks. Service can be really slow; I figure it's a neighborhood, nobodies in a hurry kind of place, so just relax and enjoy your company. Absolutely love what they have done with the ladies room decor! more

They also roast their own coffee which is yummy! 8/13/2010

The BEST breakfasts around, and served with granola funk. The best is to sit in the cave or mouth booth. Both are fun for kids too. Great huevos rancheros. They also roast their own coffee which is yummy! more

Nothing better than flipping through the stranger with a cup of their coffee waiting for the fantastic meal 8/10/2010

Great coffee, great scrambles, great portions, great smoothies, great cinnamon rolls, great atmosphere (love the cow booths). Go when you have time to spend, not a place for a rushed breakfast. Nothing better than flipping through the stranger with a cup of their coffee waiting for the fantastic meal you're about to have more

You want the udder booth 8/5/2010

gigantic breakfast portions -- almost too much of a good thing. Prepare to wait for a table on the weekends, if you're lucky you'll get the "udder booth". more

We have tried a few other brunch spots but... 8/2/2010

I've been in the restaurant business 25 plus years and breakfast is the most demanding meal service and Mae's is always perfect. We have tried a few other brunch spots but we always come home to Mae's more

The service is awesome--so friendly and down-to-earth. 7/28/2010

I've been going to Mae's since I was a kid, and the food is so consistently fabulous that its still my favorite brunch spot. Whether you're dining with your family, nursing a hangover or just looking for a great place to grab a bite with friends, Mae's is your best bet in Seattle, bar none (And I've eaten there in all those circumstances.). I introduced my boyfriend (now husband) to the place a couple years back, and he loved it just as much as I do. I knew then that he was a keeper. The service is awesome--so friendly and down-to-earth. It's like having brunch at a favorite aunt's house--Aunt Mae! more

The service and food are just over the top 7/26/2010

We have been coming to Mae's for nearly two years, mostly for brunch on the weekends but sometimes I'd sneak up for breakfast by myself. The service and food are just over the top. When we come in we are always greeted with a smile and a wave. They always remember my coffee drink and are sincerely interested in what's going on with us. We're the table the waitstaff wants to chat with. more

Great 7/19/2010

The potato omelet is great more
