Luna Park Cafe is a historical institution, with a prime location, long-as-your arm menu, kitschy decor, and it tends to get busy on the weekends. As diner fare nothing's really good, nor does it need to be, West Seattle has too few joints where you can roll outta bed Sunday morning and take the paper with you to the table.
Unfortunately the place gets (and stays) grimy...caked on dust on the salt and pepper shakers, jelly dispensers with more than jelly, and I've seen highway rest stops with cleaner restrooms. After receiving a replacement fork that was as dirty as the original I gave up on the place.
If there was a good signature dish, or speciality of the house, I could over look the literal nature of this greasy spoon. Their cheese sauce for the egg dishes is terrible, order on the side.
But the come as you are atmosphere and modest prices keeps 'em jammed with families for brunch, so head on underneath the bridge to Chelan's, or Madison's cafes.
