Editorial review from Citysearch 6/11/2013

Luther Westside is the worst company I have ever had the displeasure working with.\r \r I bought a 2012 Routan and 3 days after I noticed the CD player was not functioning correctly. I returned to the dealership to have it examined and they also found the CD player to be defective. They replaced the CD player with the same model and the exact same problem was happening. At this point, they started ignoring me. My calls were ignored and even an extra visit to speak with a manager was a waste of time. I was promised a phone call the next day with a solution, never heard back.\r \r Turns out, ALL of the CD players of that model are defective. (they cut out the beginning of tracks) Luther Westside was ignoring me because they didn’t want to admit they were all garbage. I visited Burnsville Luther and they ALSO found it to be defective. I filed a complaint with VW of America and after they sent a case manager to investigate, Westside Luther told them that is was MY fault because I was listening to illegally burned CD’s. THAT IS A LIE! The service advisor and the mechanic BOTH watched me use legal CD’s (which I purchased off Amazon) to demonstrate the defect. After they told VW of America those lies, I was branded as a liar trying to take advantage of them.\r \r So after 2 VW dealerships found it to be defective, they STILL would not replace the CD player they sold me. After 6 MONTHS of arguing with this terrible company, I had no choice but to file a lawsuit.\r \r STAY AWAY FROM LUTHER WESTSIDE! TERRIBLE COMPANY!!! more

I've had good experiences 12/8/2010

My experiences are different than the others; they've been only good. I bought my 2005 Jetta from the used car lot. I bring it in for service and maintenance routinely. The Jetta started making loud noises, especially as I rounded a curve; Jacob in the service department said it was the right side wheel bearing. I also have had to replace the lights in the front and the back fairly often. When I told Jacob I couldn't afford to do both at the same time, he made another appointment for a few weeks later. Then he came back and said they were restarting my warranty because in the year and a half I had the card I hadn't used the warranty at all! Westside didn't have to do that, but because they did I was able to get everything fixed at once. They're terrific! more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 10/25/2010

I purchased a vehicle from West Side 3 years ago and was lied to about the promises made with the purchase. They promise a full tank, discount gas & in this case free washes and oil changes for life. When I picked up the car they had to take it back to fill it up only at my request. The discount gas card and other discount service coupons were never provided & the oil changes / car washes were ignored. When I called to complain, that sales person was no longer with the company and they would no honor what he promised even though it was in writing. Recently, I brought the car in for warranty service and told them that the CV joints were clicking. To my disappointment, they only replaced the BOOTS and told me that the joints were fine even though you could hear the clicking around corners with all doors and windows closed. The deductible was $100. When I drove the car off the lot, it was still clicking. I brought it home thinking that perhaps the new grease would fix it, but it did not. i returned the car to them and told them that they needed to fix it because I had told them what the issue was the first time. Their tech drove the car and told me that he couldn't hear any clicking. I told him that the clicking is there and they need to drive it again. The second technician then said it had a bad joint. They refused to fix it again without me paying the deductible. I will never return. This review is being posted on any site I can find. It isn't the $100 that bothers me, it's the lack of respect for customers, lack of integrity & lack of honesty that bothers me most. more

Below Par 6/25/2008

I bought a Passat from there in March and since then I have been back several times for repairs and an oil change. I have found that bringing in your vehicle during the day side is much better than in the evening. The day side staff is always friendly in services that is and the night time seems to take their sweet time to get your vehicle in and out.... I spent two hours waiting on an oil change, two hours and they didn't even run my car through the car wash as they said they would. \r \r They buying experience was not bad, but I had to call and come in to pick up my plates three days after my yellow tag expired because they forgot to call me...by reading the reviews I can see that I am not the only one that this has happened to. I also did not have an owner's manual and my car only came with one key and a valet key...... I had to wait over two months to get the owner's manual and they said there is no way for them to get me another key, if I want one I will have to pay for it.... \r \r I recommend that if you want a VW, don't buy it here, they have absolutly no sense of urgency. I love my car, just wish I would have bought it else where. Pros: My car... Cons: No sense of urgency anywhere in the facility more

West Side Volkswagen 6/6/2008

This dealership is absolutely terrible. They will do nothing to accommodate you. They will forget to send you the tabs for your car. If you lease a car and wish to purchase it later they will try to harass you into selling it back and leasing again. Basically, they will do what is convenient and cost effective for themselves without any regard for the customer. In fact, when I finally was allow to purchase my Passat, they did not record the sale and then because it was not recorded as a sale, threatened to damage my credit rating if I did not fix their error. Absolutely ludicrous. more

DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR TO WESTSIDE VW 2/25/2008

Please, please, please - do not bring your car to Westside VW!! Not only do they make you feel stupid for asking questions about the repair work done on your car, but they are also scam artists. The last 3 times I've brought my car in for repairs, the check engine light mysteriously appears a day or two after the work is complete, and I have to spend another $200-300 to repair whatever it is they've clearly broken. Their service staff is rude and demeaning, their repair work is shoddy, and their prices are outrageous. My experience with Westside VW has been horrible, and I'm ashamed it has taken me this long to take my business elsewhere. Don't fall into the same trap I did. Shame on you, Westside VW. Pros: absolutely nothing Cons: EVERYTHING more

warrenty work 9/13/2007

I bought a used vehicle from this dealer. Something I will never do again. After taking the car to a third party mechanic. He found multiple issues with the vehicle, they told me that what he found wasn't really there but then they agreed to fix the issues that they had just told me were fictional after I threatened to walk. They assured me that if anything was not right with the car after I purchased it that I would have a period of warranty. I had to take the vehicle in four times within the 30 day period in order to get the wheels properly aligned. They blamed it on a broken alignment machine on my fourth visit. I was told that the breaks were new by the salesman, that was just a couple months ago and now I found out that I need all new brake pads and rotors. During one of my visits to the service department. I had asked for the alignment readout because I wanted to see the numbers myself . The numbers proved that the car was still out of alignment and it even said that if numbers were in the red the car shouldn't be driven and and the service consultants were doing everything they could to assure me that it was fine and pushed me out the door saying that the warranty repair guys were gone for the day and I would have to make another appointment. Cons: pushy dealers, incompetent service consultants, poor warrenty work more

Inferior warranty work followed by a professional runaround 5/9/2007

They will sell you the car, send you ""valued customer trade-in"" come-ons endlessly. Nice, brand new building (they must make decent profits) and work seems like it's well done. But that's on the surface. I had incomplete work done that led to excessive and accelerate wear. This all finally came to the surface during a routine maintenance service stop when lo and behold, I had to get new brakes after only 30000 miles. Not surprisingly, these were the exact same brakes that had the warranty work done on them.\r \r When I tried to explain this correlation, I got nothing but excuses from the ""excuse bag"" which tries to take advantage of the customer's incomplete mechanical knowledge. But when the customer service manager tried to tell me that it's normal for the wheels to be hot after driving on the highway for 1-2hrs, I knew he was throwing nonsense my way.\r \r More and more companies are not taking responsibility for incompetence and inadequate service work. And so it will be, my new vehicle will be a VW from another dealership or, more likely, another brand.\r \r Pros: Nice new building, clean service area Cons: Don't take responsibility for their work more
